I asked at the consultation, and she claims it was left out intentionally and will lock/bulb separately. My hair was measured and my quote was based on that measurement. I’ve seen a lot of RUclipsrs with these loose ends now so thought it was normal.
Thanks for sharing! Some people are actually combing their ends out on purpose to achieve a curly look. This does not work the same on all curl pattern, and is definitely not advised.
Pretty sure i got played. She told me "we stop at the hairs natural stopping point" and now i have like 3+ in. of loose hair on each loc. For reference my hair is currently 13in and I was established 9 days ago. I cute my 30in hair last year to start this journey and I'm kind of sad now
Me too! Considering braiding them to the ends., vs cutting. My certified tech keeps saying that's how they are supposed to be... but I know better. I feel like I wasted $1600.
Thank you Tika, I am watching your videos back to back. Informative content . Thank you so much. So what I can do as my ends are loose and I think it was due to number 3 you mentioned. Can it still be sorted out? Thank you
You’re welcome! If you’ve started your sisterlocks with RELAXER on the ends, then you can’t cut that portion at the Loc’d area until fully Loc’d. In the meantime you may blend the look with textured styles like braid outs twist outs and roller sets. You may have your hair trimmed gradually but don’t cut close to the natural area while it’s still soft and fragile! That area must be settled in!
Everyone is on a case by case basis L.Monique. You may need to get a thorough consultation from a trusted brand ambassador in your area. You may not need to cut them. Definitely not if your locs are soft or still settling in.
I started with about 10 inches of natural hair that I let grow out from a #1 fade. I never knew about the Top 3 you spoke of and my consultant never mentioned them. I have about 3 inches of unlocked ends per lock. It's causing quite a bit of bunching and thick, traditional looking locs at the ends for many locs. I'm nearly 2 years past my installation date but, do you have any recommendations?
Hey Rose Gold! Oh wow, while we are not quite sure why your ends were not loc’d, I have a question? Are you fully loc’d? At 2 years, most Locs are solid and dense to the touch. This is apposed to being soft and open. … If you know absolutely for sure that those ends are loc’d, you may choose to get a trim to release those ends that are not uniform with the rest of your locs. That is an option. (You may also ask questions. Your consultant should be able to explain, or even consult with their own mentor for further assistance) Wishing you well!
This is super helpful. I have mixed feelings about why my ends are loose, but I think reason number 2 is accurate for the most part. I have always questioned it, but no one seems to agree with me that there is a problem, so I let it go. My consultant’s reason was number 2, so I appreciate your confirmation. Thank you Tika!
Trina! I’m glad this was helpful! Sometimes on extremely curly hair, our ends may work their way out just a tad. That creates a little looseness. However, if you had heat damage or straight ends , you should have been made aware of this from the start. You should only be charged for establishing the inches that are textured and locked, not the inches that are straight on the ends.
Hey! I do get permanent high lift color. I started with bleach highlights already in my hair before the establishment . When I touch up my color now, I try not to overlap. That may be a video coming soon!
I love my loose curly ends!
Good For You!
Great Content!

I have heat damage but I was quoted a higher cost due to the length.

So, who do you recommend? I need these loose ends taken care of. I have curly hair and it's white. Oh boy.
