So what about live 11 it's not working for that so it means we can't use any gear which is not listed in the midi controllers drop down list? How can we make user script for our midi gears in live 11?
Hi, thank you very much for video. I've a Akai MPK261 that is actually prensent in native control surface in Ableton 11. All seems to work except knobs on devices. There's a way to modify the running script just to add encoder beahaviour? Where is the file to modify in case? Thanks
Quick question: I have an Akai MPKmini mkI, which is in Ableton's Control Surface dropdown menu, but when I select it as my midi controller, nothing gets mapped anywhere at all. Do you know why this might be? Also, I'm using Ableton Live Suite 11.0.12 and the phrases "InputName" and "OutputName" literally aren't anywhere at all in my UserConfiguration.txt file. Perhaps your tutorial is only relevant to previous versions of Live?
Does this method work on Live 12? There is no place to put Input namd and Output name in Userconfiguration.txt in Live 12. I put them anyways, and it doesn't show up.
I have the opposite problem: It shows up fine in the list of control surfaces, but it has no effect. Nothing on my MOTÖR49 is ever instantmapped. I've paintakingly verified that the folder name matches the recognized device name. MOTÖR insists on using global channel 2 so I use "1" in the userConfiguration.txt file. CC numbers match what you have in your example file when I test in the MIDI mapping mode. How does this method compare to the Python method? Ready to try that next.
@@impulsecoupling I almost resorted to the python method myself I have not investigated although I know that it is probably just as powerful if not more. I have since replaced my MIDI controller with a Novation SL MKIII.
@@jimwally6121 Its a little different but it should still work in similar fashion. The new one allows for up to 16 (instead of 8) knobs/sliders/etc. What exactly is the issue?
I want to create what I'm calling a "virtual controller" in m4l. Let's say you have a BCR2000 and a ps4 controller connected to this virtual m4l controller. In Ableton you would select this virtual controller in preferences and Ableton sees the virtual controller instead of a BCR2000 and ps4 controller. So you could hotswap on the fly the ps4 controller and replace it for a Liine Lemur patch to control the same parameters from within this virtual m4l controller and Ableton wouldn't know that controllers behind the cc values are being hotswapped because this virtual controller is acting like a bridge. In other words Ableton doesn't know whether this virtual controller sending cc 22 is a ps4 left trigger or BCR2000 knob 14. So in practice you would be able to drag and drop this virtual m4l controller onto a channel then Serum, click the Serum device, now the virtual m4l controller is automapped to control Serum, and then you have the choice to control Serum with any MIDI/HID/joystick controller you previously pre-configured to be seen and have its values seen by the virtual m4l controller. Have you seen something like this before? I'm not sure where to look for information on how I could create this or what would be involved to create a custom controller and handling the controller data, but I know people have connected ps4 controllers to m4l before. I'm not sure what additional steps would be required to get all of these concepts working together, or if I'm approaching this problem optimally.
I know Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I was stupid forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can give me!

Your surface is NOT mapped this way. Included control surfaces have much more complex scripts stored in a different location.
I have a controller with 64 knobs, do you know if it is possible to add condition to the script ? (like : if tracknumber ==1 then encoder 1 = 0 etc )
Using this option, no there is not. Its just simple mapping. Ableton does support more complex scripts in python though.

Hello, thanks you for your vidéo! Do you know if it's possible to increase de number of encoder? More than 8 ? Thanks! :)
Yup, the encoders are in banks. There are 8 knobs but 32 addresses. Just add them in the file and use the bank button to switch
Yes just use the Bank button to select bank 9-16 and check to see what the midi signal are using midiview or any other midi signal viewing tool.
Hi! Can you reupload the Script please? Thanks!!!!
do you have the Motor49 or 61?

Sadly the link to the script isn't working anymore.
There is an example script that already came with your copy of Ableton. Just follow the instructions in the video. It's different for every interface.
what if i have more than 8 faders you ableton rats
Actually the system now allows you to configure up to 16
