  • This car was born on 05/03/1955 with chassisnumber 80510 and was delivered in this signal red with a cream/Black Acella Bast Leatherette interior. Besides the headlights and the changed dashboard gages panel, this car should be completely original and it really looked accordingly. The car was bought in 1962 for $1642 and the previous owner drove it in 4 American states up until 1985. Then it was put away in a barn until 2014. If I am not mistaken the crankshaft bearings of these cars could not handle use on tracks and races and probably that explanes why the car had its engine rebuilt in 1965.

Like an old, comfortable, shoe that you've worn for years and still fits you well and gets you where you want to go with grace and poise.

Almost all original and all good! A prince of a daily driver. Love the patina.

She was, James. Think it was sold to someone who'd leave it untouched!

I’m sure this car has already been restored but I would have kept it just as it is except for repairing the seats. Original cars are far more rare than restored ones and in my opinion they look better - like a well worn denim or leather jacket. A delectable machine!

Never restore that beautiful car! It's got history and character- like very few other cars! Congratulations for the owner!

What I heard was that this car was bought by someone who'd leave it in this condition, so... that's good news! Ciao, Walter

I loved this video! Thanks for sharing it, before some wealthy collector replaces/rebuilds everything and stores it in another garage. I love the patina!

I love this car exactly as it is. It's the simplicity of it's history- trials and tribulations! The cars these days are just to complicated while this beauty brings back the simplicity of yesteryear. Please don't give her surgery only to be placed in some garage never to be driven again...

Thanks for the beautiful words, Paul. I remember people saying about this car that it was worth more unrestored than restored, so hopefully it is still in this state 👍. Ciao, Walter

Speedsters were available with coupe seats from the factory. 1970 I bought a speedster w/ coupe seats and the same hardtop.

I had an original 1957 Speedster in college. I had the hard top and winter windows and the soft top and summer windows...I am looking to by a restored one but no-one has any idea about making a hard top for it. I live in Alaska and would need the hard top as well. How can I get the specs on the hard top so I can have one made? Please contact me. Cam Mocarski

Nice music in this case and the engine is heard running. I like the music.

  • @melindamanthey2757

The music is "awful", dreary, had to turn it off to watch. Did manage to catch the engine and exhaust sound a couple times but then the damned music came back on ; more a funeral dirge than a celebration of the "phoenix" moment of the car. I owned a 53 bent window coupe back in the 60s. A 1500 "normal" . As to not restoring this car, I would remove/correct the insults it endured over the years and attend to any structural rust and safety issues. Other than that, I'd leave it alone.
