I love this story. My very first car was a 1953 Porsche that I bought in 1960 when I was 21 years old. I paid $1200 for it at a used car dealer in Pensacola. Two years later I had to sell it to pay for my new daughter. Back in those days few of us had hospital insurance. I loved that car and still miss it.

I'm happy that so many continue to enjoy the film and validate my preservation of the car and its reunion with Lois. First, she's well and enjoys reports on the film's ever increasing audience. To Dub World's questions: The car was stored when the engine began to make troubling noise and put away awaiting a rebuild that the original owner, Gordon, never got around to. So the car remained stored in the garage and, as Lois notes in the film, was covered with books, magazines, etc as the years passed. The house paint was spilled on the garaged car during the Jan. 1994 Northridge earthquake. After Gordon died later in 1994 the family moved but the car remained with family members until I purchased it

First, thank you all for your kind and supportive comments. Both Lois and I very much appreciate them. And to Michael S., yes the car was expensive in 1953. Max Hoffman didn't sell many in 1952 and convinced Porsche to make two US export models for 1953: The 'America", this car and the "Super", the difference being that the America was a "de-contented" model with corduroy seats, not vinyl, the passenger seat tilted forward only and not recline, no rear seat flip-up back, basic wheels without trim rings, no radio, one sun visor not two, a 55hp v. 75hp engine and as I recently discovered no fresh air vent controls - the passenger foot well vent openings are there but the opening covers are acorn-nut closed and without the pull knobs - save where you can, I guess? The America cost $3,400 and the Super $4,300. By comparison a new Hudson Hornet cost $2,800 and a 54 hp MG TD cost $2,115. Finally, Classic Cars magazine (UK) is soon to publish a nice feature on the car.

What a touching story! I started college at the University of WA back in 1960 and traded my almost new "59 volkswagan for this cool '54 America coupe painted British racing green. I remember the corduroy interior with maroon dash. It had slotted wheels with bullet hubs and was one of the most fun cars I ever owned. My girl friend liked it so well she ended up being my wife of 61 years!! We had to sell it to pay for the rest of school which is a big regret, but the awesome trade off was and is 6 kids, 12 grandkids and 9 great grandkids.

Gramma Pat Sebald of Reno, Nevada thoroughly enjoyed this documentalry short of an elder Lady who shared her own true story with the one who has preserved and protected that little # 27 , 1953, 356 Porsche coupe shared in the video. Why? Because Lois Johnson's story is similar to our family Sebald story of sharing our time, travel and wonderful memories of our own little "Porsche" experiences. We, too, were members of the POC of LA and lived in North Hollywood. Our kids rode in the back of our various Porsche cars in safety and for the fun of it. Perhaps dear Lois and I will meet in the future? She looks wonderful in this video at age 93. I'm not far behind her at age 85 and still active in Reno Nevada. Wonderful to share these true and happy stories with others. Gail Patricia Bauderer/Sebald of the snv-pca in Reno.

Such a touching story . We own 3 classic cars and have for 2 the complete history. My wife is the "second owner" of a 67 Sunbeam Alpine , I bought it as a birthday present because she was born that same year. These old cars can talk to you , like old friends . Part of a family , part of people's lives . So nice Mr Green brought that car back in connection with Lois. So moving...
