I've got a pretty decent slope in the front yard. I go up and down it without much effort. I wouldn't recommend going east and west on a slope. The mower has motivated me to level out bumps in the yard as well.
I have this mower and your right about the hill. It will run away to a hill. So with my yard I am able to to go up and down to mow my yard. I think it's a very good mower and I will recommend to a friend.
I use it for my business, 2 years now. The slopes have to be cut up and down or the tires will slip. I replaced the tires and now I can go sideways. Most of the turf tires are that way so you don't tear up the grass. After 2 years I finally have a broken pto belt beside the normal Maitenance it's awsome mower.

Also have a soggy flat area that I can't mow because the tires just spin with no traction. Wish there was an option for different tires but there isn't.
Just bought one. First timer. Started it up and lower my blade and still didn’t cut. Have no idea what I maybe be doing wrong. It seem very easy. I am beginner.
I think he had a hill with a drop off and he didn't know how to handle it(the mower) - I think he's afraid of it and it's best for him to stay with a push mower. I have seen all kinds of vids on the Ariens mowers and even using on slopes with no problems at all. this guy has no business on a Zero Turn Mower.----PERIOD!

I bought an Ariens Ikon XD 52" and I have a 25 degree slope in my front yard that is roughly 30 yards wide but is a straight hill with no turns and a very consistent 25 degree grade all the way across. I start at the bottom and ONLY CUT UP HILL with it and lean completely forward on the mower. I keep the throttle at slightly over half and do NOT turn or even move the control levers fully forward and keep consistent pressure on the levers. It cuts just fine with no slippage as long as the grass is 100% DRY! Now, it does have the Kawasaki 23hp engine, so I don't know if the power is different on your model, but it works just fine for me. Have to go very slow on zero turns on hills and you CANNOT make turns on hills! Edited to point out that you only have 1.5 hp less than me, so unless the torque numbers are significantly different on the Kawasaki FR691V you may just have a learning curve to catch up to. Then again, I'll admit, the first time I cut that hill in my yard, the pucker factor was real!
@@MidniteSon I completely understand that, but you also have to understand that the manufacturer has to put a "limit" on the product. They are usually quite conservative to protect themselves. I have no problem doing "at my own risk" because it has to be done, and no other mower would do it any better.

Going down the 6ft. slope is not the mowers fault. Lawn maintenance people use push or walk behind mowers for those areas.

You’re returning a mower just because you couldn’t handle the slope? You can drive any mower on a slope and it be dangerous

The operator's guide on this mower says you can only cut 15° slopes. Anything above that is at your own risk
