I remember the first time I entered the Phantom Forest, I just set down the controller and stared for a minute, overwhelmed by the combination of the gorgeous visuals and mystical music.
I grew up with games released in the 2010s and this still blew me away. Reminds me of ghost of Tsushima with the beautiful trees and lighting and the serenity of it.
I was there, playing this in '94 too, and I did the same thing. 2d pixel art had never looked so beautiful. Didn't know Super Nintendo could pull that off until that moment. Glorious!
Love this theme. It's one of the best tracks from the GOAT soundtrack in gaming history.

It’s been remade many times, most recently the Pixel Remaster on Steam.

every time I hear phantom forest soundtrack, I think of a cool autumn night with mystery and wonder.
I always forget this music was used in Cyan's dream scenario, too.
For me, this is the best dungeon theme in the franchise.

学校行事で孤男でしたので、ファイナルファンタジーのキャラクター達に、イマジナリーフレンドとして共鳴し
僕の精神を安定させ自己肯定感を維持しながら東淀川高校を何とか卒業したと思います。
歌手のaikoさんの母校ですね😂

ここを修行の場に据える
大きな理由のひとつとなった。

日本の森って感じがしない。何かヨーロッパのフランスかドイツの森って感じがする。
I think this is my least favorite theme. It's a nice melody, but the context in which it is used is meant to represent ghosts.
One has to be strong to not become a ghost in real life in a symbolic way.
