For ships the Megapack makes so much sense. It's standard container size, so existing port infrastructure can be used for swapping. It's also designed to connect to high-voltage power lines, so charging them is solved. And the next gen. Megapack will have integrated stepdown transformers too, so they will connect directly to big power lines anywhere, no local infrastructure needed. I did the math years ago, and it would be feasible today. Weight, volume, and cost, wouldn't be prohibitive. The one issue was the amount of Megapacks needed, but soon production volume will catch up to that. Also, don't necessarily need to do the full trip on a single charge. Old steam ships had to refuel on longer trips too, so there's precedent for that. But there's a more practical alternative: nuclear power. The first power reactors were designed for submarines, and most aircraft carriers are nuclear powered too. The USSR even built nuclear powered ice breakers, which make the diesel ones look like toys. Nuclear power gives you practically unlimited performance and range. Nuclear subs refuel once in two decades. Plus fuel is dirt cheap. So ships could go much much faster, which would drastically increase the amount of cargo they can deliver in a given time. It's hard to find the cost of a naval nuclear reactor, since they are all used by militaries, but one source claimed $100M a few years ago. And that's defense contractor price, so could go as low as $10M, if built for commercial use. Many startups develop modern small nuclear reactors too, including one founded by a former SpaceX engineer, who spent 12 years at the company. I think that's an excellent resume for solving exotic technical problems and navigating a complex and archaic regulatory environment.

Solar cells are crazy inexpensive these days and having no batteries onboard should keep it light and low risk.
Robotaxi is very much within the Tesla bubble, but this is true of most innovations during development. Robotaxi is a ‘from anywhere, to anywhere’ elevator. The Otis elevator changed the height of buildings and effectively created modern city scapes. Robotaxi will reduce the need for ownership of private vehicles liberating the hundreds of billions of dollars tied up in vehicle fleets. The ramifications of the Robotaxi will be seismic.
