I have a few dispensers of waxed dental floss in addition to my 550 and bankline in my "emergency" rucksacks. The floss, braided with 3-5 strands is pretty tough.
I liked seeing you do the knots, I could actually see how your fingers were working:) There's a lot of videos where hands and fingers get in the way, nice job:)
That's a pretty slick setup. Now that it's all pre-set it'll be a cinch to set up quick, and I guess if we want to take it down faster maybe a toggle though the bowline like "Corporal's Corner" and the pathfinder guys do on their "Rapid ridgelines" would be an option, wouldn't even have to pack the toggle, there's sticks everywhere. Definitely come in handy when the weather sneaks up on you.
I use either Samson Zing-it Rope 2.2mm X 180ft. Average Strength 580 Lbs or Samson Lash-It! Twine 1/16" X 180' for my ultra light tarp ridgelines. Or even amsteel blue rope. I then create the loops with splicing so there are no knots. Then with a combination of small hardware pieces and soft shackles I can setup my ridgeline numerous ways. Its super light weight small package, little to no stretch. It does cost more than paracord or bank line....thanks for your videos. Also if you are into making your own tarp, check Ripstop by the roll website for various fabrics so you can make a tarp large enough to cover the entire hammock. Again a little more cost and labor.
Very nice. 2 ideas for you, you could probably (not sure) unhook the trucker hitch side just before you start rolling up the tarp using the remaining side to hold it. Second idea I just thought about relating to the first video on it. You where noticing that the tarp is not long enough for your hammock, have you tried using it corner to corner over the hammock? That way it would be longer and have the areas with less cover where the hammock is going to be closer to the tarp. It would require a different ridgeline design of course. Just a thought. Thanks for the ideas!
I’ve traded in my 550 cord for Bankline and never looked back. I’ll be giving this fishing line a try next. My local Walmart, Dicks and Academy still carries tarred Bankline so I’ve been using that.
I’ve never even seen heavyweight fishin line, I’m not sure I would have even considered that it may work for what you showed us here. Now I gotta get some and see if I can duplicate your trickery. Nice job. Where can I find the ground sheet/tarp you’re using here? Great show n tell. 👍👍🙏
I Love it, but not sold yet. I will have to try it. Yesterday I added toggles to my quick deploy ridgeline Prusiks and always wrap the quick deploy with a toggle for my small Boland around the tree, got my setup time to 56 sec. Yet I still have the bulk, Fishing line on my next store trip!!! Will give this a go. Thanks Blackie, Great Idea.
I bought some the other day on ebay. good high quality stuff. but hood idea for the fishing line if u font have bank line. but I love tarred bank line. I use it for sooooo many diff projects. truly love love love the stuff. lol. i just dont like the smell of it but no big deal. lol.
Aww man, what the heck?! Now I want to go buy some 200 pound test fishing line. Awesome video as always. One question, does that fishing line have any stretch like paracord has? That is a great idea to have the ridge line directly attached to the tarp at all times for quick setup. Stay safe and be well. Thanks for sharing.
I bet if you leave enough of a tag end on the bowline, you could secure the bag it all fits in, to insure it doesn't get away, and expedite the process.
I was told one time that haversack meant...I have it sack...if you need a random piece of kit you dont carry in your pack or EDC. Then look in your. I have it sack
Imagine putting up a simple lean to and thinking you've accomplished something special at this age. Imagine being over 15 and thinking this is something special. Laughing my ass off.
I use a marline spike instead of pulling everything through the bowline.
You will find that if the prussics were made from a smaller diameter cord that they will hold better than when using same sized line.

Love your little projects
Excellent idea
Fantastic crazy idea Blackie! Nice quickie lightweight shelter that doesn't take up much room either. The 200 lb fishing line is a great option.👍
Thanks! I hadn't seen it done this way.

I'm late to the party but I loved this video!! I'm a pretty new sub but I'm learning a lot already. Thanks, Blackie! Peace

You should check out dutchware ridgeline. Get some Ti bling.

i realize I'm pretty off topic but do anybody know a good website to watch new movies online ?
@Titus Ariel Flixportal xD
@Jad Bowen Thank you, I went there and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!
@Titus Ariel no problem :D

One wind is a hammock manufacturer. Their website also has ponchos, sleeping bags , and these ground sheet/tarps...
@@PlayaSinNombre thank you 👍
Very cool 🤠
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome sauce! Great work! 80 lb dacron fishing line works great for small stuff as well!
I like your minimalist setups I am too trying to cut down on bulk of items to fit in my haversack and still be as useful as a full size item..

Thanks Blackie, Great Idea.
Did the fishing line work well for you?
@@wmluna381 Never got there but used Mason line and Zing it reasonably well.
Great idea. I like it packs small
Very good idea , thanks for sharing , God bless !
I use micro-cord; Atwood makes it but mine was Rothco with a claim that it was made is USA. I use Line Locks.
I have been using Butcher's Cord. I believe it is 250 lbs tensile strength, but I like the fishing line too.
Nifty idea, thx for the vid
Good idea. But para may still be necessary. Especial wire core.
That is genius right there!!
Awesome!
Nice idea.. may do it on my 10x10 Even if you set up in a different configuration the line shouldn't be any problem
Slick! 👍👍

at the moment i have not noticed any stretch.. i am sure there is some but it has held well in all the projects i have tried
Like it
What about kevlar cord? Does it bite back on itself?
What type of ground tarp is that; I need one.
I bet if you leave enough of a tag end on the bowline, you could secure the bag it all fits in, to insure it doesn't get away, and expedite the process.
“Bankline” does not have a breaking strength of 330 lbs. A certain size bankline I’m sure does have that rating. Which size were you referring to?
how many ozounse it that groung sheet
How about micro cord? It comes in camo too :)
HOW LONG? THAT IS THE QUESTION OF ALL TIME!
Another recommendation would be 275 cord.
Bless you! LOL
That's pretty cool ( but , I like My shelter setup better !) You might call it home away from home .
( They'll leave the light on for You )
Crazy is as crazy does
Ebay has plenty of bank line real stuff from Cattahula
"Ground Sheet" city campers "Tarp" country folk lol
I was told one time that haversack meant...I have it sack...if you need a random piece of kit you dont carry in your pack or EDC. Then look in your. I have it sack
Excellent time weight saving.
EBay has got it
1/4 KELVER CORDAGE = 6600 POUNDS OF STRENGTH BROTHER
And 4 times the cost. Besides, your tarp will be long gone before the fishing or Kevlar line break.
why use a togal
Nothing new, always the old story.
