It will make you deficient in L-carnitine and inositol, as well as causing low calcium in the blood. It will increase the risk of bone fractures. It decreases production of collagen. Basically over time it will cause your body and health to deteriorate.
I had serious side effects. I was given it to gain weight. I did. But the severe side effects caused me dystonia during sleep.

Epileptic. I developed PCOS from this stupid medication. Even though I haven't taken this medication since I was 17, I have struggled with weight gain ever since. I eat no processed food, no sugar, no fast food, no gluten, no rice, potatoes, or anything high in the glycemic index. I exercise 2 hours a day and weight has always just crawled off of me. This medication is a freaking nightmare. To think that my parents and doctor thought it was acceptable to put a 9 year old on it is beyond crazy. When i turned 18, I got off this medicine and went on Keppra. Thankfully, I have no side effects other than vitamin D deficiency. I guess I just have to live with all of this.

Keppra, Lamictal, tegretol. Avoid Topamax like the plague. It is some seriously scary medicine, I don't ever talk about my experiences with that drug...
