- Huge news today! It looks like we are getting multiple characters with Dreamlight Valley's Mulan Update. Mulan and Mushu are coming to the game and we take a first look at what the realm and house could look like

I know that Mulan's family home is huge but we have to take into account... We got a "mini" version of Casita from Encanto so they could do the same thing with Mulan's family home
So excited! Also, just to clarify, Kimonos are Japanese. I think what Mulan wears is called a Hanfu (though I'm not totally sure), but its not a kimono
You are correct it would be a hanfu or it's forerunner, other famous outfit styles are from the last two, 19-20th, centuries.
Kimono is Japanese its forerunner for court dress was for women the junihintoe.
I can see the Lucky Cricket being a companion. We're definitely getting Mulan and Mushu as the next characters though. They're the main characters of the movie after all. I'm excited to see both of them in my valley!
I will cry if the cricket doesn't come! It should be one of the friendship prizes for them :)
As I told you in your livestream last night, if mushu is the second character in the game (seems more likely now), I think his house IS the ancestor shrine. It's where and how he was manifested. Mulan will obviously have her home from the movie as the house.
As for the realm, it is possible also for it to be inside the emperor's palace. It's a massive place, and you could potentially do interesting quests there.
I already have a planned spot for Mulan and Asian theme section in wild tangled promenade (bamboo section). It's gonna look dope!

If we got Mulan and Mushu in the Realm, and the end of one of their friendship quests unlocks Shang in the same way you did with Mickey and Minnie and Ursula and Eric.
At least that's how I would do it.
While Mushu is probably coming I want to remind people the actual English post, which was shown in this video, said “upcoming character” not characters. Translations can be wrong and technically Mulan hasn’t been officially confirmed to be coming so it could just be referencing her as Mushu’s congee is the only food item we have from the Mulan movie plus it was made for her to eat. I think Mushu feels extremely likely yet you never know.
So excited for Mulan, i really hope they start adding more styles of furniture. I would love it if they added in some more traditional Japanese furniture for example. Theyve had the wallpaper and flooring but no furniture to match, super excited!!
i think shang would come later in a quest chain similar to getting eric for ariel. he could even come in as a quest chain where he was out trying to fight the night thorns and the forgetting, like how they just did with daisy
getting close to all items too. it's been about a week since i got a wallpaper or flooring, and been getting 1-3 deco a day, if any
the Frosted heights has become the Frosting heights. lol
you can place down any kitchen counter but i don't think that's what you're looking for

The update usually drops a week or 2 after the end of the Star Path. June 19th seems like earliest date for the update (if they stick to Wednesday releases)

Beyond excited that Mushu is coming. He’s a personal favorite and I’m excited to see what DDL does with him and his friendship rewards. Also, congrats on the 40k! Well deserved because you are such an excellent creator.

Nice to see my reddit post shown in this, but I still don't think Mushu is coming. If he does, I'll eat a sock. But the congeree is the only thing whatsoever in the game from Mulan. Just a reference to her I think.

Mulan coming to the game is exciting. I'm going to have to clear a place either in the Forest of Valor or the Wild Tangle. Probably the Wild Tangle since there's bamboo there and it'll be nice for Mirabel to have a neighbor. I had moved Mini Casita to the Wild Tangle to free up the main Valley.
Fun fact; I used to hang with the son of the guy that did Li Shang's singing voice. Also, hope we get Mulan's dog, Little Brother as a companion animal

I keep meaning to tell you how much I love your new outtro with Little Oswald 🖤 He's my favourite, just can't get enough of the wee guy. I also love your cool area in the frosted heights for Vanellope and Daisy. I love the alice labyrinth. I ended up using the cheshire cat topiary in the theme park I have in Sunlit Plateau. You know how, when you are in disney world, Magic kingdom or epcot, they always have topiaries at the gate before you go in. I thought that would fit in well there, like at the start of my park, with the disney park entry.
I am really excited for the Mulan update, think of all the bneautiful items we will potentially get and the amazing quest lines from this. I hope we get Mulan and Mushu, I think they make the most sense together. Mushu is such a dynamic character, can't see him just being a companion. I don't mind if we get Li Shang, but would prefer Mushu.

Mulan will probably be voiced by her original VA, while Mushu will be voiced by the person who voiced him in Kingdom Hearts. As for Li Shang, maybe they’ll lock him behind an expansion.

I would love the ancestors shrine as the house
I got a feeling the next update won't be till July 3rd. I know that's not spring but the star path has 2 more weeks then they always give about a week for people to get what they want from the star path then another week of teasing the next path would bring it to July 3rd I believe

Any time a character asks for mushu's congee I always say "look you get porridge, and it's happy to see you!" 😁

When it comes to the Mulan movies I'm only really interested in Mulan, as for the other characters well it's nice that they will give the boost to whatever skill I give them, but they will probably just go into the void. Haha Honestly I rather her grandma over all the other characters. But I am super excited for Mulan finally coming to the game. So comes the challenging question up until then. WHAT skill do I give Mulan and Mushu that makes sense? I think i've been debating miner or fisher for Mulan but found digging also makes sense. I'm guessing Timebending for Mushu.
So looking fwd to the different items they could add with the Mulan update
I don't think they'd do the war camp for the realm, imo. Most (not all, but most, I think?) of the characters seem to come from the end of their movies as far as timeline goes. Storywise I also feel like it would be hard to justify Mulan abandoning the war to come to the valley. So I feel like it will probably be after the events of the movie, after the war, etc. Just my guess anyway! Looking forward to it so much. I LOVE Mulan! One of my favorite Disney movies ever.
Honestly I'm hoping they delay the release of Mulan and make the game stable first. I keep losing my progress and items because it's constantly crashing. I did not have this issue until the latest update
I agree with you,I have had many crashes and there are too many glitches playing this game is frustrating and I no some people have quit playing it because of all the problems they were having😔
I am so excited. I think the realm could be like frozen realm or beauty and the beast realm. So either family home and war camp in a distance, or the emperor castle and gardens.
For her house I think a mini family home, like Eric's castle, frozen castle, Casita. Mushu either lives with her, or he gets a smaller house that is his ancestors shrine with Mushu becoming the dragon protecting the Valley.
I think Li Shang either comes later in Summer or is a side quest like Eric with Ariel.
I hope star path is Asian inspired with Japanese traditional and Chinese traditional items.

They have confirmed nothing. That food is from Mulan, it can be pointing to any main character from the movie. It's not confirmed until they say it themselves.
Not me half expecting us to get mushu but not mulan at this point.... I've learned not to expect anything without concrete proof now after figment wasn't in the last dlc drop. Bc that hint was just as blunt for me.

Thank you for your great utube channel. Dreamlight valley a great game. But they need to change a few things. First off is the moonstone I don't mind 1,000. Items but. Anything above that price is too much for a verture. Item. There's enough people playing to keep it going. I like to see character have there favorite animal pet with them or let us give them. One. Please have events when a starpath. Is not active. , please extend the valley. The beach need to be bigger. As well as other. Area. Please add. Character to gether. Like Ralph and candy girl. And stich of came with lelo..
Cool. However my game on xbox is way broken. I can't finish the star path because the button quests are broken. And I've been only finding 2 fish a day since the buttons arrived even if I take along a buddy. So broken.

I swear on all that is holy they better fix the freaking game before they release the update. This is ridiculous. I don't care about an update. I care about the game being fixed. I don't care about hints about an update. I think the priorities should be a playable game. My game doesn't crash, but everything else going wrong makes it unplayable.
They’re working on it and announced last week it’s their priority. Just dropping hints for us while we wait
It is playable though. Not everyone is having crash issues and I haven’t seen much going wrong since the fix

Im not playing this game until its 100 percent fixed, im not even finishing the starpath because this game is turning into a crapy game
BTW: kimono is Japanese - Mulan is Chinese. So maybe not equate the two?
