This is Woolie VS The Algorithm, a new RUclips Channel where you'll find all of the best and funniest moments from WoolieVersus. Clips from the podcast Castle Super Beast which he records with PatStaresAt are also hosted on the WoolieVersus channel. Woolie has collaborated with other content creators like Super Eyepatch Wolf and LittleVmills. I have been here before..
A girl walked up to me and just straight up asked me out and at this point in time I had a major crush on one girl, thought this girl was just joking around or her friends set her up to it (I had no self confidence at this point in terms of girls.)
So I didn't pay attention to how i said it and I just went "Nope!" and walked away with a smile.
Years later I realize...oh...what if she was serious and I just happily said no to her in front of her friends and I instantly felt like an asshole.
I can one up that, in middle school I got asked out by the super shy girl, and I gave her a cynical lecture about how love is a lie, and all relationships are inherently exploiter-exploited in nature, abd for her own good she needs to get thise stupid ideas out of her head because she was obviously not abuser material...

Like, I'm pretty sure the only reason I didn't contribute to teen-[self-forever-sleep] statistics was out of spite for any charities that talk about those statistics, because I was convinced that all charities were scams and that not a penny of charity donations ever go their their claimed causes, so I wasn't going to help them make money.
i think i did this...4 times in different ways, hell im fairly certian my friends even set one situation up, but i was more concerned about what we were going to do instead of the other person even existing. we went to say goodbye and she looked confused that i clearly intended to continue walking with my friend.

I've broken a few hearts in my youth but at least it was never nuclear levels of fuck up. The one I still feel bad about is one that could've been solved if she hadn't confessed, if we kept hanging out we probably would've hooked up eventually but I was still not sure about my feeling for her and it was just sad.

As a teen, a girl once asked me if I wanted to go to an event, and being mildly autistic and having no idea she had a thing for me, I answered "No, why would I?" because I thought the event sounded boring. She threw multiple chairs at me, and I thought it was a childish way to react to me not wanting to go to a party where I didn't know anyone. I only learned she had a crush on me like 5 years later.
I am glad that after feeling bad about it for around 15 years, I can safely say that at least it wasn't as bad as this.
Reggie's brain just works different when it involves people, the Mass Effect LP just makes sense now, he's on a different level, another plane of existence than us mere mortals
In my senior year of high school, I thought I figured out the "ask girls out for a dance" tech. I would go up to a girl and asked if I hypothetically asked her would she go out with me, what would she say. I would then move on to another girl regardless of answer. I got way more yes than I thought I would, but I also got a lot of girls angry at me, because I never wanted to go to the dance in the first place.

The correct way to express what Reggie said without being a total monster would be: "Finally! I was hoping *someone* would ask me!"
Phrasing it that way expresses that you wanted to be asked there and are happy that it happened, but it's vague enough that you don't specify if you just mean in general or if you wanted other people to ask you instead.
Alternatively, just say "Yes I would love to go with you" and keep it to that. Like a normal person. Because, holy shit.
