Woah, she made it to Calarts?! I'm so proud of you Saku!! I remember watching you back then and being so inspired. And now, youre inspiring me to try my shot at Calarts! So proud of you 💓💓
I love how you incorporated texture into the animation to make up for the lack of color, it reminds me a lot of a flip note which kinda plays into the film’s theme as well (i used to mess around on flip note so much as a little kid !! ahhh i miss the DS days)
I'm soo proud of youuuu❤!!! I also tried doing a 90 second animation(it was supposed to be 60 seconds long, but I wanted to add some details and don't make it feel rushed) and I get to know the process of animation-the struggle of trying to have realistic movements, beleavable expressions, camera angles and so on. Even tho it was really challenging I really enjoyed the process and it gave me ideas for another animations. It's crazy how challenging yourself and creating something along the way can make you really happy.
YAYY more saku videoss its so cool to see the whole process and you doing all of this ahh 😭✨ i remember watching your graduation video last year omg and probably alot of people say this lol but its really inspiring seeing you come this far :DDD
I love love love seeing the process behind your art! Makes me remember that inspiration can be in the most mundane things.. Once againnn ty for being an inspiration for so many people and I hope u can rest and take breaks during summer!
thanks for the info, it was really fun to see you work on your calarts film in the blogs and i loved how it turned out! really inspires me to work on my animation projects too :D
This is such an insightful breakdown !! Wow. And I just watched your film Rush Hour, it is AMAZING!!! Love the story arch, the animation is fantastic. As a New Yorker (now living in LA) that gap abyss between the platform and the trains are actually scary lol! But I love how you made it all just a blissful dream. Really dope film altogether. Are you still attending school at CalArts? What would you say your overall experience has been like there?
Thanks for sharing your process! I had an idea what visual development was but I never incorporated it into any of my work. I usually just go straight into creating😂But seeing how you incorporated manga screentones and the final look which was soo nicee, I'm encouraged to find my own inspirations and incorporate them into my work! And oh my goshhh Dittooo!!! I was dancing along with you!! I love that song and choreography too much🤣
Very interesting! Were you taking a class about how to make an animated film, or did you have to figure it out as you went along? Seems really complicated! Beautiful work!
Hello, I loved your video! I wanna make my own film as if I was going to calarts, so I was wondering how long did you have to work on your film, like what was the deadline? I really loved rush hour it was really good!
hey saku, i am really proud of you that you made it to calarts (keep going!). just a quick question: can i still apply to a art school even if my family is financially unstable, i really wanna pursue art but i keep thinking that i will be wasting their money if i never earn any. I would like your advise. Thank You!
Hello sis I want your advice on something. Please help I also want to learn animation from calarts. But I don't have that much money. What should I do. please help . Is learning and practicing from books and courses enough to create top level animation or should I try for scholarship and please can you tell how much hours you dedicate to animation in a day.
A lot of artists take other short art classes/workshops instead of going to art school but you can definitely learn a lot for free online. If you want i can send you some books/videos that might really help!
It's an ANIMATION, not a film. You even describe it as a video. We make MOVIES, not films. :-) We work with DIGITAL Video. Film, filming, and filmmaking are the most misused words in the industry. :-)Digital Video and film require different skill sets. Our tools are Digital Video, Non-linear, and CGI. We are moviemakers, not filmmakers. :-) Videographers and/or cinematographers. We video, we do not film. That's the other professionals who know how to use film and film cameras, like an ARRIFLEX 435 Panavision R-200 and Steenbeck flatbed film editors. Know the difference and be better at your craft. Want to know how Orson Wells shot Citizen Kane you need to understand film. :-) Differentiating between the two. How Lucas produced Star Wars you need to understand the filming process and its difference from video. Differentiating between the two. Lucas was keen enough to remaster his films to Digital Video once the technology was available. Respect and keep up the great work. :-)

I don't understand if you're trying to critique the creator or just throwing up tons of sentences
