believe it or not, most people actually don’t draw like that, and CalArts doesn’t encourage a specific style! I’ve always had a.. “muppet” like art style, but if you check out some of the other students, you’ll see the art styles are extremely varied :) It also depends what you want to go into, I think. I’m a story artist, and a lot of people are visdev artists.

This is just the super short answer I can provide at the moment. CalArts was my dream school growing up, and I did everything I could to get in. I'm incredibly grateful to be here today. The classes & teachers are really what you're paying for, and occasionally something really great happens. We've got a brand new animation space on campus that's just stunning, and so wonderful to work in. The people you meet at the school make it all worth it, too. So much talent and energy in one place. However, there are definitely some downsides. It's extremely expensive, so please make sure you do research on that before applying! For some, it's worth it to pay that much for the education CalArts gives you. It's definitely a choice to make yourself. Also, the rest of the school's facilities aren't the greatest. The building is from the 70's, and it shows, for sure. Just be sure to do plenty of research on the school before making your decision! I do believe it's worth it for my own personal situation, but it's up to each individual to determine if it's worth it for them. I hope that helps a bit!
