Loved this video. I will say this applies to going to university in general. I'm going into my third year of uni as well for engineering. Sometimes I see the artist in me get sad for not going to art school and sometimes I'm too hyped for the things I'm currently studying. It's really helpful to remember that humans are too complicated to just follow one path in their lives or that you cannot have different hobbies and likes ;)
This video was rly insightful to watch. It’s really cool that you’ve learned from your experiences and can now share it with us! Wish you luck on your upcoming 3rd year! Also yes pls saku dancing comeback!
I am currently in the process of shifting courses from pharmacy to multimedia. I would get so anxious that what if my art is not good enough/up to par with these people I am going to be with or I would get anxious of getting comments like "your art isn't even good enough, you should've stayed in pharmacy" type . So i desperately try to be like the artists I admire before the new school years starts. And the last part of the vid puts me to ease cuz you're right, it's okay not to be the master at the very start. Even in pharmacy, I was not the best at chem before going but i got through it! Even back there, they would teach the basics anyways.
honestly every artist should watch your videos 😔 I’m a high school senior and in the biggest art block I’ve ever been in,,, but you always inspire me to get up and enjoy art instead of taking it as a chore 💪 also love the hair 🫶
I am glad people have honest videos like this. I was unable to get through Graphic Design school because of health and pain issues, but it is surprising to find out how every school is so different.
Thank you for this video & being so honest with us! So many people just talk about art school as this amazing place to pursue your dreams, which is true, but very few people discuss the other side of it. I used to dream of making art a career tbh, even though growing up in HK everyone was really against it 😭😭 but now that art is one of my electives i realised that I want art to stay as a hobby :,) for me art has to be impulsive, I love randomly coming up with ideas and immediately drawing them (and dropping all my responsibilities LMAO) and the excitement and unpredictability that comes with it 🥹🫶🏻 Anyways best of luck with your remaining two years of art school
Thank you for making this video Saku! Hearing some of the things you said (especially about the self-worth) was needed, and some of the things you said really are important to hear regardless of whether you’re pursuing art as your faculty or not. Also the shirt you wore is super pretty :]
I’m applying to a design school this year! I’m hoping I’ll get in. I was really nervous about transitioning to an art filled environment especially coming from a STEM background but I think I’ll be fine thanks to this video! Thanks, Veda!
i took a one week art class once and definitely felt how you said you felt at first as well, but this was really helpful to watch and to think about for the future too >:OO thank you for making this videoo
