Hey nice vid. Best explanation thus far. I’m about to do the same install on my 05 Legacy GT Limited. The one thing I haves question about is the 3 wires from the i88 adapter that go to the 14 pin harness. How do you connect those wires to something that will already be connected from the new stereo HU? Example - Red wire from new HU goes to Pin 10, but the red wire from the i88 adapter also goes to pin 10. Sorry if I sound stupid but This is my first stereo install and want to make sure I get this right. Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Connecting the 3 wires is intuitive in that as long as they have good contacts with each other you'll be fine. I usually just twist them all together just like when doing 2 wires then solder or heatshrink them (or both). Take a look at 3:15 and you'll see my connection on the red wire.
RP Garage thanks I kinda saw the red and figured that’s what you did. I just wanted to make sure I did the right thing before screwing it all up 😂 I can’t wait to get my panel set. Covid screwed up my the direct shipment from Japan to The US so they are sending it to a USA distributor in Portland, Oregon where they are going to ship it to me from. God bless America right? David from ae64 just took my order so I’m hoping to get that soon too. Just have to order my head unit...I’m thinking of going Sony XAV5000 or 5500 something that will match well this the black finish.
Hey man! I was wondering if steering wheel radio controls would still work after installing the head unit. I'm trying to install one myself but I don't want to lose those controls.
Im in Australia with an "04" liberty b4 (pre facelift). Would this work with my car? It doesn't already have the pre installed screen that the Japanese ones have
Silly question, but I got all this situated and it functions correctly, but the dash pieces don't line up anymore. I fiddled w/ it and noticed there were no ways I could change how anything is mounted. They are right in the screw holes and that's that. It's impossible to get the side bezels to clip into place b/c the JDM piece presses against them. Everything looks good on your install here though. What did you do to make the mirrored stuff line up with the LHD dash?

Hi, i am from Australia looking to the same in my 2003 Subaru Outback Wagon. Am buying a double din facia like yours, but with single climate control.Have a Sony XAV-AX5500 to go in. But very confused about with wiring harness to get, could you please point me in the right direction as to what i need. Thanks for any help you can give. Have watched heaps of install vids but just confused as to what actual harness i need
I'm not sure if you or anyone still reply to comments on this old video but I really need help/ information on how you would do this with a JDM version of the Legacy GT. My JDM version has a similar dual-zone climate control to the one seen here stock, but also has a Japanese nav unit on top where this one just has little door/shelf. Is it possible to replace this top nav unit with a double din head unit like the one you put into the radio spot, without having to buy the expensive separate JDM climate control unit, faceplate to fit head unit, and wiring pieces to wire it all? I have no idea how the wiring for the Japanese head unit works, or how the Navigation unit is connected, but if I just left the nav. unit on top, could I just follow what you have done the same way? Or is the JDM version of the vehicle different with maybe the wiring harness, climate control unit, etc. I really have no clue and am new to this so any help or links to pages that explain this stuff would be great. Also if anyone knows if I can replace the JDM navigation unit with an English one somehow, that would be very helpful as I can't find information anywhere.

Hi, Thanks for the video. I have not installed a stereo unit in the past and I have a question regarding speaker wire connections. Do you connect the same colour wires from the HU harness to the 14 pin harness from ae64? eg. white to white, black/white to black/white, gray to gray. Thanks for your help.
You'll have to take a look at the wiring diagram and match the right wires with each other. Every headunit will have different colors on their harness so you can't just base it on that but it should clearly tell you what the wire corresponds to
@@RPGarage Thanks for the reply. Were your speaker wire connections same colour to same colour or a mix? For instance, in my manual it mentions Fr. L. speaker is white and white black striped. Fr.
