When Steve gave me a tour of the bus 5-6 years ago it was almost surreal and very much felt that way. I very much enjoyed the time with Steve and very grateful for the private tour, attention to detail in the restoration (even down to the cigarette butts) and the striping lesson. McQueen is referring to the famous actor Steve McQueen, he kept his airplane at the same place that had the bus in Santa Paula, Cal. they were Buddies,, used to tip a few ,I’ve been told.. a transversely mounted six cylinder motor and auto trans , help move this bus. The bus has been written about as a 53 but the title says 50 . There are numerous photos on line if you search Von Dutch bus , of the interior both during and finished. Oct.17 there will be a presentation from the History Channel called “ Fully Torqued” about the restoration of the Von Dutch Bus . It’s been a long and expensive project , but my best was done, because of the art form that I live and love, and the man that started it all.

Mr kafia my uncle henry segura which was very good friends with dutch for years says the bus was grey not white and says dutch didnt
Dutch never washed the bus ,so it would appear gray to the human eye, thank you
