This was my reaction. I've shown it around and gotten a lot of meh reactions, but like for me it's just serotonin. Serotonin. Serotonin. It just made me smile. Like how can you not love this? It's classic thrash Metallica.
The ppl who give the "meh" reactions are usually the ones who want Metallica to rehash the days of Master of Puppets/And Justice For All and anything less will never be good enough. Or they'll contradict themselves by saying it has a 'Kill Em' All' sound but they don't like it cuz' it's not like their older stuff. Uhmm, huh? 🙄😕🤣

Takes me back to the Kill 'em All days ... even the guitar tone and solos are so throwback! Love it!!!!

My first big concert in Hamilton when the Black album had just dropped. 1992ish. I moved on to goth and industrial and somewhere along the line Metallica sort of became dad rock. All that aside, the song's the best thing I've heard from them in ages.
when you absorb the lyrics and realize this is them speaking to not just their fans but the masses...urging true solidarity, connection, love and communion. Uniting as one force against the darkness of the world especially today...add to that the RETURN to true thrash...F*CK yeah...
Yup, I got into Metallica through my dad. He listened to them non-stop when I was a kid and I loved it. Been my favourite band since~ :P
Hey Ashley Scott here .I teared up as well ,because to me this song went back to their Roots but then added alittte new style as well if that makes sense but if felt like it could have been on an album like Ride the Lightning or something.
They have been playing the hell out of this on the radio and I can't get enough of it. BTW it's a very dangerous song while driving on the highway 🤣🤣🤣

Lars is actually using one of his older drum sets so it of course sounds great 😀😀 I love Lars anyway, he's one of my favorite drummers.
My personal feeling is Metallica lost some of their awesomeness after they lost Cliff, but still love them.
They lost a lot when they were whining about Napster while still pulling in millions. St anger was just angst over said death so it came off sloppy. I respect what they've done in paving the way, a like most of their stuff, but talk about sell outs, so desperately clawing for relevancy that they couldn't do enough stranger things press events.
All that said, this was a successful attempt to bring back their old sound.
@James Talkington Oh god. Don't even mention Napster around me. I will say James's singing seems to really have improved as well. I will agree that it was a pretty rocking track though.

Not like in a negative way but if you like Death Magnetic you're really missing out on the one after hardwired to self destruct I'd recommend spit out the bone Atlas rise you know if you like Death Magnetic. I'm not a fanboy just trying to push more good Metallica to people.🤘

Sadly zero bass can be heard from Rob, Kirks solo is so subpar. This is a circlejerk between James and Lars for sonic space. Lower the drum sound, up the bass guitar, and tell Kirk his first and only take on the solo is weak af

This is the style that works for them , it's not everyone's cup of tea.. but the view numbers and album sales should speak for themselves... the only production I hated was St. anger.
The rest are cool especially Justice.
