Powermetalesque, like Helloween with Andy Deris or NWoBHM like Turn Your Head Around by Tank. I also heard some Hellbound by Warlock and Til The Living End by Dokken and Lies by Royal Hunt.
I Started Playing Guitar In 1985..W/ Metallica As My Metal Riff Teacher & After Hearing The 1st Riffs Of This Song…I Instantly Got A ‘Hit The Lights’ Kind Of Vibe!! Keep Rockin’!! From The Studio Of ‘Old Moody Fooka’ 😊
Loved James voice, loved Kirk's solo, but the rest was kind of meh. Not bad, but it didn't blow me away. It reminded me of a Motorhead song. Just full-throttle rock n roll. This song could have been of the Load or Re-Load albums.
This song is great for where they are in their career. It definitely reminds me of Hit The Lights, from "Kill em' All" , but with a "Hardwired to Self Destruct" sound to it. Like you said, they can't have that exact sound and feel from their music when they were in their 20's. Every band hits high point and it goes down from there, but I think is straight forward metal.
I just listened to Kill 'em All the other day and it doesn't remind me of that at all. It kinda reminds me of the Motorhead covers they did on Garage Inc. Its okay but its still Metallica so it gives me hope. Happy belated Birthday Alexia!
The rhythm guitar reminded me of Van Halen in spots. In the 1968nmovie "2001 : A Space Odyssey", the eerie choral music behind the part where Dave seems to be transcending, (the psychedelic light show) is Gyorgy Ligeti's "Lux Aeterna".
A triumphant return. Have said elsewhere that the opening descending riff has Mustaine written all over it, which it does. The rest of the song reminds me of Hit the Lights (there are some borderline musical quotes in there) and Motorhead. James sounds INCREDIBLE. The riffs and rhythm sound are killer. The drum sounds scream "triggered" to me (even though they may not have been) and they were likely doctored during mixing. Don't care for Kirk's solo (sorry). Same old stuff. His shredding mixed with blues licks and dive-bombs bugs me. Overall, though, the band sounds amazing! Thanks for this reaction. Really enjoyed it!
We're all cool together Alexia!! I'm not really qualified on Metallica, learning bits and pieces from your channel, but I enjoyed it. Very straightforward, but Lars did OK for someone his age! I have seen the movie though; Nick and I thought it was one of the best rock movies ever. Fascinating insight into the pressures of being in a huge band. Thanks for doing the reaction guys, I doubt I would have heard this otherwise.
Hi guys, interesting track, dispite the overall power, all I kept thinking was, the album "Deep Purple in Rock", because of the backing rhythm guitar riff. Something Richie Blackmore did particularly on that album. I wouldn't consider this a hit single like "The Unforgiven" or "Nothing Else Matters" but a new album on the horizon I think wll be more exciting. Byeee Jim X
I heard of this release recently, this video was my first listen to it. As a long time Metallica fan (since the early 1980s), I'm glad this was on the heavier side (reminiscent of their "Hardwired" material, to me), afraid it might've been on the softer and commercial side. Good song, and thanks for the listen!
Hey Nick & Lex, Was hoping that you both were going to react to the new Metallica single and I'd figured that you would like it and I love it and can't wait to hear more if they may revisit their past or try to keep up with today's modern metal? Well, I'm hoping that you both are ready for that ride when their new release comes out next year!! Sending you all love & prayers!! Can't wait to hear from you soon!! Thanks & Keep Rockin'!!, Walter - 🤘❤🌲🧑🎄🙏🤘
I actually was excited to hear this. But sadly it still Really falls in to middle of the road later Metallica! I dont dislike but am once again underwhelmed. Does have good energy! Thanks for posting this! Love you both!😊
The song reminds me a lot of "Hit the Lights." Straight ahead, fast and a powerful sound. A good starting point, like Star Wars Episode 7. I just hope they don't screw it up exactly like that 😄. Surely there will be long and complex songs on the album like on "Hardwired" and "Death Magnetic". It's just great, 2022, Metallica is still here, healthy and making new music! 🤘
On one hand a good song, on the other nothing really new. Honestly, if I want to hear Metallica, I listen to the old stuff from beginning to Black Album, sometimes a bit symphony, sometimes some Garage Inc and one or the other song of Death Magnetic, which would have been a much better album, if they wouldn't have extended the 50 good minutes, they had, into a 70 minute CD, too many repetitions ...
New material. New tour. Nothing to complain about. More Metallica. More metal🤘
Powermetalesque, like Helloween with Andy Deris or NWoBHM like Turn Your Head Around by Tank. I also heard some Hellbound by Warlock and Til The Living End by Dokken and Lies by Royal Hunt.
Thanks for (new to me) heavy metal magic. 😎👍🌠❤

hey Nick and Lex, not a fan of Metallica, but I wanted to suggest doing a Fleetwood Mac reaction in honor of Christine McVie's passing.
Loved James voice, loved Kirk's solo, but the rest was kind of meh. Not bad, but it didn't blow me away. It reminded me of a Motorhead song. Just full-throttle rock n roll. This song could have been of the Load or Re-Load albums.
Wow new material, nice and fast, nice guitars, nice drums, nice roar, nice boring.
😂
You are a lucky man Nick.........a gorgeous wife who appreciates Metallica
I’ve heard this song 50-11 times and I just heard something new in it😂
and what is that?
Thanks for sharing & I appreciate the articulate comparisons to past Metallica tracks.

Metal with NicknLex!!!🤣
Has that whiplash vibe, awesome song can't wait for the new album.

Hey guys, have you listened to Metallica's Hardwired to Self Destruct? Its pretty darned good. Its definately a banger! Love your vids...Thank you!
I actually was excited to hear this. But sadly it still

Love you back!! :)
Metallicas new music is🔥🚒
Please react to Teramaze - Her Halo. Thank you. #nicknlexrequest
And people said that Phil Towle ruined Metallica. HA!!! They sound as great as ever.
Someone's Crying by Helloween

Thanks again so much for letting me know Tobi. I did really like it🤘🤘🤘
have you guys done sabaton reaction?
Decent tune but I wanna hear more 😜..
Hopefully, like with Hardwired, the first song released from a new album is the worst song. If so, I'm confident I'll love the album.
Very Van Halenesque.
Not bad but not great either, it's like Hit The Lights meets It's Electric, but it sounds a bit too generic to me
Hopefully the album is GD then

Not horribly original but a good song.
The solo IS awful
