Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

Colbert needs to up his game man. Didn't do a great interview there; luckily Sebastian carried him through.
Colbert has no game. His so called comedy is all about his own politics and how smart he thinks he is. You can tell he doesn’t like to be upstaged by a genuine person.
He fumbled the burr interview as well. Maybe he just doesn’t know how to highlight comedians.

I always take my shoes off - don’t want to drag in whatever I walked in out in the world.
It’s an American thing. It’s a disgusting practice. Imagine walking around in your shoes all day and then walking around at home. The mall, the bathroom at the mall, the gas station, the parking lot etc…then walk around my house? How is that in any way sanitary? It’s really bizarre.
I always take me shoes off at someone’s house. People better take their shoes off at my house and take home some cat hair too lol.
Sebastian was throwing out constant jokes and Colbert missed them all...

Wasn't really an interview, just a interviewlike setting where he shared a few of his popular gags about sock circles and etc. Most comics dont do real interviews on these shows, they just do set up questions where they respond with a pre rehearsed gag. He da man doe. He da man.
Agreed. Too short a spot to highlight how funny this man really is. Also he looked real uncomfortable doing his thing sitting down. He needs to be moving around - his body language is half his act.

He's been at it for a while. Glad he's finally getting the recognition he's due. Broke through with the Wild West Comedy Show a decade ago and has steadily grown in popularity. One of my all-time favorite comedians.
He meant they ( other talk show hosts) had never asked him to sit on the couch and talk. He's been on other talk shows, but, only did his routine on those shows--no couch talk / interview.
He did sit on the couch in one of Jay Leno's late night shows. He seems to have forgotten about it apparently!

Oh my God, look up his specials on Netflix or Amazon. You'll shit yourself, he's a RIOT. I just saw him in Atlantic City this past weekend, and my face was so sore the day after from laughing so hard during his set. His specials are called, "What's Wrong with People," "Aren't You Embarassed," and "Why Would You Do That?" Very telling titles, his material is so great.
I was raised that outdoor shoes were not worn indoors, so this is strange to me. Why would I want to track everything that I walked through all day into my home!? That's just nasty!

This guy is funny as heck. Years ago I had the exact same experience when I was invited to a neighbors house. The lady who answered the door was attractive and asked me to take my shoes off. I told her I'd take my shoes off if she'd take her bra off. I was never invited back. No loss.

I love Sebastian and find Colbert very dry, but to be fair, the tension here comes from Colbert wanting to have an _interview_ as an actual conversation, but Sebastian is delivering his set pieces, rather than chatting, which makes it seem like Colbert is interrupting him - because he is!

A year or two ago I saw him and John Mulaney in Cleveland (think on the same night, but can't remember) as openers to another comedian. Now both are getting huge with specials. Especially John with the awesome Netflix specials.
