Jimmy Kimmel & Sebastian Maniscalco on Growing Up Italian
• Jimmy Kimmel & Sebasti... Развлечения
Seems like this is a genuine interview. These two got good chemistry for sure
Of course they got along !! We Italians were born to communicate properly. We don't have anxiety when talking to each other because we know that the other Italian is completely authentically truthful...... and if they are not we pick up on it. Which rarely happens. Just imagine how you spoke to other kids when you were a kid. That's how we talk to each other. No hidden agenda. It just flows.
i agree, I was thinking, man what can they do together. Frankly Jimmy is a sweetheart and so is Sebastian so it makes perfect sense.
Remember how difficult but awesome it was when Jimmy got emotional about the mass shootings and his new born’s heart condition? When I saw how courageous he was with being able to show his emotions as one of the most visible men TV, well I already loved Jimmy but in that moment it took my appreciation of him to a new level. At that point he became an inspiration, not just an entertainer.
But I digress. But yes, you gotta love Sebastian and his crazy body language. The guy is Gold.
Italians are warm people they click with each other pretty quick
I kinda found the opposite , seemed a bit forced
brooklyp
Im so happy this guy is finally blowing up. He deserves it. Great dude
Lmao this ain’t a interview... it’s a jimmy Kimmel hangs out with a good friend and we’re all just watching it LOL
Love Sebastian his “aren’t you embarrassed” special is still in my top 5!
truly one of the best stand-up specials ever made
Had to come back here and thank you...thats the funniest show I've ever watched. Thanks
Latif you should see his special "Why Would You Do That" on Showtime. HILARIOUS
Latif
"Taking a Lonley" is my favorite from there.
Check the "what's wrong with people" man.. You'll like it
Maniscalco in Italian means "horseshoer" (people who make horse-shoes).
Susan Gagliano no way really?
@@guitarsz yes
I wonder what he thinks about that and if his dad knows of any family relevance to that since they say a lot of names go back to jobs the family had like hundreds of years ago or something-how cool
Susan Gagliano otherwise known as a "farrier."
luigi ventroni footloose jfk
This dude is hilarious!! His facial expressions and body movements crack me up.
The "evil eye" is believed in many cultures.
Yup, I'm Greek and I heard similar "evil eye" stories, including the bowl of water & olive oil to tell if you have it thing.
It’s huge in the Arab community
the muslim community and not the just the arabs :-)
Fizz Whizz It’s popular in many Mediterranean and Asian cultures
Everything they said I grew up with...........
I love how that interview turned into like a real genuine conversation between the two, love Sebastian he’s so down to earth 💯
So relatable!!! Italian families seem a lot like Asian and Arab families! Underrated...
hashman94 بالضبط 👍🏻
Yes, many similarities including the discipline lol
I think Greeks do the evil eye too
@@scottelement yeah we do
@@nikohagisavas153 👍🏻
Greece is seriously one of the most beautiful places around
XD ROFL "Dad I got a job at the Olive garden .. and he starts weeping"
Yeah, I totally thought that as a good Italian, he was weeping in shame. 😄
My kid would never work at the Olive Garden it's an insult to the Italian culture
😲😁😺
3:50 "Yoogaahhhddid..." LOL love Sebastian!
He is by far the funniest comedian out there. I could have the worst day ever, throw on his show and not be able to breathe from laughing so hard. I love the way he says, "Dad." LOL.
Nate Bargatze and Mark Normand too. If you like this dude and don't know these other two I mentioned then do yourself a favor and indulge.
"No Dad...it's an Italian restaurant."
"The Olive Garden" is NOT an Italian restaurant!
The first one is a quote from the video. The second one is my reaction, not a quote. I used quotes for the name of the restaurant.
@@davidthaler7018 You didn't have to use quotes to name the restaurant lol
Jazz Heart I didn’t need to use quotes for the name of the restaurant, nor was I envisioning air quotes when I typed that. However, air quotes do fit.
Quotes or not, my point stands-it’s not an Italian restaurant.
David Thaler The Olive Garden is not a REAL Italian restaurant. They are an Italian restaurant like Taco Bell is a Mexican restaurant.
I took my dad to Olive Garden once, keep in mind that my whole family was born in Rome, me included. He spits out the food and says he couldn’t give this away to homeless people.
Maniscalco looks like he's got a fair amount of cologne aura himself..
"One on each wrist and walk thru the mist..." is what he told Seinfeld.
Yes lol. He looks like he smells amazing. That’s funny
and baby powder
yeah, i got orangina.
Sidown
NOBODY HAS.... ORANGINA
Lmaooo
Change out your cubes!!!
ill get water from the hose
My Nonno (Grandpa) gave my Mom a necklace with an eye on it when she was a teenager, so if any boy treated her bad they'd get the malocchio haha
Finally a talk show interview where Sebastian actually looks comfortable! Kimmel is the best and I look forward to Sebastian’s Netflix special. He’s hilarious 😂
Actually Jimmy was right about the "evil eye" thing.. Being from an Italian family myself.. You had to be taught on Christmas Eve...How it actually works is you put 3 drop of olive oil into a bowl of water. If it disperses into one large one you have it. If it remains as 3 drops your fine.
Growing up my Italian grandma who emigrated to America 🇮🇹 in 1915 I learned about the Malocchio / Evil Eye. I saw her do the chanting and I saw her remove the curse. Then she taught me the secret words that I must say silently to myself while doing a hand gesture that no one must see. The combination of the two would redirect the curse back onto the person who is complementing you. I was warned never to reveal the secrets. To this day I have not done so and I don’t plan to. Just in case. You never know. There is always a Strega/Witch 👹 or two out there. Like I learned in the military always come prepared. 😅
You learned witchcraft.
Respect hopefully u passed the tradition the next generation
Ronnie James Dio took the malocchio concept and invented the evil eye/horns gestures you see in rock concerts.
@@MrZargon28 I do not know who Ronnie James Dio is but I will Google him because you have steeped my curiosity. Thank you
I could not find any photographs or videos pertaining to what you mentioned. I would like to see the gestures and the horn/cornicello/Corno Portafortuna.
@@abdelll9737 It was protection from evil. She never wished I’ll will on anyone.
“I don’t even think Google knows about this” lmao
Sebastian's obsession with cologne... People who listen to the Pete & Sebastian show would know. Big fan of him and Pete.
I’m from Colombia and we called Mal de Ojo ... same tales 😂😂😂
Yes but your people are not warm and friendly, and the cuisine ain't as large ;) Just saying.. ; )
Jennifer C RN 🤔
Ahahhahahaha
Oh my god! Cannot believe "Malocchio" made it on american TV! I come from the countryside of Marche, in Italy, and this thing is still alive, even though only old people and religious people believe in it. They also call it ""Marcaduto" which translate to evil events made on purpose.
I too had the malocchio checked and the results weren't 100% sure but I didn't know about the prayer.
Funny how it made it on TV! Thanks for the giggle. 😆
Alessandro Luciani OMG my family is from Fano!! Le Marche is beautiful!!
Evan Williams wow! I'm a little south, from Fermo! And you're right, Marche is beautiful!!
We have that in Islam, too. It's called "al ayn" or "the evil eye."
No one can know the prayer( except the Fattuchiera ) because It’s a secret that’s been kept for generations. Only a member of you’re family can teach you at midnight on Christmas Eve if they choose you to practice this ancient art.
Alessandro Luciani my people were from Marche!
I've never heard of him before, but the way he talks and tells stories is amazing😂👌🏼
Sky Dalbah He's the best! Check him out on Netflix! You will be in tears
He's annoying. He milks his slow delivery and is too proud of it.
Sounds like you wanna be milked boy
Sky look up his video about the door bell it is hilarious.
It's so refreshing to see an interview turn into just an actual real conversation
Never heard of this guy... he was great! Love the old school humble Italian, seems like a great guy!
Doych Lobo watch his stand up asap.
Just saw him do a quick set on Fallon's show... it was great... his voice and mannerisms are hilarious.. took me a minute to understand what he was doin, but it's him/his schtick... The chipotle had me laughing out loud.
onna watch his whole standup tonight I think...
Sebastian really opened up here, the chemistry was interesting between them.
“He starts weeping.......” 😂😂😂
Omg I love this conversation as a second generation Italian American.
The evil eye is the best thing we Italians do love hearing this
two of my favorite entertainers …ever!!!!
Sebastian is gorgeous and his amazing sense of humor makes him even more gorgeous 😍
Traditions like that are freaking hilarious. If I was Sebastian or Jimmy I would pass that down to my kids
John Smith ....Kimmel kid is sht!!
Yup, irrational superstitions like that sure are hilarious. Let's be sure and keep propagating them down the generations. It's not like such beliefs lead to stuff like 9/11 or anything. 🙄
CONGRATULATIONS SEB... your great
You cannot even imagine how ancient the "Evil eye" is: it comes from rituals of the Ancient Rome, would you believe it?
Comes from ancient Greece
it comes from waaay before ancient greece or rome...
but of course western education only gives you the idea that everything started in rome or greece.
typical.
@@pablogats4627 Albanian too
We can take it back all the way to the Key of Solomon I think, as in that book we have alot of “magic”
He is THE BEST! So much love for the guy.
Sebastian is the only reason I am watching a clip of Kimmels sad show.
Truth!
me too...
Amen
And better than fallon. Id say all talk shows are out the door after Conan leaves.
Chris J LOL, me too!!!
I've loved this guy ever since I 1st saw him on Vince Vaughn's wild West comedy tour.....
Dude's got some great comedic timing!!!!!
◇Malocchio
◇Mal de ojo
◇Evil eye

✋🧿✋🧿✋🧿✋🧿✋🧿✋🧿✋
I read his book too...glad he's finally getting to the top. We need to see more of this comedian on TV! He's hilarious!
Did Jimmy become a little more Italian in this interview? 🤨
Yep his accent came out, happens to me when im with chicano people 😝
I'm English now living in Canada, my accent comes out when I'm around other English people. Basically, you stop altering the way you speak and revert back to your original dialect.
Lmao never mind this was just out of this world funny and I absolutely relate to everything they just talked about
My parents were next to me listening, my father laughed throughout the whole interview...
My mother stopped laughing from the moment they started talking about the malocchio...
My mother said to me “you laugh, after dont come runnin to me when you have a headache that you feel like your eyes are about to pop out ok?”
My grandparents are from Sicily...love hearing the stories again!!
Old school, sicily, like Godfather
Benny Sim lol. Wow. Now I can’t unsee/hear that.
Having ancestry from Sicily on my mother's side, it's nice to learn more about the culture for sure. This was funny AND educational :)
Sebastian is the BEST Comedian! He's funny even in interviews. :-D
In the Middle East they have this glass blue eyes charms to protec you from the Evil eye and in Venezuela we use a little black hand charm made out of a stone called Azabache for the same reason and if the charm breaks which happens sometimes it means the stone took the Evil eye instead of you
I can’t believe they know Malocchio 😂😂😂
The Christmas midnight thing is very real 😂😂😂
im excited for this new netflix special!
He is a very funny comedian. Was kind of surprised he never took off but I'm so glad he still around!
Love Sebastian!
He has been my favorite comedian for years! Absolutely love him!
Sebastian has some funny stand-up. Looking forward to his next gig.
i laughed my ass off throughout the interview... The audience didnt give the same energy though. weird
The Audience probably never heard of this tradition
Ric
Wasnt funny at all
american audience is clueless
@@hgodvilla00 there are over 340 million of us in the US..newsflash: we're not all the same.
I think Sebastian is hilarious.
Love his stand-up!
In Greece we have the same with evil eye😂😂😂
"You gaaaaawwwwd it." lol
Can't wait for his special on Netflix
love this guy he’s hilarious!!
So excited he’s making another Netflix special!!!!!
Hope he is around for many years to come!!!.... God bless..
Jimmy! This was a great conversational interview, not rushed with your prompt questions like recent interviews :)
I could already hear his voice before I clicked on the video lmaoooo he's hilarious
It sounds like After talking to Sebastian Jimmy started developing an accent 😂
It happens to me also when I watch him 😂
I met Sebastian in Brooklyn. He's so amazing and as hot as he is funny!
Been a fan since his early days, love the bit about faith the dog who walks around on two legs😅 and "the bin Laden hit" there's so many good bits," jury duty" is hilarious
Oh, damnit, if this isn't hardcore italian storytelling ) He is the effing masta!
Love it! I learned to get rid of “the evil eye” while living in Sicily, the kimmel version is the one I know.
"Mal de ojo" in latino culture.
tonynitrox Italian culture is Latin culture
I'll never forget hearing my two spanish coworkers going off about "The Ojo." The one brings it up and other goes, "oh my god yes! and the thing where the crack the egg on your head and..." and they just started going off about these traditions, I was dying! Everyone is connecting over urban myths.
Malocchio in Italian!
This was such a good interview 🤣🤣🤣
i love this guy man
I am from the south of Italy, and my mother and my sister would practise this.A tea cup, water, olive oil drops, pray.
And i was always told off for laughing at this, haha.but it worked on my father's headaches.
No chemicals involved though so at least it was only a phsycological influence.
Now people use tablets for anything...
3:50 See, now THIS is why THE SOPRANOS should still be going, so that it could employ THIS guy...
In our house, the midnight prayer was used by selected 'practitioners' or in other words, healers, and only they could use them to dispell the malocchio. I can't believe this is being discussed on national tv--thanks Sebastian.
LOVE Sebastian, Have seen his shows and he is fabulous. Will see him again at the end of March 2019 YAY!!!
These two together are awesome!
Love this guy. Could play any venue ... period. This guy could tear the roof off a building packed with sold out 20-30,000 easy.
I love Sebastian! My family and I just watched his episode of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee today! We call him, “Aren’t You Embarrassed?” Like that’s his name.
My grandmother use to do this and yes I've learnt and watch this. She also left me a medallion with the blessed mother on one side and a mustard seed on the other.don't know what it means but cherish always.
Well they are both Italian💚🇮🇹🇮🇹♥️
Love this guy!
LOVE this guy!!
Sebastian on Netflix finally! Yay!!! 👍
i love sebastian with a passion
I completely undertand this. My family do the samething.
I love Sebastian! LMAO
Love him. So funny. I am Dominican and can relate to lots of the comedy comments
issey miyake, rocking that right now
In Cuba it was called Maldeojo. When we were little we wore this pin on our clothes that consisted of two stones--a black one (azabache)and a coral. This was supposed to keep you safe from "the evil eye" or maldeojo.
One of the funnyest comedians.
Indeed many cultures have the evil eye. But this specific thing with olive and water it's exactly the same for Greeks (who in all honesty are not much different than Italians, especially Sicilians) . I thought we were the only ones to have to deal with this foolish thing. I mean even today MANY people take it seriously.
@a1seus right! of course EVERYTHING is x3!
Greece and Italy were both part of the Roman empire at one time more similar than most think.
I loooooovvvvveeee this man , lol 😆
So funny watching these paisanos talk, reminds me of the fathers and uncles of my Italian friends.
My favorite comic lately🤣😂
Great interview
The funny thing about Malocchio ... you don't have to believe in it if you don't want to, but all I can say is when my kids get it, they get these mood swings... and without knowing, when I have it checked, they stop a minute later. Again -- you don't have to believe it, but geez -- one can't make this up.
I love this guy he is a riot
SM is an amazing comic. Some of the best physical comedy I've ever seen. Not sure that he views himself that way, but he should. One of the best ever, and I'm not even Italian. Best of luck SM, no evil eye here - only respect!
These 2 should be in a movie together about a couple of Italian brothers that get caught up in a case of mistaken identity with the mafia.
Love Sebastian ....he’s hilariousssssss ❤️😂❤️😂❤️😂❤️😂😂❤️😂❤️🤣❤️🤣❤️🤣❤️
i looove sebastian..
