    I’d like to talk about women who Are 35/ 40 older who don’t have children and are still single but get shunned or constantly put down as not “woman enough” or not “adult enough” by peers with families of their own

      Lyn Yes! Also the pressure and constant questions "when are you going to have a baby?" "When are you going to be a mom?" I heard that right after a miscarriage and it took my breath away. I wish people would stop asking that question of any young woman.

      God I'm 28 and I've turned down two proposals from two serious relationships and have never been pregnant. Never want to be married or have children. I've said this for as long as I can remember and I'm still constantly told "you'll change your mind when you're older" 🙄🙄🙄 It's already turning into my married and parenting friends not inviting me to do things anymore as they feel I'm not as mature as them. Would love this topic to include the twenty somethings who feel like I do as well as the 30/40/50+ somethings like us who are not less of women for not wanting to appease societal expectations.

      Kat Ambriz god that's just awful. Having a child is something so incredibly personal and no one ever knows what someone else has been through. I am so sorry someone was such an insensitive shit to say that to you, especially during such a sensitive time.

      That would be a great topic! I’m 35, been married for 15 years and I don’t have a desire for children. People make me feel guilty and I’m starting to think something is wrong with me because I don’t have that desire :(

    Hurray for anyone talking about abusive relationship! It’s such a complex and difficult thing to be in and understand for outsiders. I was in an abusive relationship for 20 yrs. I felt like an idiot for not leaving him (looking back), but he diminished my self esteem to the point that I didn’t believe I could cope without him. He was an extremely kind and helpful towards others. All my friends and my own family supported him. I was the villain, the crazy one for leaving him and no one believed me when I told them about 20 yrs of rape and mental abuse. Since I “willingly” remained in the relationship for 20 yrs, it couldn’t be true, I was making it up, they thought.
    I found the courage and power to leave, it started by me being on internet and I found a relationship group where I could air all my feelings and I got heaps of support. People guided me to where I could get help, economical advice, legal advice etc. So I left and never looked back. He tried to make a living hell for me afterwards, but I survived and learned that this girl is a hell of strong, courageous,stubborn and powerful woman. My heart goes out to every single one of you who are in an abusive relationship. Abuse is not only physical violence, remember that. If someone is trying to prevent you from blooming, takes away your self esteem, belittles you or tries to mould you into something you’re not, or does not respect your boundaries, it’s time to ask yourself if you are in an abusive relationship.

    • @MarlenaStell
      @MarlenaStell  5 лет назад +4

      THIS!!! Abusers often are very charming and put on a great show for others- it's part of the manipulation. People couldn't believe that my ex was abusive either, but my close family knew and boldly stated from the beginning that they didn't like him. I didn't listen because I fell for the charming bit also. Wish I could give you the biggest dang hug and tell you congrats on how strong you are. I felt your comment on such a deep level. Glad you got out and wish you SOOOO much happiness moving forward!!!

      "Charming everyone to manipulate," "trying to prevent you from blooming, takes away your self esteem, belittles you or tries to mould you into into something you're not, or does not respect your *boundaries* " ....sht! Let me add - tried to isolate and ruin every loving fam/friendly relationship I have. Once he realized he couldn't, he makes me feel guilty for spending time with them that I often hide it. My own family!

    Abuse comes in so many packages. You hit on such a good point.. Being in a relationship -of all kinds - that looks "ideal" from the outside create a false sense of guilt. You do not talk about it because we tend to think that abuse is about physical abuse or sexual abuse - but the emotional abuse cuts deep and these are the scars no one sees. I often was told, "wow you have a perfect life!" - If only you knew, sister. Whenever I voiced that I was unhappy, my well-intentioned family members or friends would tell me - that he didn't hit me, he didn't cheat and I had a nice car, house, and could buy whatever I wanted. But what went on behind closed doors created so much pain and PTSD that it has taken years for me to recover. So say it, sister! Let's open up about this type of abuse -the emotional abuse no one sees. The one we tell ourselves they don't mean or that we somehow need to learn from because we must be flawed. Thank you for this video!! I will take this as a sign that it is time for me to open up as well. Many Blessings Gorgeous Goddess!

      Ada Esquerre As human beings we tend to look at the physical aspect. How you look, what you wear, etc but Never do we stop and just Listen to the words that is being expressed by the individuals.so sad, very said but let me tell you about someone who always listens. God knows and when our words cannot say what is in our hearts, our tears delivers it to him, because he understands the language of our tears. He is making a way for you and everyone who calls on him.

      Exactly! I work in this “area” and one of the things I see most is what I call the false perfect. What will happen if everyone finds out that my perfect doesn’t even exist?

    • @AFFTFOMSICHTS
      @AFFTFOMSICHTS 5 лет назад +2

      Ada Esquerre yes!!! I was in a both a physical and emotional/verbal Abusive relationship and I overcame the physical abuse quickly but the verbal and emotional abuse took me almost a decade to overcome and ppl who haven’t been there just don’t get it. And the only time ppl felt bad is when I had black eyes or visible bruises but all the emotional and verbal abuse no one cared about when that’s what effected me the worst.

    I love that ur talking about this. I was abused by my other 2-20 yrs.old i then continued as a woman to repeat being best friends with women who would verbally or physically abuse me. I have a great hubby who is so loving and supportive. We never think of our female mothers or friends of being physically or emotionally abusive but it is possible. I have healed and forgiven now. I do not repeat these behaviors any longer but I think it is important talking about it being a cycle. Breaking the cycle of abuse.

    • @jennajune2101
      @jennajune2101 5 лет назад +4

      alyssa rosengard my mother is extremely abusive, so I know exactly what you’re saying. I also chose female “best friends” who abused me either emotionally or mentally, because that’s what I knew. I now have 3 sons & I believe in discipline, but I would never abuse them. Breaking that cycle isn’t easy, especially when you come from 100s of years of it. But it CAN be done 💜

    Hi Marlena. My sister was in an abusive marriage for 28 years. I think what people may not realize is it stays with you always. You don't get out and then it's over. Your attitude about it afterwards is what helps and I think this is what you were alluding to. My heart and respect are with you. I hope your courage will help some one💖

    Thank you for bringing light to this! I was emotionally abused in a relationship for 5 years when I was in my early 20’s. I had a fiancé that isolated me from family & friends. Of course that made it harder to get out of it. When I finally broke things off with him, I felt so empowered & in control of my life! I urge anyone in such a relationship to put yourself first & you can do it!

    Makeup Monday | Wellness Wednesday | Fashion Friday
    I'm digging it 😉
    As someone who has been through emotional / verbal abuse, I appreciate all support and reassurance after the fact. So many people saw it happening and let it happen, making me think the way I was being treated was normal. Once I got away from the toxic people, I felt like I could breathe. I still have trust issues and problems letting people in. Most people think I'm being cold but I just feel like my barrier is still necessary for my sanity. Sending love to anyone who has been through any kind of abuse. It is NOT your fault ❤️❤️❤️
    PS. my abuse was from a coach that I almost thought of as a father (not a relationship)

    I just watched all of your recent chat videos - I can relate so much to you when talking about chronic health issues. It is so draining, and sometimes just feels never-ending. I felt incredibly touched over the videos I watched, seeing you be so open and candid about your life updates. Life isn't something you can plan for, life happens. The one thing that is obvious, is that you continue to get up and move forward. You really have come so far - I've been following you for around 9 years at this point. Anyway, I give you a lot of credit to continue putting yourself out there like this. So many times I have found myself feeling validated as you talk about things, so thank you. Hoping 2019 is filled with even more happiness and growth! (Also, on a personal level, I was very curious about the spiritual changes you talked about. That is something I have been seeking to come to peace with.)

I am now going back down in a bit of a spiral fast and I am fighting to get back to my self. I know that even all of those I have helped in my community have been telling me that I have to help OTHERS and that I need to start my channel. I am HONESTLY worried. I was a chubby girl too. It still hurts me to think of the number of people, some family but mostly acquaintances and absolute strangers, who constantly focused only on my weight. They *Always* had to bring it up in *Every* conversation. It's almost as If they felt it was their duty, their purpose in life to remind that I was an overweight child/teen. I know it said more about them than me, but to be labeled and maligned as some sort of abnormality was very soul crushing.

    I am so happy to hear you share some of your stories ! As a woman, I’ve also have gone through a lot. Depression, stress, anxiety, mental breakdown, and abuse. Not just abuse from family but from significant others. And all forms. It really does help to talk about it and get it out. Sadly, I feel as a woman, at one point in or lives, sometimes more, we all (or most) will be or have been in an abusive relationship. And it’s good to know there’s a place to share stories and release it with people who won’t judge or demean you. Good luck with your journey ! And God Bless.

You have gotten me through so many sleepless nights and a lot of the time you feel alone during those times .I am grateful I found you one night ,just playing around on you tube looking at makeup videos bc at that time I felt so bad about myself that i thought if I knew how to put eyeshadow on better id look better and therefore feel better.I've had many ups and downs in my life just like everyone else. I would just like to thank you for being there all of those sleepless nights when I thought to myself over and over "this cant be my life"your new perso. You have helped so many many without even knowing it, i look forward to your new more personal videos,and hopefully men and women will be able to tell you just how much you've saved them because I know you saved me many times.Thank you again and here's to a wonderful 2019, and you making this world better a little bit at a time!! ❤️❤️

    I'm just a minute and a half into the video when you mention how great things are for you in your business and love life. When you said you were with a wonderful man, I started to tear up. I just needed to pause this video and say I'm so genuinely happy for you, Marlena. You are a wonderfully kind, hard-working person, and deserve all the success and love this life has to offer. I wish you a much better year in 2019.
    And yes, please do chatty videos! We need people to open up about abuse, mental health issues, inner conflict, etc. and help end the stigma.

    Hey babe Happy New Year! I can define relate to this video. Thank you. I hate it when people ask “why would she /he stay with that person if they are so abusive”? The person being abused is most likely in love with their abuser. People don’t understand hot hard it is to leave someone your in love with, who is also hurting you.

      April Romanek exactly! Plus being afraid to leave, not having the money to go and the fear of being alone forever. I’m happier “alone” than I was with him. That’s for sure. , I just didn’t believe it, since it was pounded (literally) into my head every day

      Especially when you don't always recognize abuse since it's not always black and white (or, perhaps black and blue is a better phrase). Abusers are manipulative and prey on any weak points. Gaslighting and other forms of emotional manipulation are not always clear or easily identifiable, especially when it starts off with a one-off comment and slowly escalates. It's all part of a vicious cycle.

      Ppl who havent been thru it can not possibly understand. Its not always 100% abuse all the time, we had some good memories but the abuse overshadowed everything. I felt leaving would be giving up on my marriage and letting my family down. In the end, I had to do what was best for me.

    Hi Marlena! I’m excited for the “real talk” vids to come. I have watched you for what seems forever.. And I love seeing my fav youtubers use their platform to have real talks about real life. If even you reach out to one person who is in that dark place and inspire them to reach for light then it’s all worth it. Coming from a past riddled with varying types of abuse, I always say I wished I had had something or someone that could have helped guide me through it. Through the emotions, the thoughts, &/or actions of choosing myself first. It took a long time, but I made it and have had a wonderful life ever since. Can’t wait to see what’s to come!

    Thank you for using the voice and the platform that you have to spread awareness and to possibly help those individuals going through some of these very difficult struggles. I personally have been through some of these issues, like many, and am so grateful and thankful to be on the other side and able to look back at that time in my life and reflect. I have learned so much about myself and others. I have so much yet to learn. That’s part of being human, we are always learning and evolving. None of us knows everything. Telling myself it’s ok to have a bad day, That tomorrow is a new day, a fresh start.
    And on the other hand to realize that tomorrow isn’t certain, to make the most of every moment that I am given in this life with my family and how precious life truly is. I have lost several family member closest to me over the last 7 years and it’s been very difficult. I am pushing through, I have to keep pushing for my husband and teenage son.

    Happy New Year gorgeous! Making a video about abuse is really important and doing it with the platform you have is so brave of you. I have dealt with abuse in every form by the same man (my child's father) It took 16 years for me to finally break free from it... And by break free I mean the emotional hold I let him have over me. It has now been 4 years since and I now have a wonderful man in my life who showed me what is it like to be truly loved and appreciated. That in turn gave me to ability to show my child what a healthy respectful and loving relationship looks like. The stigma surrounding abuse needs to be gone. So many people suffer in silence and it needs to stop. Thank you for not being afraid to tackle this topic. Much love 💞💞💞💞

    Coffee Chats , that sounds awesome. I think it’s important to bare your soul once in a while. You’ve inspired me to try that myself, ( although my husband would not really appreciate me airing my “ low down dirt “ ) he’s one of those guys that are very personal and private about stuff like that. If I try it , I may only do it once a month. But occasionally I am an emotional mess, I gotta admit, and my husband is not real good at dealing with it . Men are such idiots sometimes. He’s a great guy when he wants to be. He’s had some health issues, and we’re living with his mom right now. That on top of me , the only one working is so much pressure . I’m at the end of my ropes, the ends are frazzled.
    Whew , I can’t believe I got it all out.
    Thanks Marlena.

Ways to cope in the workplace for example when someone or a group is hard to get along with.. always worried about “measuring up” and comparing yourself to others. I just got out of an EXTREMELY emotionally and verbally abusive marriage. The trauma I'm still living in is just, it's impossible to explain to anyone. The sinking/falling feeling in the pit of my stomach if I even have to think about facing him is like a black hole that could swallow me and I feel like I could never get out of it. It is SO IMPORTANT for women, AND MEN, who have been abused by their partners to stick to together and share their fears. And their hopes. You can't do it with anyone else because it is just impossible for them to understand. I think that focusing some videos on this topic is going to be a very good thing for a lot of people.

Eyeshadow is what excites me most though, so I may have just been drawn to those and didn't notice anything else lol.
