I’m a beginner rider and picked up a ‘22 Monster+ as my first bike a few weeks ago. I couldn’t be happier with my choice. I have not felt intimidated by this bike - it is easy to handle the size and weight, and with the rider modes I have never been surprised by the power of the bike. I had my first learning experience in which I had to get on the brakes much harder than I would normally intend to. Instead of crapping my pants, I felt in control of the situation. This is such a confidence inspiring machine.
I think it's cool that they've moved away from the trellis. As the owner of an 1100 Evo, I will say that it was a beautiful feature. But, the fact that they were able to come up with a new chassis to save that much weight to offset the added weight of the electronics, emissions equipment, and Testastretta engine. To me, the trellis isn't what makes a Ducati, there's much more to them than that.
Nice review I own a Monster 1100m I’ve ridden motorcycles from age 6. I’m going to give you my two cents. If your planning on buying a motorcycle don’t start out with a new Ducati Monster. They are incredible bikes not to mention the looks you get on them but my recommendation would be to start out with a enduro or low 300 to 400 cc street bike for your first bike. Something like a Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki have incredible bikes for starters try to learn how to ride a motorcycle and buy used don’t but a 13,000 dollar bike if you’ve never ridden a bike before. That’s just crazy! Ducatis are different animals compared to inline 4 our a single cylinder bike. You can always buy a bigger bike when your experience has gotten to that level. To many people especially people in there 20’s buy 1000cc for a first bike, even the 600’s are extremely fast. Take riding classes to so you can learn to turn the bike and how to break it. Your not covered by a 2 ton car anymore when your on a bike and if you ever wreck or get hit by a car I can guarantee your going to wish you had practiced simple skills to react quicker in sudden situations. Just my two cents!

I actually saw this on the road, it was the black version, and at the time I didn't know it was a Ducati. I thought it was a Kawasaki or some other Japanese motorcycle, until I saw the word "ducati" written somewhere in the rear where the plate is supposed to go...and I thought..."huh...so that's a "Ducati". Not exactly impressive in black. I dunno. Not worth the extra $$. Might as well get a Kawasaki or a Honda naked bike. That's all it looks like on the road anyway.
Monterey may SEEM nice but trust me , its a shthole now. Use to be nice . Its mean now. Garbage IMO. Nice bike tho. I just bought a 22 M 950+ . Love it, but it sounds like a sewing machine, im not gonna lie. It has no throat . Best bike Ive ever had for the price and performance. It cant be beat .
Ducati has erased the original unique identity and the natural look of a classic super naked Monster. So disappointing. The previous version had urged me to own one in 2019. This new Monster is nothing different than its brother, the Streetfighter, they are both twin, skinny brothers now. The only difference is the swing arm. The Monster has twin swing arm while the elder brother has single swing arm. This latest Monster has lost its marcho, handsome and aggressive and fatty character. Previously, with the fat and muscular body look, with big fuel tank, air intake on its side and the body with frame. Now they're all gone. Ducati has made a mistake by removing it's character. The Monster, a super naked should maintain it's own identity. It's not a small skinny bike like the size of 125cc or 250cc bikes, it's a big bike, nearly 1000 cc. If I ride on a big cc bike, definitely want it to look muscular, marcho, big and fat just like the Hayabusa hihi. Manufacturers should follow the real super naked design from the Kawasaki, with a fat looking look, air intake flanking the fat fuel tank, a lowered transformer or a snake look front head and lamp, as they are meant for a short distance in town happy, fun and easy riding, not for speeding or racing. I thought of upgrading to the latest Monster version, but it looks that I will go for the latest S1000R or the Kawasaki Z1000 that offer a fat super naked looks with reasonable prices. Bye bye Monster.
@@CaliMotoTV I gotta check it out in person sometime. went to my Ducati dealer today and he said he won't have one in until September. with respect-its bloody awful, too much plastic, those pipes are just juvenile,, customising is going to be expensive and difficult,, so sad Ducati have gone mainstream.
Don't know why but the monster feels very boring to me. The way i see it is, the streetfighter is better looking, faster and if you use comfort modes it is perfectly ok to everyday ride. I see no reason the monster should exist in the current ducati lineup apart from the 2 cylinder, which could be easily solved by releasing a streetfighter v2 just like they did with the panigale.
@@CaliMotoTV yeah that’s true but I guess the v2 version could fix it at a certain degree. Also if a new rider gets a monster 1200 I think he won’t live very long after that.😂

@@CaliMotoTV LoL, have no idea why that had stuck in my mind, had to look it up and it seems it was a one time Woodstock kinda deal in 1967 :P
Milage?
About 35-40 or so? Depending how you ride.

10:35. The S for an extra G?
Hmmmm.. the S comes in a 1200cc package..extra G would be great but I don't see it
You keep mentioning “ beginner”?
It's truly a beginner bike, but of course an advanced ride will find joy in it too. Obviously this should not be your first bike, way too pretty to drop.
guess full Ohlins 'd b another 3 grand on an already pricey toy... but hey, it is a Duc 😉
It doesn't have to be Ohlins. Plenty of valid and way cheaper alternatives...
@@mauriziozanni4161 absolutely... but if I got it right, he did propose a factory s version with ohlins in that clip, since the fork is non adjustable that should be cartridges or full system plus rear shock and that comes 3 grand plus... well sky is the limit regarding ohlins... even the price... that would make the new monster unsellable 15 grand... seriously imho not worth the bucks just to have a red bike with ducati on the bikes tank. Well modern bikes r designed by accountants not enthusiasts... and in the end someone has to put the money on the table. :)
Seems they made it fit for a price and cut the suspension... not a good pull atleast 4 me.
@@ronr6605 LOL, and you really think that the OEM ohlins would cost Ducati 3 grands? OEM Ohlins is made in Thailand, and is waaaay cheaper that the aftermarket made in Sweden, FYI. If I were to buy that bike, Andreani fork cartridges ($500) and whatever shock at (600-800$, yes, Ohlins included). Cheers
@@mauriziozanni4161 lol... no dude, I just say ducati will make one pay 3 grand more ... since they r ducati. regarding to the price that the competitors ask for a better version as the basic one, duc will not ask less then 14.4 for that
Best review for the worst (aesthetic) monster ever.
But this is the best review, congrats.

퀵쉬프가 잘되는지요?
Non original POV: The old frame was beautiful. Monster lost it's identity, imo. Pass for me.
🤷♂️
Too much plastic cant see the engine and they blew it with the passenger pegs
I actually saw this on the road, it was the black version, and at the time I didn't know it was a Ducati. I thought it was a Kawasaki or some other Japanese motorcycle, until I saw the word "ducati" written somewhere in the rear where the plate is supposed to go...and I thought..."huh...so that's a "Ducati". Not exactly impressive in black. I dunno. Not worth the extra $$. Might as well get a Kawasaki or a Honda naked bike. That's all it looks like on the road anyway.
🤷♂️
Pro palestine gather.... couldnt be perfect this review
I feel bad for the Americans they get the normal indicators as apposed to the sick international side indicators
Nothing feels special about these bikes anymore. That's why I've moved on to MVs.
To each their own.
Looks like it had been designed by and Asian, may at least it is after all manufactured in Taiwan ( aka Da Chinese )_
Thanks for the information, however I don’t like it, does not look like Ducati monster 👿 looks cheap.
@@CaliMotoTV Looks can mostly be fixed after taste, ride enjoyment is key!
Monster = trellis frame !
😞
Monterey may SEEM nice but trust me , its a shthole now. Use to be nice . Its mean now. Garbage IMO.
Nice bike tho. I just bought a 22 M 950+ . Love it, but it sounds like a sewing machine, im not gonna lie. It has no throat . Best bike Ive ever had for the price and performance. It cant be beat .
A lot of cities are not as nice these days anymore lol
Thanks for watching
All ducatis have clunky gear changes during break-in time...
Bye bye Monster.
tl;dr
Compare this model with a 2006-2008 Monster S4R and try not to cry
no trellis I can live with, but man those plastic side coverings just isn't a good look to me, looks cheap on video 😬
@@CaliMotoTV I gotta check it out in person sometime. went to my Ducati dealer today and he said he won't have one in until September. I kid you not he had a total of four bikes in the showroom, other dealerships around here are dried up as well. no chance at seeing any new models they get bought up the very next day they arrive
this is not a monster
@@CaliMotoTV That's what R.E.M said...
Nope it's a red Z900 😂
with respect-its bloody awful, too much plastic, those pipes are just juvenile,, customising is going to be expensive and difficult,, so sad Ducati have gone mainstream.
Nope, it still looks cheap, it still look generic, it still looks Japanese. It doesn't look anything like a Italian designed Monster.
Also if a new rider gets a monster 1200 I think he won’t live very long after that.😂
You lost me at 111hp and 69lb ft.
