Love Dan, very likeable presenter. Love the other lads too, but it's nice to have the contrast of the different styles. Dan's a great addition to the channel, and now it's like he's always been here. Keep it up GetUpDan :-)
Really like these club comparisons with Dan the man.
LOL... That intro... These little tests are gems. True gems. I don't know how many other people are doing these kinds of deep dive compares in club choices... Never thought about a 7 wood, but hey... now I know why people might game them and I would consider testing it!!!
Great video. I went for a fitting at the Titleist fitting centre at Craigielaw, Scotland yesterday and had the same dilemma for my fitter Graeme. He solved it brilliantly; fitted for irons in a regular shaft, ball speed 110 mph across the range with peak height 80 feet. Fitted for a 23-degree hybrid, regular shaft, ball speed 115mph, peak height 78 feet. Next we tried a 21-degree hybrid - 117 mph not enough of a difference to maintain peak height which dropped. So Graeme fitted me into a 5 fairway wood with STIFF shaft to take speed OFF - resulted in ball speed 120mph, peak height 78 feet. So my carry between every club from 5 wood to 60-degree lob wedge is now between 10-12 yards. So, (theoretically at least), I can now hit and stop the ball on the first green at the Old Course across the Swilken Burn and stop the ball due to consistent carry and good (45 degree or so) angle of descent with every club from 190 yards out. And that is why going to a good fitter is so important in getting fitted for clubs - different club set up (head size and shaft stiffness) to make each club deliver exactly what is needed for gapping.
Do to father time passing I'm in that 20 degree hybrid for about 190 yards and a 15.5 degree fairway wood for the 205 yardage, but it's been working for about three years now. not sure about this year though, but they are both adjustable clubs and father time keep moving on. Good video post Dan, thanks.
I love this. I just bought a Honma TW737c 21° 7 wood and love it. Perfect for my 185 yd carry shots and love the high ball flight. Great video.
Surely the fact that your hitting such a consistent distance with the hybrid is a huge plus. You were 2 yards between longest and shortest.
Breath of fresh air is Dan. Very likable guy
Great comparison Dan! I tried some hybrids 6 years ago and struggled with them, I have a 9,7, 5, and 3 wood and find them easier to hit
Perfect timing this video, I did a fitting this week with exactly the same clubs I ended up choosing the hybrid purely because it was easier to hit being a shorter club although I lost 5-10 metres I kept it in the fairway more with the hybrid, this club will now fill the gap between my 3 Wood and 4 Iron. Cheers Dan.
Totally agree with you on the 5 wood Dan, while Marks rinky game is a great ad for hybrids, I prefer the 5 wood off the fairway or out of the rough for the 190-220 shots, just because of how the club sits behind the ball. To be honest though I was wondering if hoovering the fairway was part of the game improvement advice :)
So interesting this, having moved from a 19 degree hybrird to an 18.5 degree 5w.... great video. I gained a bit more control, and distance, even though I didn't expect both.
Dan does an outstanding job of analysis plus is very good at presenting the analysis in a logical and thoughtful manner, and keeps focused on the topic. More of these please.
Brilliant, just brilliant....you should do all the presenting on this channel Dan 👍
A clean shop is a happy shop Dan! Well done with the Henry work!
Great Review. I would like to see 5 iron vs 5hybrid both same degrees like this test
Great video Dan!! Always like to hear you talk !!! greets from Belgium
To be honest the control Dan has with Henry he will have that in his bag on the next course vlog! #Tinkerman 😂
Hybrid for me over fairway.
Well presented test. Short, concise and helpful. Your pre-test thoughts were accurate.
Great info Dan, just replaced my Taylormade 7 wood with a PXG 22 Hybrid. Results have been more control, but a 10 yard loss in yardage. Love this Tensei in the hybrid. Did buy a SZ Epic flash 5 wood that I lofted up to 19 degrees with a D setting hitting that about 225 yds. at the standard setting i was losing it to the right, has the Hzddus smoke S70. Keep up the great work guys. Aloha Rob
I used to have a 7 wood and loved it but I lost it on a bux party golf day so sad 😢 about it 10 years later, good video Dan the man 👍
They still sell 7 woods. Suffer no longer.
I swear you lads have something tapped to my brain. I’ve been debating changing my 19 degree hybrid for an 18 degree 5 wood.
I carry both but have lofted the 5w down to 17 degrees, they go very different distances. The hybrid is a consistent 195-200 yard club (up to 210 off the tee) whereas the 5w gives me an extra 10-15 yards (a little more off the tee). If I was changing my bag I would definitely consider a 7w as a hybrid replacement. I will never drop the 5w, it is fantastic for long par 3s (220 yards+) and short par 4s (anything up to about 350 yards leaves me a wedge into green)
Hi Jason,
I switched my 19 degree hybrid out (had a tendency to hook it) and tested both a 5 and 7 wood - ended up with the 7 wood as the most comparable distance but with a higher ball flight.
Good work Dan! My old King Cobra 7W has been my favorite club for many years. I recently purchased a couple of new hybrids and am so far loving them. If Cobra made a 17 degree one length Hybrid I'd insta' buy one just to try it.
Brilliant Dan! Keep him on the channel!
Love these 2 club comparison vids dan! Keep them coming
Good stuff. I'm a big fan of the 7w. The hybrid went to the closet.
Thanks for that insight Dan. As usual it comes down to getting fit and personal preference. Not sure I’ve ever tried a 7 wood but what you said made sense. Also, fantastic vacuuming form!! 👍🏻
An excellent lesson that really touches on the small but important adjustments that you need to make with these clubs. Thanks Dan.
Great info Dan .
Love the Ask Dan series!!!
Its all personal preference at the end of the day isn't it,I've always been a wood over hybrid kinda guy. But I don't have the money to pay for new equipment. I don't need to in order to enjoy my golf. The weather, course condition, wether I'm swinging well, and the company I'm in is the main factor for me enjoying my golf.
Great comparison Vlog Dan. Nice👌
oh danny boy the clubs the clubs are calling, from green to green, and down the drop off side :) x
Good job Danielsan...
Top video Dan. Very informative 👍🏻👏🏼
Really good Dan. Love how you discussed delivery and strike. Did my eyes read your numbers correctly? Was the 7 wood more accurate for you?
Great video Dan! Always love your vids. How about a look at graphite vs steel iron shafts?
Enjoy the speed, clarity and business like way that you do these reviews. 👍
Great video...definitely makes the 200 yd club an interesting choice...personally I game a 22 hybrid with a 19 5w
Good video Dan..
Would like to see then hands a bit higher with the vacuum, also posture is a bit too far bent over, could be worth you trying an upright vacuum even....but nice work and seem a solid cleaner
Yeah, he stepped on the tube. Equivalent to coming over the top, I'd say, and he kind of chicken-winged that last pull ...
I replaced my callaway big Bertha 21 degree hybrid with a callaway rogue 7 wood. I wish I would have made this switch a few years ago. The 7 wood is easier to hit, looks great sitting behind the ball. It launches higher, lands softer, and goes straighter. I now carry driver, 3 wood, 7 wood and 5 hybrid. I have been able to put another wedge in the bag for certain courses and take it out for other courses. So, with 7 wood I add or subtract different clubs to my bag as to where I play dictates.
Dan needs a 7 wood in the bag, offline deviation with the hybrid was massive in comparison
great comparison- hybrid for me though- on my course I need the lower trajactory of the tee
Brilliant Dan
Great analysis Dan - love the numbers - one thing missing though - would really like to know the numbers on the Henry Hoover - what's your optimum launch, push and pull angles and maximum length without losing suction - worth a testing vlog next time me thinks!
Love Dan!
Dan the man . Thumbs up 👍
Well done Dan! Lots of useful and functional information!
The carry consistency of the hybrid looked much better than the fairway. Personally I'd value that much more highly than the extra distance or spin.
STRIKE IS KING!!
Hi Dan, how about a test between a Mizuno CLK 3 hybrid (19 degrees) and a 19 degree 5 wood. Be interested in the stats. Bet they would be similar to this test video. One question; Which do you find easier to hit off the deck, in dry, hard conditions and wet, soft conditions?
Great vid. What are you thoughts about the versatility of both clubs I play a 21 hybrid and can hit it out of some relatively funky lies. Wood a 5-7 wood perform in those situations?? (Don’t always find the fairway 😂)
I love my M6 22 deg 4 hybrid. I easily get 200yds with nice ball flight out of it. For 2nd shot par 5s I pull out my M6 16 deg 3 wood and get 230yds + :-)
Hi Dan, what would be the outcome if you put the 7 wood shaft in the hybrid, taking the length variable out of the equation. This then would allow direct comparison of the head designs, especially concerning descent angles and which would hold greens better from 200 yard range.
One words consistency
If we look at the results with your hybrid all shot are 203-204
So you can say its yours 200y carry
With the 7 woods you have 203 to 212
A gap between make the green or not
I game the 7wood because I get lost trying to line up a hybrid. In my head it’s not a iron but it’s not a wood. Those things are just confusing to me.
Took my 5 wood out and now play 2 hybrids and a three wood. I just find it better with a hybrid from tight lies or the rough. Just more versatile which outweighs the distance I'm loosing.
The title of this video is misleading. But I always enjoy the videos.
There is and 8 yard gap between longest and shortest with the 7 wood and only 2 yards with the hybrid.
Dan the consummate housekeeper. Always policing debris off the course too. 3w, 20* hybrid & 23 rinky here.
Dispersion I find is better with hybrid.
Great content, I moved from hybrid to 7 wood callaway rogue works for me better flight onto the greens 🏌🏽
Love a 7 wood. Great vid Dan.
Lovely bit of* Danielson on a Thursday. #Thatsatreat #yesplease
I like playing with a 5 wood Dan have done for many a year but if it's being naughty I do have a 18 degree hybrid which sits on the subs bench and has come out to play now again ....🙄
Tried the 7wood. Just flew too high. Hybrid stayed in the bag.
Thanks dan great info im def going to add a 5 wood to my bag
3 hybrid. 200 to 215. Money.
I realize that this is an old video, but I would have also liked to see the results if you had put the 7 wood head on the hybrid shaft which (I think) would have really shown the differences in head design.🤔
V useful info. Dan is a great presenter.😌
isn't the hybrid more versatile...hitting out of rough...hitting rescue shots out of rough...etc. i am a mid handicapper but i play with ping eye 2s! there needs to be a good video on utility irons vs hybrids vs 7 wood. though i use eye2s...if i was to buy new clubs i prefer smaller heads. i don't particularly like hybrids or 7 woods or even utility irons...maybe i just need to upgrade to ping blueprints and play the 4 iron as is. that still leaves me with a tough choice from 24 degrees and down...
Dan, what was the dispersion like between the two clubs. I could play a 7 wood too but I have always thought dispersion could be a problem
Nice dan I’d like you to have tried to hit them on a similar attack angle maybe move ball in the stance by an inch see what it does
I missed the dispersion comparison. I'd think that's what would determine which club to go for in my case.
Good video would you carry a 5WOOD and a 7wood
The one thing you don’t pick up is accuracy, you were more accurate with the 7 wood ?
Pops does it again just an interesting solid performance review whoop whoop go dad
Good test Dan
Six or half a dozen
I'm trying out some Moonwood golf 21*&25* hybrid/fairway woods no more 7 wood!
7-woods rule!
Good stuff dan
#askdan just wondering what the decent angle was between the 2. Revs were pretty similar and peak height a few yards different. Angle coming into a green could make a difference as well.
7-wood for me. Tend to snap hook the hybrids 1 out of 5 shots.
I would have liked to have seen dispersion map. My hybrids are much tighter than my woods.
OK I see the offline column. Fading/slicing the hybrid?
Sorry Mark. I love #askdan more! lol
I will use my 3 iron until I die. I just don't like the look of hybrids.
Should've had Dan in drag playing queen with that hoovering!
Dan looks pretty good on cam.
#hendriksenarmy? Too early?
So Dan, you are flying under the banner of Mark Crossfield now? How did that happen?
Would be good to see a review of the one length utility as there isn’t any on RUclips. I to am struggling to work out what to do between my 3 wood and 4 iron. Currently have a 5 wood and 2 iron which I alternate between
Mark and Dan did a one length hybrid if that's what your looking for?
I have exactly the same, prefer 2 iron in the bag as I hit it well off the tee. But not so great off the deck....
Anthony Jones just editing a video now on the one length utility, coming soon 👍
Dan Hendriksen Golf thanks absolute legend
Garf-ZigZagGolf UK yeah I can’t hit mine off the deck either 😂. Boomer off the tee though, sometimes anyways. Depends how I’m getting on that day
I see Mark and Coach left their crumbs everywhere.
Did Dan talk like Mark before they met? He’s still a lovely boy though.
dan is a good lad , not a bullshitter like alot of the youtubers.
Great comparison.
BTW, the Japanese word "Tensei" is pronounced TEN-say, not ten-SAI. Don't blame me, you English-type people were at the top of the academic food chain in the 19th century, when the system for converting foreign alphabets to our own roman letters was decided upon.
Wouldn't you say the smash factor was the difference in the distance more than anything else 👍
So if you matched both at 140 sf or is it just because of the swing speed difference?
How can you be Dan Hendrickson and Mark Crossfield at the same
Geez Dan, watching you swing that 7 wood - have you been working out or something bruh?
Mark Crossfield replaced by Henry 😂
