When him, Tony, Sam, Bela, and Mark would play together at festivals and stuff, find me a stage blessed with more raw talent, not to mention they were adding to the legacy of the greatest art ever created in America!
One of my favorite instruments in country music. Always loved how it sounds. A lot of the country music from the late 80's and early 90's I grew up with features the lovely sound of the dobro. I believe Jerry actually played on many of those records.
If you can find it anywhere, give a listen to his album Changing Channels....not country dobro...more of a jazz feel...but you won't believe how good it sounds
Just Great. More or less 40 years ago, I had the chance to talk to this Master of Dobro, in Lisbon - Portugal. He's a very nice person, and plays great. Very good version of the "American Tune" played by Jerry on Dobro. Thanks.
He is from my little hometown in Ohio spoke to my sisters graduating class this year funny that there is hardly any articles about him in my hometown paper.. I guess no one appreciates good music.
probably after he's dead and gone years from now they'll probably Janis Joplin him in your hometown. if you don't get my drift feel free to reply and I can expunge

Most of you should recognize Mr. Jerry Douglas of the band Union Station , they play songs with Alison Krauss, all heavenly beautiful music, wonderful Mr. Douglas, smooth & perfect, makes so many emotions come from one's heart to hear you play so beautifully! Bravo!!
For many years Jerry was lightyears ahead of any players out there and it is only in the last decade that some players have come very close to playing with his ability. He will always remain the master in my book.
@@jedinaiit2345 Regal. Middle of the road at best, but good enough to learn on. Actually recorded a few tracks with it in the fills. Sounded OK. Would sound a lot better in Jerry's hands though lol!
I have a feeling that Chris Rea would sound so very awesome playing that instrument..... In my opinion, Chris Rea plays the slide guitar better than anyone. Ever. Love the sound. ♥️
Jerry Douglas is without a doubt the best living Dobro musician there is. Josh Graves was the greatest ever. Jerry has accredited Josh as his influence.
Lovely, exciting even. It's 2023, I'm reading Specimen Song by Peter Bowen where a Dobro was mentioned. So of course I looked on the internet! This instrument sounds better than my Martin........
Jerry would make an egg slicer sound great! Awesome! And everytime I hear him make the guitar sound like it sounds, I think: What!? Brilliance at work! To the down-voters: Just go home and listen to your Justin Bieber albums!
This dude might have awards but Curtis Loew used to only know dobro and used to play it 'cross his knee and he was still the best damn picker to ever play the blues
Exquisite playing and super dobro. Love that sound. Like just about everything I’ve heard from Jerry. He’s a marvel. What I don’t like is on me ... not him.
Lord, I love how the Dobro sounds. Makes me wish I could play it. Jerry Douglas is one of the best Dobro players around. Nobody plays it like him.
This man is more than just your bro, my bro, he is DOBRO.
Ehhhh

Oh my god, Jerry Douglas playing "American Tune". I am beyond beyond.
Paul Simon! via JS Bach. Thanks. I knew I had heard it, but it was so heavily ornamented I wasn't sure.
Hahaha, I was wondering if anyone recognized Paul Simon's tune.
Gorgeous music Jerry. Love the playing. Love the sound of slide guitar.
Dobros sound great. So clean.
The instrument itself is not inherently "clean" - Jerry is just the best to ever play one!
Man this is beautiful as well as inspiring, jerry is the reason I started playing dobro

The absolute best dobro player. Such feeling and never a wrong note.
Stringman1950 He is second to none
Jerry is humble and has an amazing repertoire. He seems to never forget a melody or harmony. What a true joy.
Jerry would be the first to tell you..wrong notes happen.. professionals know how to make them sound right to the listener
The most beautiful instrument ever played
I was first introduced to Jerry Douglas on United Breaks Guitars. I have been a fan ever since. Beautiful!
I’d never heard of Jerry until last night when he joined Derek Truck’s on stage and jammed at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Wow, huge fan now 👍❤️👏
Thank you John and Ed Dopyera for giving us an amazing instrument to hear!

What a talent and great guy!
Beautiful instrument.
The man is a master.
A very nice Beard Dobro too! Truly a master.
Jerry is one reason I own a dobro. Greg Booth is another. Can't play like they do, but it sure is fun to try!
What kind did you get?

Wow Jerry Douglas! Such an inspiration to a long time guitar player who would like to learn dobro.
I love the sound of this instrument the best.
And he looks so unaffected (as in affectation) - a really great guy (I met back in the early 2000's when his deity level was reaching his ultimate).

Love the sound. ♥️
Very nice. First time I've heard of a dobro. Enjoyable.

Incredible beautiful music...
Wow that Blackbeard and Jerry sound wonderfull!
Outstanding.
Jerry Douglas is without a doubt the best living Dobro musician there is. Josh Graves was the greatest ever. Jerry has accredited Josh as his influence.
According to Alison Krauss Jerry is the greatest ever, and of course she's totally unbiased ;). He produced her first record for Rounder.
What a gift!
Yeah, it had nothing to do with hours of dedication and practice. Ignore all that and just call it a gift from your imaginary friend.
