Politicians are literal subhuman scum.
It’s a crazy rule
Can I list my boat on Airbnb?
You know what….I don’t know. I would think so, but they probably have some weird stipulation on that too
@@TheBillOlson Thank you for the reply!
These ordinances drive prices way up, thus hindering travel to the area. These cities really don't like people making money I guess.
While some ordinances may have unintended consequences, cities often implement regulations to ensure safety and fairness, rather than simply trying to hinder people from making money.
Hey! Do you know if the have to be up to all current codes for Airbnb? We are looking to buy in North Charleston around park circle.
North Charleston is different. No current STR rules but last I heard they were working on some, but not nearly as strict as City of Charleston. I’m not sure about anything having to be “up to code”, but I would assume it just has to be livable and safe. We have so many historic properties that bringing them up to code would cost a fortune.
Here’s an article about North Charleston STR rules:

@@TheBillOlson Isn't category 2 North Charleston, how do the current regulations including this category 2 not have an effect if its in the listed categories as well? please reach back out to me, thanks
I can hear it now “FREEZE..this is the Charleston STR task force..everybody put down the white claws and place your hands in the air”
You win the internet today! “Put down the white claw!” 😂😂😂
when you say beaches... you mean on the beach? or can it be above battery island drive? above bowen island/pea island?
Wherever the beach town line is. By beaches I meant “beach TOWNS”. Sorry for not clarifying. Does that help?
Great video, thanks for the info! What is the best way to go about getting the a floor plan and site plan? We bought in 2021 and the previous owners used the area for an airbnb would those items be on file?
You would need to hire someone most likely to get your own copies. The plat might be filed if you search the ROD office website. The floor plan probably not.
I guessed residential category 4, i failed...
Hello do you know anything about rental arbitrage in Charleston sc if so can you give some tips
This is VERY hard in Charleston because a short term rental needs to be a primary residence in most areas and you can’t rent out the entire home. Also, finding a landlord that would agree to this I think would be tough.
So what about the mt. pleasant/ isle of palms area that isn't in the zone is there no restrictions for places over there?
Each town/city will have its own restrictions. Here’s a link for Mt Pleasant: www.tompsc.com/1154/Short-Term-Rentals
For the beaches, they all allow short term rentals except Sullivan’s Island. Each beach town will have its own process of how to register and get your STR permit.
@@TheBillOlson Thank you sir!
@@brennancl785 you’re welcome. Are you looking to purchase a STR in the area?
@@TheBillOlson I'm looking into doing rental arbitrage in the mt.pleasant/ isle of palms area with apartments but just read mt. pleasant has already given out their 400 str permits until jan 1 2023 so looking now for a lawyer to see if there's any way around that.
