greatest deathcore album of all time? if you were to ask me, I’d say yes instantly. I love the later contortionist work too - it’s calm and contemplative - but this album just… fucks. it fucks hard.

Gotta love exoplanet, it’s what got me into the contortionist. But come on guys let’s give Intrinsic some love. Such a unique trippy album. Very underrated.

Its probably one of my favorite albums of all time, but it seems hard to recommend with the production quality. People have always complained about the quality which is probably why its not as popular as their other albums. I wish it would get remastered but I'm not sure they have/own the masters. It was a real treat seeing many of those songs performed by Mike on the Language tour though.

Every year this is one of those albums I take an hour to listen too beginning to end for what a beautiful space metal opera it is. Its construction serves not only a musical role, but as essentially sound effects of a space ship making its transit through space, like the alarms, the thrusters and engines, and the overall spacey atmosphere. What a beautiful piece of art.
And yeah that ending half of Flourish really is something incredible.

Drew, you better get the fucking people in Patreon to recommend for poll for The Contortionist’s Clairvoyant (2017). You won’t regret it.
Edit: throw everything you just heard from Exoplanet out the window and Language musically. It’s a journey and conceptually emotional.

If you don't mind annoying requests (I'm sure you get tons). Neural Union from the band Aegaeon is my all time Deathcore Prog song. A lot of people whine about the 'one-dimensional' vocals (mostly only growls) but that belongs to the band basically, it's a feature not a defect. Has like one reaction overall and I don't understand why. Big atmospheric vibes
