Have you ever wondered how much it would cost to get into the adventure touring game? Here are some of the most affordable options in the class that you can buy today. Which of these is your favorite?
I think it is exciting to see so much choice in this segment. I sold my 2018 Africa Twin to buy something smaller. I bought the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan. I am much happier off road. Parts and service have been a challenge here in Canada, but I’ve become more capable doing my own service and sourcing parts.
@sleevey I have the RE Himalayan and LOVE it. Perfect size, eazy to ride, easy to work on if needed. So far, no problems. I also have a BMW F850 which i love as well, but there's something about the Himalayan. Awesome bike for off/on road. It's a tractor and will go up anything.
I agree with Mark Hudson my Suzuki DR650se has 20,000 miles and it’s been all over the mountains of Montana . Goes all day on the Highway at 75mph and handles super hard rocky muddy single track just fine .
I prefer my DR650 over any of these units. It's ultra reliable, very capable on or off pavement, and looks better than any of these. I took it out the door brand new for $6,200 total price and have ridden it all over the United States with no issues. Just got back from Colorado.
@@ontarioman6301 Nobody has perfected fuel injection on a big single or twin that doesn't have some huck a buck at very small throttle openings. My RC51 and Aprilia Shiver suffer somewhat from it. Fuel injection is either on or off at these small openings while a sloppy old carb blends on and off seamlessly. I have taken my DR over several 12,000' passes with no problems at all. Out in the middle of nowhere there is very little that can go wrong that cannot be dealt with, unlike fuel injection
My favourite of the bunch is the Versys-x 300. 40 hp (32 rear wheel) is adequate to go anywhere and at under 386 lbs wet, great for the gravel roads and trails in my area. The CB500X is a bit heavy at 439lbs. Only has 8 more hp. Anything under 35 hp is just frustrating when riding on the highway to get to the trails or on any kind of adventure.
I’m just starting to watch this and hoping my bike makes the list ! It was only $5000 brand new and I’ve ridden it all over the world , very reliable and so comfortable .
I got a Latin America exclusive Honda XRE 300, versatile bike can do close to 140km/h and some offroad plus little maintenance so perfect for commuting
Brenda: What can you tell me about a seven foot lunatic hacking away with a broadsword at one o'clock in the morning, New York City, 1985? Connor MacLeod: ...Not much.
I've owned the Kawasaki Versys 650 and of all these bikes shown here would be the top of the list. The 650 versys is an awesome bike with more than enough power for just about anything you need it for. My only complaint was seat comfort, other than that it's a perfect bike. But keep an eye out in 2023 for American Lifan products, they may surprise you!
@@automotiveterritory Not yet, I´ve lost my licence. I was simply looking for small bike with large tank, so I could travel into unknow places not worring about fuel stations all the time. This has the best fuel capacity to fuel comsumption I´ve found. And the bike is actually cheap.
Versys X 300 power is around 40hp or 30kw@ 11500rpm, 32hp is at the rear wheel I ride A Cb500x and also have a Versys X 300. Would like those bike had more chunkier tire from the factory. That is the first change i have done on these bikes , change the tyres!
@@HooDRidEWhiteY I asume you want to know witch one of this top 10, as I already own 2 of them? I would like to add a CRF300L Rally in my collection for harder trailer, for the long travel suspension and higher frame clearance. But if you are riding only on road and gravel trail or forest road and easy trail , a twin cylinder as my CB or Versys is the way to go. And with a higher budget i choose , without hesitation , the Tenere 700!
@@HooDRidEWhiteY The Cb500x, for the extra hp and torque, the adjustable front fork. But cost 2k more than the Kawa here in Canada Thé 2022 model with the new suspension seems even better!
How is the klr650 not on this list? they are basically the archetype of the cheap adventurer. I ended up going with the CB500x, since mpg was my main concern, but it was more expensive and only available in used models. The KLR is still a beast, when it comes to all purpose.
Its so unfair the v strom 250 isn't available in the US i would love to have it, matter of fact there's many sold in other Countries that aren't sold here that would do great.
So I've like talked myself 95% of the way to buying a new bike this year. Fuck it. I dunno if I want an ADV like one of these, a midsize cruiser/bagger or an electric model. The Sonders Metacycle haunts my dreams. But so does the Royal Enfield Himalayan. And the new H/D Sportster S...I dunno. That Moto Guzzi California....
Lol. We are twins. I just sold my '92 softtail, and want to trade my paid off 2018 SR400 in on a better 2nd bike. Primary is a yamaha Bolt (great bike). Wish me luck. Too many options.
This video is full of misinformation. The Kawasaki Versys 650 is NOT an ADV bike and the Royal Enfield Himalaya is NOT rated for 45 horsepower, it is rated 24.5 horsepower. You get my down vote.
I am 60 now and want a smaller off road capable machine that is cheap to maintain. It's a RE Himalayan for me, and I think it looks great. Although the Kawasaki 650 looks beautiful.
Ride smaller bike on round the world trip. No need to go fast as you'll miss those fabulous scenery. If 80 kg rider, you can also ride a modern moped. It is fast enough to get a speeding ticket. Have conquered the highest highway in the world and have made around the world trip. Go Japanese for superior fuel economy, cheaper parts and reliability. My 5.5 YO Japanese bike have not had a valve adjustments as the power is still there ! But I only use high quality lubricant.
CSC MOTORCYCLES IN AZUSA,CA Has the Zongshen 450 adventure bike the RX4 $4995 Loaded, not Naked. And the Zongshen 250 or the RX3 Loaded $4195. Both should have been on this list
