Is there any research or testing available that proves the theory behind the design of this intercooler? Sounds and looks like the angled design would improve efficiency but by how much, including tuning potential vs OEM IC? Thanks!
Both are going to have pro's and cons. A FMIC will always cool the charge better just due to its placement and area to fit a large core, but with the downsides of more weight, and much, much longer charge pipes. A TMIC does have it's limitations, but you wont see that unless you are in excess of 400+ WHP, and if you are not, a TMIC would technically be more efficient. Let us know if you have any questions. Thanks, Rick
+Moe Ahdal There may be some that will work with this intercooler, but most standard bars would not fit due to the design of the intercooler. Thanks, Rick
+Nabil P It's the pipe/tube that connects the outlet of the compressor side of the turbo to the intercooler. It's basically what carries the compressed air that the Turbo spits out into the intercooler. The stock one is made of plastic and can be prone to leaks/warping/cracking/discoloration more so than one made of metal/steel/aluminum. It also doesn't expand with pressure.
+Nabil P The Charge pipe itself would not net you more power or anything so tuning it would not be necessary. It's more of a reliability/supporting piece. It allows compressed air to move more efficiently to the intercooler.
It's an option and the thermal affects of painting the intercooler is highly debated, but it seems the general consensus is it does not make a difference. Thanks, Rick
I actually did some research on it. A black intercooler will actually perform better than not when the car is stopped. But at speeds, I the black intercooler will cool air by 2.5% less than a non-painted intercooler. All things considered, it is possible that a black intercooler might be a bit better since the car will have better performance from a stop and go perspective. Fun stuff! You guys should make a test or something cool like that and put it on RUclips!

+Mactastic Yes there is a lot. Google it bro...
is this just as efficient as a front mount?
darn near the same price.

Which top mount intercooler is the biggest?
Parts look more expose will it be safe to drive in the rain?
+CEPHALEXIN323 Yes, there is no danger with driving in the rain. :)
Thanks,
Rick
will this work with the perrin strut brace?
Do I need a tune?
Can you use aftermarket bypass valves with this intercooler? I heard you cant.
You are limited on space, but a turbosmart kompact valve should work without issue.
Thanks,
Rick
will a front strut bar still fit with the intercooler?
+Moe Ahdal There may be some that will work with this intercooler, but most standard bars would not fit due to the design of the intercooler.
Thanks,
Rick
+RallySport Direct Have you tested any strut bar that will work with this intercooler? I'm planning to get this and strut bar.
+TRF_Clan The SPT front strut bar works with the verticooler...I have both :)
Do you know if the AEM strut bar will fit?
I have the Tanabe strut bar installed, fits perfectly with like 1/2 an inch between the intercooler
Sorry noob question! What does a charge pipe actually do?
+Nabil P It's the pipe/tube that connects the outlet of the compressor side of the turbo to the intercooler. It's basically what carries the compressed air that the Turbo spits out into the intercooler. The stock one is made of plastic and can be prone to leaks/warping/cracking/discoloration more so than one made of metal/steel/aluminum. It also doesn't expand with pressure.
with installing the charge pipe would it require a tune or stock tune fine?
+Nabil P The Charge pipe itself would not net you more power or anything so tuning it would not be necessary. It's more of a reliability/supporting piece. It allows compressed air to move more efficiently to the intercooler.
+Steel Yang thanks for the help man will have to get one once I get a new wrx
+Nabil P It doesn't require tune but you won't gain more power if you don't tune it
need to tune after installation or no need?
A tune would be recommended but not required.
Thanks,
Rick
RallySport Direct does it matter what tune I use from the flash tuner
Will the Intercooler be compatible for CVT models?
It comes with a different bracket to mount to CVT models. At least mine did.
Does this intercooler work with the mishi chargepipe?
+Jeff nakhaie I'm not sure on that to be honest. I would imagine it would be we would not be able to guarantee it.
Thanks,
Rick
Will my boomba bpv work with this
Yes
Yes worked with mine berticooler with cobb intake grimspeed 3 port boost solenoid and boomba bpv
Why did they paint the intercooler? Adding a layer of paint reduces the effectiveness of the intercooler.....
It's an option and the thermal affects of painting the intercooler is highly debated, but it seems the general consensus is it does not make a difference.

will this work with the AEM charge pipe? i like the bov relocation the the AEM charge pipe...
I am not sure on that to be honest, I would assume it would work, but I am not positive.
Thanks,
Rick
I just wanted to type Thanks
Thanks
Thank you!
Rick

does the grimmspeed BPV fit on this?
Any front strut bar will fit with verticooler?
The Perrin bar is perfect for this setup, offers plenty of clearance and looks awesome as well :)
Thanks,
Rick
@@rallysportdirect awesome! Thanks
I have the Tanabe Sustec strutbar and that one fits. No rubbing or clearance issues at all.
