Man I have the grimmspeed tmic unit and this Cobb's core looks much larger. It's probably going to be the new go-to setup for upgrading the tmic for another tmic because it looks like this kit cheaper's than buying grimmspeed's. It'll prob make a lil extra power too. Considering the upgrade myself down the line if it can break 400whp. Edit: looks like it’s confirmed this Cobb tmic is the best tmic on the market now for the VA wrx’s. I personally went with the new AMS fmic kit and I absolutely love it. Power was pretty much the same on my retune for the new fmic (actually I made a lil less surprisingly… but the consistency of the power is night and day difference and holds up on repeated pulls/abuse compared to my old grimmspeed unit)
Question, the power steering relocation brackets. Are they necessary on a 2020 model? It seems that the module is out of the way. Just wanting to make sure I don’t miss a critical step here. Thanks!
Ok Rick, great install video. Couple notes, you didn’t show the large 17mm to 18mm bolt that’s need to be installed under the intercooler when in place to secure the tmic. Also you used the incorrect coupler for the intercooler to charge pipe. Note: this will fit a 2019 + wrx, you will need to do some drilling to make the Cobb hood scoop vent fit, But it can be done. Take ur time with this one, can be very frustrating.
@conner191 2019 wrx, yea that bolt under the tmic was a real pain. Just keep working it, was not an easy install for me either. I found putting the top mount on before the charge pipe was a little easier to get everything lined up properly.
Don't even own a FA but just love watching your installs
Thank you!! :)
Rick

Awesome Rick, thanks again for the beautiful install 😀
You bet and thank you! :)
Rick
Clean install bro! Where does one acquire that yellow hand held power tool??
engine bay still soo clean
I'm about to do this install on my '21. Any idea if I'll have enough room for my (Nameless) strut tower brace?
Thanks this is going to be a big help I just ordered this from Subimods 🤘🏻

No. 2018-2021 does not need the relocation bracket for the AOS, but you're on the wrong install video buddy lol.
@@ryan_from_tmg the Cobb TMIC and charge pipe came with the relocation brackets. I wasn’t referencing the AOS install. Thanks though buddy.
@@ianmacisaac793 Just seeing this😂 You’re a 100% correct!

It’s a pain in the a** to install. Took me 3hours to get the fitment correct. Stay patient
I bought the older kit, no modifications were made. Only had to drill some additional holes for the hood vent.
What are you having issues with ?

@conner191 absolutely a big difference after it was tune for it. I used the charge pipe coupler for the charge pipe to top mount
how do you install that under the tmic bolt that your talking about, I haven't seen any videos of anyone installing that bolt.
I had to use a stripper wrench on the stock mount to get the thing off. Why the hell those are bolted in sooooo tight is stupid.
Does this require a tune or can I run a ots stage 2+?
No, you can run this without a tune, and your Stage 2+ map will work just fine :)
Thanks!
Rick
@@rallysportdirect thanks great video! I had the same question.
Always protune. It's honestly the best way to go to make sure you're good and your car doesn't get thrown into limp home mode on you.
My tuner can change the map and send it back to me through email since in only changing the intercooler. No need to throw it on the Dyno for this.
@@BlackWat3rGTR got protuned with that intercooler and flex fuel last year and been amazing ever since but thank you tho!
It kinda sucks you can't use the OEM charge pipe. Makes the install 10X more of a pain in the ass
Absolute pain in the ass to install, this is something I would pay someone to do had I have to do it all over again. Pretty helpful video though!
Took me 12 hours to do and thats not including the shroud..man I regret not paying someone for this as well
Does this TMIC work with the perrin chargpepipe?
it *should * however I have not personally confirmed that, so use your best judgement there.
Thanks,
Rick
I replied above as well, but if you’re willing to cut your Perrin charge pipe, like I did, it will fit.
This kit comes with it's own charge pipe and it fits nicer than the Perrin one does. Sell the Perrin one.
Why aren’t they carb legal ! I can’t get it shipped to CA
Easy fix, leave CA.
Is this will fit with perrin strut tower brace?
It’s ridiculously tight, and you have to shove the strut brace behind the intercooler but I got it to work.
Anyone know if this works with the grimmspeed or Perrin charge pipe?
The install process looks complicated. The Grimmspeed install looks much easier. Not taking anything away from Cobb.
Brought to you buy SNAP ON tools lol.
Don’t let Ricky fool u… this install sucks esp if u don’t have a lift
Do I need a tune for an aftermarket intercooler for the 15+ WRX ?
Is the cobb charge pipe compatible with a turbosmart dual port bov?
