  • Ounce for ounce these babies are just as fierce as velociraptors. My two Quaker parrots, Java and Kerbey, pouncing, bouncing, and biting for two straight minutes. This is all they do all the time

    Those birbs are so cute. Like the video if you think Daniel should train them to make the JP velociraptor call.

      Well, they're pretty vocal, and if I remember right, it is possible to train them to speak or repeat sounds.

    Makes me miss my birds. I had a Hahn's Macaw and a Cockatiel. They're so interesting and fun to interact with. Even when they're being shit heads it's fascinating how they know how to push your buttons.

    I haven't worked with quakers very much, (though I have worked with cockatiels, conures, and cockatoos) and the constant chirping caught my somewhat off guard. Most of the birds I've worked with have either sang, whistled, whispered, or screamed. Is this common among quakers, or is this a learned behavior?

      I bring their whole cage outside on cleaning day and let them stay out for a few hours - but they have a UVB lamp over their enclosure all the time, which provides many of the same benefits

    are biting cause they scared or are they grooming? hard to tell how hard they are doing that. are they calmer if seperated?

    • @ARPat2000
      @ARPat2000 6 лет назад

      those are not aggressive bites at all nor are they bothered, birbs just like to bite stuff especially when they are young so an owner needs to put in work to discourage that habit into non-existence. Also i think quakers are colony birbs so they dont live solitary lives in the wild but with a flock so with them and other such birbs keeping a partner at least is a very good thing and its bad for them to be by themselves

      A parrot's beak is the equivalent of our hands - it's their primary tool for grabbing and exploring

    • @AfroHerpkeeper
      @AfroHerpkeeper  5 лет назад

      They explore with their beaks - they're checking out the texture and figuring out if it's good to eat

      What kind of animal were you thinking of getting? I would recommend a hognose snake if you want a snake or a crested gecko if you want a lizar.

    • @walkerfloyd7145
      @walkerfloyd7145 6 лет назад

      Greg’s Herps really mostly into lizards. I’ve been thinking about either a crested, day gecko, or something of the sort, but I doesn’t know what would be best.

    • @walkerfloyd7145
      @walkerfloyd7145 6 лет назад

      Pikachu thanks. I was thinking about getting a crested but I really didn’t know if that was the best lizard to have if I needed a whole new diet (repashy or Pangea) to keep them.

      those lil nibbles are just play they dont hurt but real bites will cause damage, the talons do tear up your skin tho even tho they dont hurt nor do the birbs try to hurt u with them

      With my Quaker, those nibbles were "I want to put a hole here, and I'm going to keep nibbling until there is..."
