    Modifications Episode 1

    Part 1
Wanted to order the Hepco n Becker rear rackings for side panniers, but the waiting time is abit too long. Decided to take them off the Vstrom 1000 and installing them on the Vstrom 650 XT which I just bought. The Vstrom 1000 has been relieved of touring duties and has no more use for the side rackings.
Read online that it will not be a perfect fit and modifications are required. Asked around for custom shops and was introduced to Zuhal Fast Engineering by my mates in the STOG group, the SG Teneres Owners Group. Made an appointment with them and proceeded to the workshop 2 days ago. Rode down the Vstrom 1000 first to remove the rackings and went back evening time with the 650 wee strom for actual work to be done. Shop was abit busy, with Harleys in the shop doing major custom jobs, but the super friendly boss made time to finish the job for me with some overtime. Kudos to him and his hardworking apprentice. Job completed by 10pm, total time taken including dismantling of the racking from the 1000 was about 4 hours. Very reasonable rates was charged. Now is time to do some DIY spray job to complete the work.
Now, I can finally go shopping on my Wee Strom.

2 big parcel of parts arrived today! Cant wait to get them installed. Dump everything in my 2 side panniers and rode down to the Suzuki dealer where I bought my bike to fix up the parts.
Installing the stainless steel crashbar full set, rear plastic wheel hugger and the handle bar riser today. Half an hour later, they pushed my bike onto the bike hoist and started work on my wee Strom.
Satisfied with what I bought especially the stainless steel crash bar set and the bar riser. Going to wrap up the crash bars set tonight, cant wait to see how they will turn out.

    Installing the following parts today.
Big foot for the side stand
    Main stand
    Head lamp protector
    Radiator guard
    Parrot bar
Next week will be sending my bike for wrapping in a different color. At the moment, I think I do not need any more add on parts. Will go for a road trip and will have a better idea what I might need.
Fork internals upgrade, rear shock, exhaust, k&n air filter, stainless steel brake lines, brake pads, steering damper are some of the parts I might need this year, but I will go for some trips first and decide which are more important.

DL650's are definitely one of the greatest motorcycles ever made. Your yellow with gold wheels looks excellent. Just returned from a 1000 mile trip fully loaded with my lady friend . Had plenty of passing power up long steep grades and handled the twisties with aplomb. My bike is a black and blue'22 DL650 XT Adventure. Not full of tech that I don't want or need. Love 'em. Ride safe my friend.

Never liked side boxes coz they're bulky and heavy, so I use removable soft panniers with an expandable SHAD 59X top box for lockable storage.
Another accessory you'll need is an emergency toolkit with a puncture kit and mini air pump. Absolutely essential.

      Thanks for your valuable advice.
The boxes are from my old bike the vstrom 1000, so use it until it breaks . No more hard cases in future. 🤣
I do have a mini air pump. Just need a tyre puncture repair kit. 👍👍😁
