    Huh. As an I--P, I can't say I relate very much to the "see people as only either good or bad" statement. It's funny, cause one of my siblings and one of my parents are I--J's and they are exactly like that. They will rant about how horrible people are. If you don't behave a specific way in a specific context, the I--J's will think you are the devil. Literally. I feel like I'm more chill. I mean, yeah, some people really piss me off but I always try to see the reason behind their behavior and explain my theories to my I--J family. And they look at me and say: No, they are evil. Just evil. Or stupid.

    • @greggfiller1
      @greggfiller1 5 лет назад +35

      Bernhardina Hörnstein Within this particular system (which isn’t the same as traditional MBTI), you might be classified as some sort of IxxJ or Exxp, vs. IxxP, at least judging from what you’ve written here. Obviously this is too little to go on, but what you’ve written here focuses on going back and forth between your perspective and the other person’s perspective in a reasonably balanced way. You’re not strongly oblivious to how people’s emotions and identities might be impacted- you can see their point of view even if you find it offensive or stupid. This skill then indicates (from this system’s approach) that your middle two functions are Decider/Judging functions. If that is indeed so, then your first and last functions are going to be Observer/Perceiving functions, thus Single Observer/IxxJ/ExxP.

    • @--._7953
      @--._7953 5 лет назад +20

      Yeah, I feel the same way as an INTP with an INTJ father. And it's really hard to get him to budge.

    • @KajsaBernhardina
      @KajsaBernhardina 5 лет назад +31

      I sort of see it the other way around. If my observer/perceiving functions are my middle two functions, that means I am balanced in seeing what the reality is/exploring what it could be.
      I'm thinking that would make me less narrow-minded and more prone to say "based on what this person did when he X, he might be going through Y", you know, speculating on why people behave in certain ways.
      While the I--J perhaps would be more prone to say "No, I see what's going on, he did X because he's an idiot who wants to hurt people".
      From my personal experience, I--J's generally have the highest expectations on other people, deciding how others should act in order to be "good" (especially the IN-J's).
      Of course if people don't meet my expectations, I will think of them as stupid, but we all do that to some degree. However, the I--J's are good at their judging/decider functions, so they are great at understanding what is good and bad to others, which should raise their expectations even more, because you have to adapt to all people, not just them. Does that make sense?
      But I agree with lots of other things in the video. If I get hurt, I take it a lot more personally than my I--J family, I have social anxiety, I hate drama, if someone hurt me I will curl into a ball and cry, I don't fend for myself.
      (I'm a feeler, I bet you already noticed ^^)

      @@--._7953 My father is an ISFP and he is more like me in this regard. He never gives a damn about how other people behave - my INFJ mother however, she can't shut up about how evil some people are xD

    • @greggfiller1
      @greggfiller1 5 лет назад +24

      Bernhardina Yes, you describe well what a balance between S. and N as the middle two functions (Double Decider in Dave and Shan’s system) would be.
      Part of the issue is that their system - “objective personality system”- is built on very crisply defined and exclusive terms/concepts, and looks to a great degree specifically at how people use their “language.” In their system, F centers specifically around Value and Value terms (“great!” “sucks!” “ helpful” “problematic” etc. for example) T around Reasons (“because . . “.) S around Facts/specific things. N around patterns/concepts/abstractions. All languaging is viewed through this lens as a starting point.
      You are certainly right that if you have good S and N balance it can give you the ability to look at interpersonal relationships. But in this system, this isn’t what they’re looking at.
      (As an example of what they’re looking at, notice in your response to me here- you are giving reason after reason after reason in your languaging. This is an emphasis on T in their system. Also, notice the abundance of concepts and patterns you’ve used in your languaging. This would be an emphasis or orienting around N)
      So, regarding Single Observer ( = Double Decider) or Single Decider ( = Double Observer) notice here in your response to me here, again, your ability to go back and forth between your point of view and another’s. But also notice in what you’ve written here, the relative imbalance of S facts/specific examples/very specific things you mention vs. the number of N concepts, generalizations, patterns. A great deal of N concepts and patterns and barely any S facts, specific examples. In their system, this would indicate a heightened imbalance between the 2 Observer functions, which could suggest a personality that is Single Observer. (Again, this is way, way too little info to make an assessment, and you need at least two outside observers to confirm you have an accurate assessment.)
      So part of making their assessment looks not so much at the content of what you are saying, or point you are trying to make or even the examples you are giving, but rather at what T,F,S,N is contained in the underlying semantic structure of what is said, and then the relative balance of these 4 functions. It’s a somewhat different approach than standard MBTI, and can therefore be unclear if you are trying to apply the standard MBTI approach.
      This is not to negate any insights, understandings, or observations you mention about yourself here! They are valid, too.

    This one has always been tough for me. During the best times of my life, I have LOVED making the story be about people, listening to people's stories about other people, etc. Picking sides, going into the whole drama thing, having fun with it. But, I recognized later on that it felt like a lie, and that when I agreed that X was a bad person yet still corresponded with them, I was lying to Y, those who actually believed and needed it. So, I'd get rid of X from my life. It began to feel bad to not actually believe it, like I wasn't good enough for Y, my friends who needed it to be real. And then, I would question whether lying to Y for the sake of supporting them was as good as actually believing it with them. I kicked my own ass to hell and back about it. What has been legitimately hard has been remembering that Y has to do the work to support your needs, too. If you don't care all that much, Y has to support and lie to you, too.

    So I think then that to a single decider, it's difficult to make decisions which are balanced between what they want or what works for them AND what works for the tribe or what the tribe wants. To double deciders though, it's easier for them to arrive at decisions where there's a balance between their needs/wants and those of the tribe.

    And I slowly growing up my interest.
    I also saw my parents as an annoyance because they also giving me bad times and stressful times, but they're not so bad all the times, both my parents have good side and bad side. Like there's something they should be blamed on but not all of them was their fault. They actually teach me so many good things.

      Nina Schneidermann Not necessarily. A Single Observer will themselves be fascinated by issues of control and chaos and freedom in light of some form of “information” (in the broadest sense of the term) that’s being hidden or utilized in a presumably nefarious, controlled or uncontrolled way. So in the examples you give, you would need to suss out whether it is primarily focused around self-identity vs. tribe issues, interpersonal-relating proper (Single Decider) OR the control or chaotic handling of information, esp. conspiracies (Single Observers). It can get confusing because we can get upset with people (seems like it’s Single Decider and interpersonal!) about issues surrounding information (actually it’s Single Observer).

    Hey there! FJ got me hooked on your channel:) I like your videos because you tell it like it is...lol. Not a lot of people can handle that, but I do appreciate it.
    I have a question for you, Is it possible to be MBTI typed from high school and then later get tested in, we'll say Erik Thor's' test and get a slightly different result?
    Can we evolve from our root type and be another type? Or is it that we just have a better balance with our demon functions with our original type?
    I am an INFJ and I took Erik Thor's test and was typed INTJ. I have a theory, but I would like to hear your opinion as well:) Thank You!

    "The power of a story | Giles Duley | TEDxExeter" is a great example about how people are in the story for single observers. He talks about finding meaning in his live and even himself is not the focal point of his talk. He lost both his leg and his left arm when he stood in a bomb in Afganistan. My guess is that he's and ENTP (like myself LOL)

    A great example of this was a friend sent a video clip of some megachurch preacher looking and speaking in kind of a creepy way. My observer friend was like look at him it's because he's not actually human and me as a decider was like no he's probably a sociopath lol classic example, we're both dumb in our own special little ways... how fun.

    I don't think "single decider" is a term that I would use. A more precise term would be single carer.
    You either care about yourself, which is mostly Ixxp, or care about everybody except yourself.
    Double carer or "double decider" can care about themselves and others at the same time.

    The decider "drug", keeping them stuck,,, of you vs me,,, of the world being against you,,, basically PEOPLE who are keeping you stuck. this has been my story..... when in reality it's been something that keeps coming back to me, a picture of like... a door to a place you're trying to get through,, and there's a security guard at the door. this could be a problem, but the security guard is ASLEEP at the door. you COULD fucking walk thru. the DOOR. IS. OPEN!!!!! but the decider (ME bruh) is fuckignw waving her arms around, freaking out over the security guard at the fucking door.
    I'M JUST WALKING THRU BITCH, NO ONE CAN ... yea no one IS stopping me. sheesh. what an ILLUSION!!! MIND GAEMS

    Wow you lost my respect on this one... I ’ve never seen that video of Katie Morton and that other guy. You must have had to dig deep. All the Katie Morton videos I’ve seen (and she has hundreds) are well thought out and not dramatized as the example you chose. The other guy must have edited and enhanced with the eerie music and mask image.
    She’s legit and works hard at providing information about mental health- from valid sources and explaining in layman’s terms. She also encourages a positive and respectful forum for feedback.
    Are you envious of her or something?

      People can be good and bad at the same time. We're not 100% one or the other. I mean even Hitler was a vegetarian who loved dogs, yet he was leader of one of the most evil regimes in modern history.
      So calling out Kati Morton for participating in Shane's over-dramatised series about Jake Paul is not the same thing as saying that Kati Morton's content is all bad.

    • @swanben11

    • @Terrazona929

      Yeah... I stand by my previous comment. Maybe they didn’t dig deep but It’s pretty sad that kind of video got so many views. I’m not interested in that kind of sensationalism. The majority (99.999%) of Katie Morton’s body of work is legit and done with respect and concern for others mental health.
      Also I didn’t accuse, I posed a question if they were envious of her. Their cynical and sarcastic style has been entertaining but this apparently this is the downside and I’m going to call them on it. It’s not cool.

    Ok this has a place though. I mean come on you can totally dodge some bullets by being a single decider. Being a mature decider though you can start to see somewhat of a fluctuation of good and bad characteristics and behaviors in others and be a little more flexible in understanding without writing people off as sociopaths because they seem vapid or pretentious or uncaring of others or manipulative

  • @sarahmunson1778
    @sarahmunson1778 4 года назад +3

    I'm so confused....the video about sociopaths was completely accurate, that's what sociopaths are. How is that a single decider issue? This kinda comes off like you just don't like people making strong statements.

    • @twerkingllamaboi5572
      @twerkingllamaboi5572 3 года назад +4

      They are dehumanizing sociopaths. Sociopaths are humans too but those people treating them like they are some kind of monsters. This is equivalent to calling a person undergoing depression "lazy". The "strong statement" is actually bias. Especially if you are a professional therapist, you are there to help people. You shouldn't label anyone with mental illness as a bad guy.

  • @9SMTM6
    @9SMTM6 5 лет назад +1

    A lot of the bulletpoints are very specific to one of the two groups, and it would be really helpful if you would divide them between the groups (not just in words as you do, but also in the visual representation).
    Just to give an example, I'm LII (or INTP), and I don't EVER villanize people.
    Overall a LARGE portion of the bulletpoints doesn't apply to me at all.
    I have social anxiety, I'll at a few occasions create a big drama (though mostly I'm just... There, and the drama will only surface with deeper personal connections), I might have some sociopathic tendencies, but from the narcissistic barely anything applies to me.
    Asshole is also stretching it, me against the world has some elements of truth, as well as fear of being a fan boy (though it's not really a fear as rather an effort to not be that that's fueled by logic instead of fear)
    So even including points that are stretching it I'm only fitting 6/12 arguments you give, while some of the others don't apply at all.
    If I were Te dominant, I might conclude from that I can't be a single decider.
    In conclusion, maybe I didn't type myself right or my type is a special case among the IXXP, but even just going by your arguments it seems that your listed behavior patterns are at the very least often somewhat specific, and as such you should separate them to avoid people watching this drawing the wrong conclusions. And then you should think if you should really include the points at all, if they're evidently not really what makes out single deciders. Honestly seems to me like you didn't really do your work for that video and just went with your subjective experience, which is mostly EXXJ based.
