- While up at the S&S Worldwide factory, I took a spin on their new concept 'Axis.' This prototype attraction flips riders upside down in a side to side rotation throughout the twisted ride course. What did I think of this brand new creation? These are my thoughts!

“A cloned concept could work”
Six flags: hold my freespin

@@jnonoah4a wait then who's the right person?
@@translucenc3lol482
S-six flags..
Imagine this thing but with terrain like eagles Fortress that would be the greatest ride ever
This is what everland needs to replace eagle fortress.
Eagles Fortress was already one of the best rides ever made but this will take the cake
@@ArrowThrills E.X.A.C.T.L.Y
As a local, no coaster after 2008. No major ride opened after 2015. We need a coaster which is as good as Eagle Fortress .
I have the privilege of working in the S&S engineering group so I have had the opportunity to ride a few times. It has been a blast! It is crazy smooth and feels like flying! Like a bird being shot out of a cannon. Really cool stuff.
It needs a loop like on dragon fire at Canada's wonderland. Close your eyes and imagine the loop from dragon fire or another coaster similar to dragon fire on this.
@@wendyokoopa7048 A Loop wouldn't fell comfortable on it,I would think. It would have to be so drawn out
Thats awsome...thank you for shereing.
They need to hurry up and get this concept into a real park immediately because this is amazing.
We would all want that. However as the saying goes, “You can’t rush art!” or the cliche haste makes waste. I bet it’s gonna be so much more than this tiny prototype.
Lookup “the bat” and see why that is a terrible idea.. I can see that we will see some structural issues with this design but it is definitely really neat in both a engineering perspective and a rider perspective.
I realize it is quite randomly asking but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released series online?
@Antonio Stanley Flixportal :)
@Leon Allan Thanks, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I appreciate it!!
S&S really seem to be pushing to become the next big innovators of the amusement industry. This decade was RMC, maybe next decade will be S&S
Not exactly. RMC was innovative in elements, but for the most part they lack variety. S&S was an innovator for the entire decade.
B&M was the great inventor of the last decade.
@@RoadsFranconia All they did was create a wing coaster.
@@harrisonschneider8333 RMC's great innovation was track--moving beyond the binary of wood and tubular steel, now that we can build a complicated curving 3D shape with computer-aided design. Now, of course, given how great these I-box and Raptor coasters are, other companies are experimenting with similar things. I think it's really interesting that S&S uses RMC I-box track in the Free Spin, and I wonder if we might see more of that.
Sure Axis is cool, but what about the Allies?
r/cursed comments
how is it cursed?
I am so glad someone made this joke
Gav TV r/woooosh
why is this top comment? has nothing to do w/ the coaster, reddit quality
Park looking to buy a coaster: "So how many different things can your concept do?"
S&S Sansei: "Yes"
I honestly could see Universal using this attraction concept for the How to Train Your Dragon roller coaster at Epic Universe.
@@DoswarePictures do a barrel roll.
Taylor: “I do not want to see this with just one layout”
Six Flags: “Allow me to introduce myself”
Imagine a part where the track starts to roll and makes the vehicles stay in the middle, so that you would be going straight and the track is going around you, would be so weird to see
I think a zero-g roll is essentially that and I agree that it'd be very cool.
Then immediately after that make it where the track stays centered and the seats circle the track.
@@adamkendall997 I also was thinking about that! This brings so many new concepts
That would be freaking awsome.
@@adamkendall997 great idea
A tight non inverting loop would be so fun
Especially if you flip over when going over the top of it. Coaster-ception.
No a total loop like on dragon fire
@@wendyokoopa7048That wouldn’t be really interesting. I think a corkscrew would be insane!
I feel like it can kind of be seen as a "spiritual successor" to the suspended coaster. The concept looks good, hoping to see one pop up in the near future at a local Six Flags as they seem to be working with S&S quite a bit.
Since this is a prototype and Fiesta Texas is a "prototype-ish" park, I could see one maybe going there, but since its Six Flags idk. They did get the RMC Raptor and the Freespin so maybe.
Dosware Pictures they got the second
@@DoswarePictures that's why I said RMC Raptor
@@DoswarePictures That's not my point. The newer coasters that are coming out most of the time go to FT. Not saying everything does but some. It's a park in the SF line up that usually gets prototypes.
Someone else said that this could be the replacement of Eagles Fortress. That would be insane. Best Arrow ever (sorry X2) replaced by what could become the best coaster ever period.
@@coastercraziness Use to be my home park too. Then I moved out to Colorado. I'm hoping though!
he wasn't lying when he said he was gonna make a lot of videos about this
Cocoa It’s a brand new concept that has everyone talking! Plus when i’m one of the few who has physically gone there to ride it, might as well take advantage of the situation!
@@CoasterStudios I honestly like hearing you discuss the concept of this, you should keep on making videos on this concept.
This would be the perfect fit for Alton Towers as SW9... imagine if John Wardley got his hands on this!
This concept came out of nowhere and I'm loving it! As you said, so many creative possibilities out there... 🤩
I feel like these will start to show up around 2022 but we won't be seeing a major or bigger version of this until 2023-2024
They should have a layout like Eejanaika with big inversions and drops.
This looks amazing. I love rides that feel like more than a coaster. The way you rotate around the track is almost like you’re flying beside the coaster, instead of being in it.
There are several ideas I can visualise but cannot put into words. This is just amazing and can be used amazingly.
Forget flying coasters.
Now this is what I would love to see a Star Fox Arwing coaster based upon. It looks like it has that gliding feel that would fit that ride type well.
This is like the cooler version of the 7 Dwarfs ride at Disneyland
I am amazed by this prototype
almost everything is cooler than the 7 dwarves ride.... namely the one at disneyworld though, that's a really terrible coaster....
Garry Courtney ...so right, man. Not even my 7 yr. old likes that 7 Dwarf’s ride. He does get a kick out of Goofy’s Barnstormer, though...
Spectacular!! It is exciting to see a bit of what the coaster makers are thinking for the future. I just love this concept and hope to see this model become something every park feels like they need to have in order to round out their lineup. Like the invert or the launch coaster has done. Great vid CS. Thanks for opening this window for all of us to peer through!
One you are becoming legit dude. Can't believe you got invited to this 2 looks awesome I certainly hope we see a full coaster of this concept sometime in the near future
A barrel roll on a straight piece of track
Congrats on 150k bro! So cool to see you grow as a channel, keep up the great content. Ain’t no one else in the community getting this kind of access rn :)
This is such a cool concept! I can only imagine the possibilities with this concept and I hope it leads to something fantastic
I’m sure S&S really appreciates you bringing their concept to the GP. Thanks for covering this project, I really hope to see one of these in a park soon!
The type of coaster this reminds me the most of is the old Togo Pipeline coastesr.
I love this new concept! I can't wait to see new creative track layouts
Imagine all the awesome themes they could do for these coasters!
Haha
That first inversion is probably the closest thing i’ve seen to volcano’s first inversion
I hope King's Dominion installs one of these with the air launch and calls it "Hypersonic Volcano XLC: The Blast Coaster"
That's so cool!!! I'm so jealous that you got to ride this.
Knock, knock Cedar Fair this is right up your alley. Perhaps where Volcano The Blast Coaster used to be!
Imagine being in an inverted position, and then you go into a vertical loop, but at the top, you swing around the track like it did on the “Inline twist”
Something to consider with this ride is that it is very efficient when it comes to movement to steel ratio. An inline twist on this gives a similar amount of travel to a corkscrew.
This looks absolutely sick!
How lucky are you!...I doubt we'll be seeing one in Europe anytime soon but I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed !
This is an amazing idea. They can use this concept for pretty much any kind of experience a park could want. Family non-inverting heavily themed story experience (just think about the indoor ride possibilities) to an all out acrobatic freak out for thrill ride nuts. It looks really scalable too with launch vs lift hill (both!) and being able to make compact and large layouts so big and small park budgets could get one of these. It's like what RMC wants to do with Raptor, they're pretty cheap with how much material is needed to build them. S&S could easily create next gen Arrow Suspended coasters just by making a layout catered to non-inverting swinging. Those are dieing out so it would be awesome for that to happen.
I can't wait to see what comes out of this.
This seems like this could be a good Superman ride at six flags.
This has Six Flags Magic Mountian written all over it.
With all their B&M and Arrow rides, they could do with some S&S goodness.
Don't forget the trains will have six cars! Backseat rides would be awesome!!
Dude you have no idea how much I want to ride this!! As soon and I saw it my imagination went wild, like you said there are endless possibilities!
I've been on around 150 different coasters so far all across North America and other than X2 or the free spin coasters nothing comes close to Axis. The first park that gets one of these you can bet I'll be there with you in line ready to ride!!!
Looks so fun!
Imagine a raven turn on this thing
That would be awesome! Especially because you wouldn't know which way you were going to flip at the top!
Dude when you showed iron dragon I had thought: how much longer is Iron Dragon's service life good for? If they continue tearing down and replacing coasters by Arrow I could see one of these in Iron Dragon spot with some sweet maneuvers over the water.
Dude... You make a very good point!
wow this is actually awesome!
Keep up the good videos! Your going places.
Cedar point will definitely look into this...I'd love to see this track over water or some landscapes. S&S good work
I’d love to see this at my homepark which is Playland in Vancouver, this would get so many people to come to it, and since they’ve finally closed down the Corkscrew they’d be able to put a new coaster in its place.
Universal and Disney would love this! Imagine the theming. The NEAR MISSES!!
There are so many possibilities! They could send riders through a small track 3 times but give the riders a different ride experience each time!
I think the element at 6:58 seems like the best one out of this prototype! It really looks like you'll get a huge sensation of falling when the car swings over the track like that. Imagine that at a much bigger scale and I think type of element would be really really thrilling
i could see this being some star wars pod racing coaster
That would be fun but it would have to be at a Disney Park since Disney owns Star Wars.
Thats very cool, swinging over the track must make your stomach drop, thats damn cool.
I hope we gonna see a nice longer layout for that, there are a lot of possibilities, depending on the speed of the train every element will be different. It would be great to see such an attraction in a heavily themed park such as phantasialand, image all the near misses which are possible.
I really hope King's Dominion decides to put this in the place of the former Volcano Coaster. Maybe even with some intricate themeing.
I like the concept. I could see some park kennywood work with S&S again and use their unique terrain to come up with something crazy
This looks like it would be an amazing ride! I would definitely ride it ;)
Love your vids!
Looks like awesome fun!! S & S are taking up where Arrow left off.
Imagine if these cars were on steel curtain 😶😶
It would be cool to see something like this at Hershey
So cool 😱
This looks terrific. I hope they solved the lateral stress issue that coasters like Big Bad Wolf had. No park is going to want one of these if they're a maintenance nightmare, especially after 2020.
This is amazing hurry and get these everywhere so awesome
I think this would be fantastic for Dorney park.
1. Lower capacity won’t be a big deal there.
2. Totally different from anything in the area despite having so much competition.
3. If they are the first park to get it there would likely be a discount because it would be a first of its kind and parks don’t even know if it will be a hit or not. This means Cedar fair wouldn’t have to break the bank for one of their smaller end parks.
4. It’s been too damn long since they got a new original coaster and if they do it right, this could put them back on the map in an area that has stiff competition.
5. If dorney doesn’t get it, six flags or Hershey park will get it and continue to take away from Dorney’s customer base.
Note: I’m not entirely sure if reason 3 Is actually realistic, but I thought I heard prototype rides typically have a discount.
OMG I need to ride this!
That looks fun. Give it some long-ass trains and make a giga with an inverted lift hill. 👍
I stated this in a previous post. This concept would work great in the Giga Coaster sector of the Roller Coaster industry.
I hope they install an Axis ride in the Polynesian area of PortAventura, my home park 🤣
Kings dominion should grab this as a replacement for Volcano 🌋R.I.P
It's an incredible effort of engineering and simulation to predict the movement of the carriage and influence it by changing minute details on the track
What I really liked with the backward travel on this (even though it was primarily for reducing the braking G) is that effectively changes the inertial properties of the track, so a change of direction results in a fundamentally different ride experience
Looks amazing. Suspended loading station would be a must, and have a sway locking system while loading. I'd think Cedar Point, Magic Mountain or Hershey as a probable first location. This looks so amazing, I'm guessing the "Big Boys" will be fighting for dibbs.
Heck yeah! Put it where the Vortex was at Kings island!!
I would love to see theming with this, you can be way more dynamic with up-close decoration and props looking like they come right at you.
Oh and ofcourse: THIS IS VR WOULD BE SICKK
It also reminds me of the new Vekoma flying coaster they are developing at Phantasialand, that will have a sideways track portion as well.
YES THANK YOU :D
I first saw this prototype on the ACE RUclips channel and it blew me away. I'm glad you were given this opportunity to not only ride it but also do an extensive set of videos on it, better explaining what's going on and what to possibly expect. Now for what park this should go to... I admit I'm biased in favor of my home park of Six Flags Magic Mountain. But I really think this should show up there first three reasons. 1) Arrow Dynamics' Viper custom looper is getting old and outdated. The queue for it is almost completely empty almost every time I've been there (save that Saturday I went a few weeks ago when the park was almost as filled as Disneyland on an at capacity day thanks to Fright Fest). I can't imagine it's cheap to keep it operating and it's probably well beyond its service life. 2) There's history with Six Flags and Magic Mountain and their building of a similar groundbreaking ride that sits right next to Viper... the ride that bankrupted Arrow Dynamics, X. Six Flags invested a lot of capital into that ride, even though it needed a redesign and Arrow had gone bankrupt, resulting in X2. While it's possible Six Flags could've learned the opposite lesson from their experience with X2 and would shy away from this sort of risk, I don't think this is the case here. S&S, unlike Arrow when X was being built, is in great financial shape. Especially given the fact that they're owned by the Japanese company Sansei, which had just bought Vekoma last year. I also think Six Flags will consider the expense to be worth it given that for what will be probably the price of your usual B&M coaster, they will get a first-in-the-world prototype which would be a huge draw for their flagship park. 3) A new roller coaster tends to be built at Magic Mountain every 3 years. Six Flags made the investment into West Coast Racers back in 2017 with an opening in 2019. Granted, that opening is delayed to early 2020 (much like an attraction at a neighboring park in Anaheim). But the money has been spent and the next project is probably being cooked up as we speak. Given that the next coaster Magic Mountain will likely see will be in 2022, the timing is perfect for S&S to design a potential ride at Magic Mountain (probably on the Viper site) and propose how much it will cost Six Flags to build.
So yep, I'm thinking Six Flags Magic Mountain will be the park that gets this ride. Again, I admit I'm biased seeing as I live in Los Angeles and love that park. But the need to replace the aging Viper, the history of building a ground-breaking ride at that park, and the timing for the need of a new ride all make for a convincing argument that it will go there.
Yep It seems to be crazy good, and it doesn't seems to make you sick at all. Only the good stuff.
This looks like something universal or Disney could add a lot of theming to
I would love to see this at valleyfair
mainly because it's my home park
This concept is the best thing i have ever seen. I think this would be a perfect fit at Ceder Point in Ohio.
I wouldn’t be surprised is Magic Mountain got one of these in 2021 for their 50th anniversary. Since they just removed green lantern, they could also remove tidal wave and that opens up a pretty good plot of land. I can imagine this coaster being pretty compact. Six flags has been working with S&S a lot in recent years so it would only make sense
Layouts - you can stack the track in certain areas to save space. Possibly even double back on itself. Maybe even have two tracks sharing the same center support path, and have them do chicken going toward each other in a roll.
this is a great coaster to make the worlds first launch that does a full inverting twist!
This ride in a huge Pandora forest as flight of the banshees!!!!! That'll be amazing!!!!
Very nice Concpt, i will fly it
It could break the record for the most inversions on a coaster because it wouldn't affect us as much as it would on a normal coaster but it would still be fun
Imagine a tie fighter Star Wars ride...
axis parody next?
Reminds me of when you faf about with the swinging mine train in planet coaster and get an invert
It looks absolutely insane. Like, different from anything we've seen before in the industry. My only worry is in the way the track is shaped. I know this is only a prototype, and we have no clue what a full-scale design is going to look like, but the original Bat at Kings Island didn't really have banked turns, and because the ride traveled so quickly through the layout, the track went through obscene amounts of stress. That last turn on this model, as well as part of the roll, looks like it'd also put a lot of stress on the track and wheels, so I'm wondering how they're planning on avoiding those issues.
This does look absolutely dope, though.
The benefit of modern technology is they can simulate what twenty years of hard wear will do to the track before ever building a physical coaster.
The original bat was only supposed to go to a certain angle though. That was why the shock absorbers were getting destroyed. I know that it wasn't meant to, but the arrow suspended coasters could not do a full 360 even if you flipped the track over. This is able to do a full 360 and won't have anything stopping it from doing so.
Dope!
US:
Nah that coasters to weird for us
EUROPE:
Oh bloody hell this right here is a masterpiece
Great review as always taylor, you present your videos as if you’ve been doing this for decades buddy. So polished and easy to understand , i much prefer these in depth analysis than simply watching an on ride review where there’s nothing but annoying middle aged men shouting “weeee loop de loop” I equally enjoy theme park world wide and theme park crazy, you 3 have all got bags of charisma and likability 👍
thank you so much!
I love this
I could see this being both a kiddie-style ride, as well as a more thrilling version
I can imagine a coaster using this model that loads with the track above your head and a lift hill that rotates as you travel up it, so that when you end the lift hill with the track below you.
This is being built in Utah? Frrrrrrick yeah. Love my home state!
