    What fun! A special holiday gift to all of us from The Sound Couple. This gig is certainly not the normal kind of gig to which Bart and Stacy allow us to tag along. But, this video is rich with a long list of learning opportunities for us. I feel like we've been given a very special Holiday Treat, as we watch Bart navigate the front-of-house duties at this special concert.
    As always, a tip-of-the-hat to The Sound Couple for continuing to illustrate how the excellence in honing the craft of providing production services pays off with big benefits for the performers and for the audience. A very Merry Christmas to Bart and Stacy.

      Yes...couple of considerations. It would probably been a good idea to inform them I was recording...but a more significant challenge is posting the content on RUclips. It is very difficult to post musical content on RUclips without being demonetized or incur revenue sharing. This really impacts how we are able to present the content. If you go back in our catalog of videos, we used to demonstrate recordings, etc....sadly, it's not possible for us to provide content like this any longer....at least consistently.

    Merry Christams from Italy, Stacy&Bart, two simple questions: 1) Which PA was there in that theater and did you find the system already calibrated? 2) I noticed that you left the wireless systems in the control room and therefore at a considerable distance from the stage, aren't you afraid of disturbances and frequency drops during the show? Have Happy New Year and at the next gig!

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  15 дней назад

      Thanks for your questions....the system has been in the room since 2017, so I can only assume it was tuned and it was just fine to mix on. It's a busy theatre, so I can also only assume that the wireless mics at FOH is working for them. We did have one mic acting up, but they were able to resolve by scanning. Have a great New Year!

    You probably want to run four outputs. L, R, sub, and fills. That will give you more control. I’m assuming there are fills in this theater. Did you get a trace to confirm the pa is processed the way you expected?

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  19 дней назад +1

      The one thing I would probably do differently next time is to run the subs off an aux. It seems like they have exhausted their "tuning" of the system (including balcony fills) and they will be doing some upgrades in the future.

    • @markjastrzebski2065
      @markjastrzebski2065 19 дней назад

      @ unfortunately you can never know beforehand what the pa is doing in some theaters. I had a theater where I had to shut off the amp feeding the full speakers because it clashed with the main pa. When the fills were on, the vocals disappeared in some parts of the theater. Mixing theaters is definitely a cool gig

    • @thesoundcouple
      @thesoundcouple  18 дней назад

      @@markjastrzebski2065 It can be important to know what questions to ask, but I was hired to mix FOH, so that's what I focused on. That said, it does feel like the system could use an assessment to ensure it's working optimally. I don't know if they have had anyone come in to look at it or if it's just been the staff applying their knowledge.

    Before rehearsal did you get a chance to walk the room and evaluate the in house PA? Was there even, adequate coverage or was it spotty and changing depending where you were seated? How did your mix translate to different parts of the room? Mixing under a balcony always provides challenges. Curious as to what the in house PA was.

    • @thesoundcouple

      Volume of drums is a common challenge in auditoriums like this...the drummer was doing what he could and the snare was not in the mix...E-drums??

      @@thesoundcouple I noticed that too. And the snare was not in the mix. Yes, a good electronic drum system could perhaps be better here.
