I have struggled with understanding aspects and I've watched, listened, and read many other videos/materials online explaining them. But this video is, by far, the one that significantly breaks my ceiling of non-understanding and opens my mind up to a greater horizon of astrology. Well-done and thank you, Kelly!
As someone with venus square Saturn separating you don’t know how much relief this gave me
As a Gemini Rising I love playing chess and this concept of Applying and Separating planetary movements is very interesting to me. I've already worked on a few aspects that coincided with celebrity charts you covered in this video and I'm learning so much more about myself and about my life from it.
For instance, my My Mercury and Venus are wide-Sextiling orb 9*19' and they are Separating in Natal and Progressed - and as I've gotten older, I've been separated from being able to do music or anything else creative with it. Ditto with writing.
Seeing that in both my charts actually takes some pressure off me because I know I have talent and drive and should have accomplished more, but this lifetime is all about going towards my NN in Cancer, 1st house, even though I feel like fighting that every step of the way. It's amazing to me to look back and see how people and events in my life seemed to conspire to take away anything I gained from putting the work into areas of creative development and expression.
I can't wait to apply this to all of my planets, and the way you've described it has made it easier for me to learn how to assess the moving relationships within my chart, in my mind, and in my life. Thank you, Kelly. 💐

Already 26 minutes in and I've learned so much 😍
I'm in my mid-20s and find that many of my separating aspects have not 'resolved' since childhood. In fact I feel them repeating too, but in more psychological ways than through external events. Especially with sun applying aspects, I believe it's about enlightening and awakening into the depth of the aspect and what it can mean. Thank you for all this info.
Love what you've said about the sun applying aspects! Absolutely agree. It will be interesting to see how your separating aspects continue to develop and evolve, especially psychologically, through your first Saturn return, as that will solidify the earlier life experiences. Are any of your separating aspects also involved in applying aspects to other planets, which could perhaps be accentuating the lessons from those earlier experiences through this sort of further growth that is carried forward? ~ Isabella, Team Kelly

Amazing video, thank you! I also have a Sun-Pluto separating square, and a Moon-Mars separating square, as well. Which is involved in a T square with Venus. We could talk about those aspects for months... I'd love to see some other content from you about "when the aspects show problems starting later in life". I'm not a fan of problems, though, I'm a fan of finding solutions :)

The quote at the end brought tears to my eyes. This is brilliant! I really learned a lot. Thank you so much. I'm curious about out of sign aspects i.e. Mars at 28 Scorpio square Sun at 1 degree of Virgo if you have a minute to say whether it is valid. Thanks again... I Love it!
Hi Dani, yes, this is a valid square aspect! It's not considered a square by sign, but rather by degree. So this does change up a bit of the interpretation of the aspect, as part of what makes a square so challenging is the friction between the modal/elemental/polarity balance. For example, Scorpio is a fixed yin water sign, whereas Leo, its natural square, is fixed fire yang. There is an inherent friction between Leo's desire to proactively engage (yang) with Scorpio's desire to reactively receive (yin), in addition to the elemental differences between Fire and Water-- combined, they create steam! With the Sun in Virgo in this square, some of that inherent friction between the two placements is released, as Earth and Water signs share more in common-- they are both yin, and water is nourishing for the earth when it becomes too dry. There is still tension with this aspect, as that 90* angle still requires a pivot-- but it's a bit softer.
Some astrologers do not consider out of sign aspects at all, and Kelly may have some additional thoughts to share on this. Ultimately, see what resonates with your experience as you feel out these aspects!

Does it also work out, when planets are just minutes apart or in 1 degree Aspects. For example Mercury retrograde ♓️ at 9°02 (speed -0.53) Square Neptune ♐️ at 9°31 (speed 0.00). Would it be a separating aspects?

Since it's been 10 months, I'm going to say what I think but I am just learning this. I think that because your Mercury and Neptune are at the same degree, they are applying because that's what I heard Kelly say. And I believe your faster Mercury is applying to your Neptune because it's a lower number by the minute.

What if you do not have a lot of applying aspects?
Try using a 10 degree orb. I find that it usually applies to my aspects even if it seems excessive compared to what most astrologers recommend. Try it out for yourself and see if it makes sense to you. It's easier for me to know because I'm almost 60; if I was younger, I'm not sure what I would think because I wouldn't know how my life is going to work out like I do now, but in my case, I can clearly see that 10 degree aspects often help me make sense of things I've been through and am currently going through.
