Instead of cutting and gluing 28 pieces, cut 6 vertical pieces the full height and cut slits that will slide onto the horizontal pieces. The slit measurements are the thickness of the board. Then slide the vertical pieces into place. More measuring but less gluing.
I tried storing my markers in little cubicle type box shelves (or a divided space) But it was difficult for me to reach in and take the pen/pencil from this pile in the opened end box . It takes 2 hands to get at the one you want .....one hand to hold the other pens back, so they don't fall out and one hand to reach in and grab the pen . I agree all 2 tip ended pens should be stored laying down ..and all single tip pens should be stored with the one tip down. Pencils with the tips up ..I found the easy way to store a pen flat is in a flat 4 sided box with an open side on the top like a drawer so that you can reach down into the pile in the drawer or stationary box and get the pen you want and let gravity hold the rest in place .I divided a big flat wooden drawer with chip board one open sided boxes for my 2 ended pens ..I may still have to dig for them a bit but at least i can get at them with out pulling the others off the shelf .I save and collect chip board which is real easy to do because so many of our groceries are packaged in chip board .you could easily put sturdy drawers in the divided space you made .use 1/2 corks for the pulls on these drawers .this way yu can just place the box of colors your working with next to your paper .I'm considering putting a plastic window in the face of these square cubbie type drawers i made so i can see the colors through the plastic windows.
Sandy Beebe wow you are super creative when it comes to storage :D I just elevated my shelf at the front so that it reclines slightly to the back. My markers are still stored somewhat horizontal and they don't fall out when I grab one :)
7:14 is when the actual instructions start, I literally copied that off ur description cause I'm on mobile and I can't click on the description time stamps XD
+Yami Chan Of course you can craft however you want to. The math is just there to know the end result in advance. It's a waste of time and work materials to craft a shelf you don't like eventually because it's too small, too big, doesn't fit your marker type, etc. :)
Doodle Bags hi I would just use a more durable material. Such as plexiglass or a thin piece of wood such as a panel. Panel wood you can get in different sizes and thinkness so you can change the weight of the shelf. Where I live to buy a very large panel is 13 dollars for a 4ft by 4ft board.but you can get them as small as 2feet by 2feet and sometimes at the store they cut wood down for you in you have your measurements. I would probably use wood if you want to wall mount it and depending if you want to have pegs sticking out from the walll to support it from the bottom or screw it into the wall straight throught the back of it I would choose wisely how think the wood is for durability. I hope this was helpful and not confusing.
Jason Windle You can calculate that with the measures I gave for the individual pieces :) You have to adapt to the sizes available in your craftstore and imagine all individual parts lying directly next to each other starting with the biggest one (the back of the shelf). I bought 2 of the biggest sheets available but I don't remember the measurements.
Isomon Ya got me, I didn't want to do any math to figure it out on my own haha. Thanks a ton, I'll calculate it after I make my colour chart based on yours(You wouldn't happen to have a scan or a high quality picture of it on hand, would you?)
Jason Windle Haha, fully understand you. I hate maths, too ;)) What do you mean by "color chart"? You don't really need a color chart for this shelf. Just make the compartments as big as you want them to be because I'm sure you won't have the exact same amount of markers for your entire life :) If you want to take a closer look at my color chart, check out the art supply hauls on my channel, however, they always cut the lowest colors off because my chart is too big for the camera angle X3 You can also google Copic color charts and make your own one based on them.
Isomon Yeah sorry I know I don't need a colour chart for my shelf, I just really need to make a better one than the one I have, and I saw the one you use in your other videos, I like it a LOT more. I think I've figured it out though! I can't wait to have so much room for storage, thanks again! :D
Jason Windle Ah ok, now I get it :) You can basically make a screenshot of my color chart from my other videos and just add the few colors which are missing at the bottom. That should be no problem :) (I think it's just 2 to 3 colors which are cut off.) Haha, yeah, such a shelf makes your storage so much easier! :D And it's really nice to look at. I wish you a happy crafting session!
Thanks for pointing this out! :) I know that not a lot of people take a look at the infobox but it's also in there ;)) I always try to include a time skip list for every one of my longer videos.

Amazing 😄
I just finished making this. Except I only made of it. So a square with 16 'holes'. It is brilliant thank you so much for this tutorial!
+Catherine Letchford Thanks a lot for your comment! I'm glad it helped you :D
I would love a storage shelf just like this one for my copic markers.
These have been such great videos Thanks.
Thanks a lot for your feedback :)
Thanks for a well informerd video, I got inspired by this and made my own Copic marker shelf. (Kinda) It works, and I had fun while I made it ^^

The math in this pissed me off.
I'll just wing it.
+Wolfie Avenue I. love.your.hair!
KymanForLife thanks :)
***** You're welcome
+Wolfie Avenue lool right? I'm just thinking the same...why ruin crafty fun times with math? I'll figure it out on the fly

my desk isn't big enough for this. nore do i have any other places in my room for it, or any other case... can i wall mount this? will it hold up?

Really cool tutorial and all, but do you happen to remember how much foam board you needed to purchase for this project?

Hey, du kommst aus Deutschland oder? was bedeutet foam board auf Deutsch?

Okay super danke :)
I wish u would just show us!!
Btw, the video has time stamps in the description box. You can skip anything you don't like :)
Isomon Kay sorry
What is your accent? It sounds really cool, lol.
+EasyReadingforListeners Haha thanks, I'm German :)

Toooooo complicated
I really like it. Also check out Woodglut and plans.

Boy, you turn me

And round and round...
They have copic shelfs
+Mw3's Tutorials Yup, but they are suuuper-expensive :)
i can barely afford 1 copic. there's no way i can afford a shelf made specifically for them.
