  • Film footage of the Upper Canada Railway Society's TTC streetcar charter on June 3rd 1961, taken by John Freyseng.
The group of rail fans had chartered Peter Witt streetcars #2424 and #2894, plus PCC #4708 for an excursion across Toronto.
Some of the stops included Dufferin Loop, High Park/Bloor Loop, Long Branch Loop, Ferry Loop, and Russell Yard. The loop at Bloor and High Park was removed in 1966, with the opening of the Bloor-Danforth subway line.
Witts #2424 and #2894 are now in our collection at the Halton County Radial Railway. These historic streetcars still operate today on our large museum property on Guelph Line. The museum will re-open this summer after the Covid-19 lockdown is over.
