    This is the first time I have watched a car revew from this source and I was really impressed, the review seemed comprehensive honest and authoritative and completely devoid of the eccentric quirky and poor attempts at humor that irritate on so many youtube car reviews while still remaining entertaining. I am not really in the market for such a small car but just thought the Toyota Cross stylish looks were so distinctive and interesting I just had to find out more. So thanks for adding this upload to youtube as this will be I am sure a big help to any prospective buyer.

    Great review, thank you. It brought back some nice memories. I have always loved little cars with manual transmissions. My first car was a Ford Festiva (aka Mazda 121) with a 5 speed manual and 63 horsepower/73 lb ft torque. I remember driving through the British Columbia mountains, never getting beyond first or second gear when heading upwards. But I definitely remember getting 50+mpg and only filling up the gas tank once per month.

  • @riaz8783
    @riaz8783 2 года назад +5

    Totally agree with Brian's points. It's a shame the 3.5m car has been ditched because of low profit margins. Especially with fuel being so expensive; small, economical cars could really shine.

  • @RogerM88
    @RogerM88 2 года назад +28

    This car is way more efficient and Eco friendly than most of electric SUV on the market. Many people in virtue signalling about Climate Change should consider this Aygo instead of an overpriced heavy BEV.

    • @HidingAllTheWay
      @HidingAllTheWay 2 года назад +3

      Depends on the source of electricity, if charged with mostly renewable and/or nuclear electricity EVs are order magnitude more efficient than ICE cars, so even this tiny car would be blown out of the water, and even if compared to EV charged on mixed grid it would probably loose. Though that's strictly from greenhouse gas emmsion perspective, impact from other aspects like material extraction is another, more complicated topic.

    • @RogerM88
      @RogerM88 2 года назад +4

      @@HidingAllTheWay battery production still too pollutant and too constraint to supply chains, and the trend for BEV SUVs are far from being really efficient.

    • @HidingAllTheWay
      @HidingAllTheWay 2 года назад +2

      @@RogerM88 the "~10 times less lifetime CO2eq emmsisions than equivalent ICE car if charged with renewable/nuclear sourced electricity" part includes greenhouse gas emmsions from manufacturing of batteries (though stuff like non-greenhouse gas polution from mining is separate issue). In general in case of ICE vehicles production is responsible for less than 10% of their lifetime greenhouse emissions, so even though manufacturing of BEVs results in more emmisions it can be offset in as few as few thousand miles in the best case scenario - and even in the worst case (running mostly on coal generated electricity) EV will eventually be better than equivalent ICE in several years of average driving (though in that case this tiny ICE car would most likely beat a large electric SUV).
      The fact that supply chains are not yet ready for people to switch to EVs right this moment is an issue, though not really enviromental one.

    • @RogerM88
      @RogerM88 2 года назад +2

      @@HidingAllTheWayif...but not currently. More like Coal powered. With issues as quickly obsolete for newer battery technology, and barely surpassing a decade of usage to a battery replacement, that most of times totaled the car. If BEVs were so great economically, then they wouldn't need so much tax incentives.

OK, it wont beat the land speed record and you have to rev the engine a little more when you start off because of the 3 cylinder engine but drive wise, brilliant. Economy wise , I'm getting around 55 mpg per full tank and around 50-65 mpg per trip. I'm actually making up excuses to go drive in it coz I love it that much LOL.

    Hi there.
    I do like your reviews very much. I have the old Aygo (2 years old!) and wanted to move up to the Yaris after driving it. Then I saw this was coming out and thought the green one special edition auto would be for me. But…. It’s £22000!
    After seeing the Aygo X in person, I went right off it. No chance but I get that an auto with soft top (and heated seats!) would be very good.
    Then Thomas, I saw your review on the new Skoda Fabia. I had one four years ago and enjoyed driving it but thought it was very ugly. The new Fabia is so much better looking. A real gem of design and better looking by far than the Ibiza or VW Polo.
    So I’ve ordered the Colour Edition 110 6 speed and thank you so much for the reviews. You helped get me a car this time and it’s cheaper than the Aygo X, with power! 👍

      It's a trend that's very common these days. With fuel efficiency becoming more of a consideration there's a lot of 1 liter cars being made. My first car was a 1996 Polo with a 1.4 liter engine. Those cars are only sold as 1 liter engines now. Often with some sort of turbo to get some punch out of them. I think it's not bad that we move back to a more "car as transport" mentality instead of "car as race vehicle on the public road" approach.

    Toyota makes horrendous manual gearboxes for the small cars. I had a previous generation Yaris and the manual gearbox is loathed by everyone who drives it. Once again, why the BLACK interiors. Small cars should be fun to drive, look at and funky. Black is not funky.

      I really didn't mind the manual gearbox in my 2012 Yaris. My fiance has a 2015 Nissan Micra and I think its manual gearbox is much worse. You just don't feel anything, you can only guess if you have hit the right gear until you try it. Really hate that thing. The only thing I didn't like with my Yaris' gearbox was that the first gear was often difficult to put in if you were not standing completely still.

    • @TL-xw6fh
      @TL-xw6fh 2 года назад +1

      @@kaku_96 That is true of the Yaris gearbox. The reason why it is difficult to engage first gear is that it does not have a synchromesh for the first gear to save on cost! You have to be stationery or practise double declutching to engage it smoothly.

    • @kaku_96
      @kaku_96 2 года назад

      @@TL-xw6fh good to know. It thought about that being the reason but I never searched for it since I just learned to get along with it and drove this model for 4.5 years (unfortunately I crashed the first one and then bought another one). Changed it for a 9 month old Premiere Edition Yaris hybrid (presentation car before I bought it) last week and am very happy with my decision.

    We would be eager to have a review on the Citroen C4 2021-2022.
    And I would LOVE to see your review on the new Renault Australe when it will be available!

    If they want people to call it Aygo Cross, they should have named it that 🤷‍♂️. Everyone’s going to call it X.

    This is an awful car. Everything thats wrong with modern car design. Wheels too big, too much unpainted plastic. Those rear windows are hideous. Very poor quality. Just buy a 2 year old Corolla

    My manual Aygo is in the shop for service and Toyota gave me a Aygo X with a CVT... The Aygo with A CVT is slower and the way it works is honestly irritating - a CVT(eCVT) is perfect in a Hybrid, but not so much in a 72 hp Aygo X in my opinion. Can't wait to get my regular 2nd generation Aygo back ...... The new Aygo X has slightly better materials inside the cabin than my 2nd gen (2021) Aygo. HOWEVER, the X feels more NARROW in the driver's seat. There is more space for my left knee (LHD) in my 2nd gen Aygo - Go Figure

    I barely fit in the first gen one, so it’s nice to see this has been sorted.

    still has gotten at least 2x as big as the original aygo, it's basically the size of the old yaris so what's the point, why does it keep on growing to the point they have to introduce something smaller to fill that market gap

    Having seen one in person today in a showroom and owning the 2015 model, I can say they fixed most problems, but they aren't even close to being done. It still feels cheap and flimsy in a lot of places (not the new center console, it's pretty nice), and I couldn't verify if it drives better than previous ones, where the previous ones wobbled horribly around 110-120kph (which are perfectly fine motorway speeds) and above. If they didn't do anything about it and now it's taller, I'm kinda afraid it's gonna be straight up scary and dangerous to drive on motorways. Power is another thing, I'd assume that they'd make it a hybrid, even a soft one, but no, it's still just as it was, and it was already not great.
    I'm also not even gonna start complainging about pricing, which is straight up too high and can't actually get the tech you want as it's not an option unless you get apropriate trim (is automatic aircon that much to ask in comfort trim???). All in all, a step in the right direction, but only a step, and singular at that.
    Edit: I agree that the phone is weird and the shape of the infotainment are weird, it would look so much better if they just kept it classic.

      It's called profiteering, and they will sell to the least assuming drivers who have enough money to part with.

    Hmm interesting, this will be going up against the similarly priced but rather more spacious Suzuki Ignis. It looks nicer than the Ignis I think but still I'd prefer the Ignis (and will stick with my one!)
