Such and EXCELLENT tutorial! Thank you so much for explaining everything by not only telling us *what* to do, but also *why* it works, or does not work! I am an inconsistent user of my cutter and software so my knowledge is limited, and even what I have known needs refreshing often! I am so thankful to have found your incredibly helpful videos!

Thanks for commenting! I'm case you're getting ready to cut a regular decal, like one for your car window or a stainless steel tumbler, I'll tell you this: in my business, I use Oracal 651 vinyl, and I use Duck brand clear "contact" paper for the transfer tape.
And I may as well throw in the best cutting advice I have, too: every machine (even every Cameo 4) is different, and every blade (even the same brand and style blade) is different, so every time you use a new blade or a different type of material or even a new mat, the first cut should be a test cut. Make it one with curves and corners (I just use the shadow tool or freehand one) to test my cut settings on an unused portion of the vinyl, for example (I place my test shape in a spot that won't be cut in my design, turn off cut lines to my design, cut the test shape, DO NOT send my mat out of the Cameo. I check to see if the rest shape weeds cleanly and easily, and if it does, I turn off cut lines to the test shape, turn my design's cut lines back on, and cut. (And, of course, if there's a problem with the test cut, I adjust cut settings, make a new test shape, and repeat the process until it's good, then I save the settings with a new name. Something like "Oracal 651" or whatever I'll later remember.
Good luck. I hope you'll come back and tell me how it goes!

I don't use Silhouette Studio to print, as a general rule (except for the occasional Print & Cut project).
This video is showing how to cut a design larger than the cutting mat, so what I don't show is the actual cutting. Once I've got it set up, I click on the "Send" tab, choose (or customize) my cut settings, and click the "Send" button.
Is there a specific question I can help with?

So sorry I'm just seeing replies today. I hope you have figured it out, but if you haven't, I'd like to help. Here's a way to do it if your image isn't particularly complex:
      1. Place your design on your mat like I've shown in the video, with extra off the right side of the mat.
      2. Alt-click on the design to make a copy exactly on top.
      3. Draw a rectangle around the cut area.
      4. From your Replicate Panel, choose Duplicate Right. (creates another rectangle exactly next to the first)
      5. Click on the design, and shift-click (you'll be selecting the top copy) on the left rectangle.
      6. From the Modify Panel, choose Subtract. (you'll see several pieces are selected: group them or make them a compound path.)
      7. Click on the full design, then shift-click on the right rectangle.
      8. From the Modify Panel, choose Subtract. (you'll see several pieces are selected: group them or make them a compound path.)
      Hope that helps!

So confused 😩 I got it to subtract as you stated but where did it go? It left and now I can’t cut it

    • @meridethbaker1321
      @meridethbaker1321  3 года назад

@@danielleeasley9907 I'm so sorry for the late reply. I don't look at RUclips very often. You may have already figured it out, but if not, maybe I can help (or maybe someone in the future will have the same problem and see the solution here).
The problem may be that you subtracted instead of dividing. Subtract will take away the object that's on top/in front position. Instead, divide will cut the design in two.
Please let me know if I can help further.

Well . . . the size you can print will be limited by your printer. And remember your design area is a bit smaller when using the print and cut registration marks. But if you wanted to print and cut pieces and assemble them afterward, then yes, same process. hth!
