He is with out a doubt, the best drummer in the world. I only wish Buddy could see him today. He would tell you himself. Absolutely amazing in every aspect of drumming. He has it all.
i'm a drummer's son from turkey. My father play drum till 40 year. He is 60 year old. He listen to much year gene krupa, buddy rich, dave weckl... But yesterday see in youtube dylan elise first time. with a chance. And he can't say nothing. Only say magnificent, perfect and same thinks. Bravo Dylan. Loves from Turkey
U really can't appreciate this kid's skill level unless you're a drummer yourself. His rudiments are unbelievably fast and accurate. The ability to do a different thing with each hand & foot, to do 4 different things at a time is so hard, it's almost impossible. Most drummers hold beats, do fills, rudiments, etc. but he's holding 4/4 with his hands while doing off beats with his feet and switching back n forth from bass drum pedal to cow bell pedals AND twirling his sticks while doing 9 SRs DAM!
Haha hey man, unfortunately I wasn't born to play drums lol. This has all come from hard work! I had to be the most uncoordinated, most unrhythymical drummer when I started.
It's the spirit behind it that matters and you've got a fuck ton! I would have loved to have a friend who played as good as you! I'd learn so much just watching. Cheers!
Can you imagine being Dylan’s parents and hearing some of these sounds coming from their boy’s drum room when he first started getting his beats and style going?!?!?! Holy s*#!!!!!!!!!!!! Freakin amazing!
DylanElise I was given a drum set by Mr. & Mrs. Clause 🎅🏻 when I was around 12 or so. I think shortly thereafter and for a few years later they were regretting my present lol 😂
Dylan came to our school today. I'm 47 and while I haven't seen many drummers perform live I can say without doubt he is THE best I've ever seen. He's the complete package...articulate, talented and a natural showman. I'd say his biggest challenge will be choosing which of the many career paths that are open to him to go down. I will follow your progress with interest Dylan. Good luck.
The thing that I enjoy about Dylan over the other "best drum solo ever" is that this actually has a or make that many beats that you can hear. All these other solo's on youtube are essentially just them hitting random drums and cymbals over and over again. Keep up the hard work Dylan, your shiat is amazing.
Dylan, I've been playing for fifty years and I've seen the best drummers all over the world. You are the best I have ever seen and at your age. You are an absolute phenom. Put up a swing -style solo, please because I'm convinced there is nothing that you can't do on a set of drums. You're simply the very best to the extent that you have totally mastered every phase of the instrument. I'm absolutely speechless. And do I have some ideas for you.
Love your Latin flair on drums...some of it sounds like Samba/ Brazilian 😍 so tribal, healing, yet danceable💕 🥁💕. Excellent performances you have...like your style. 👍 And also like how your drums are tuned, and their sound. 👍
Hey guys, thanx heaps for all your positive feedback! There are so many Awesome drummers of varying levels on RUclips giving inspirational performances but more useful is the free advice and tuition they share. I'm slowly trying to set myself up to record some tuitional material and if anyone has any ideas of material, I'll be glad to try and assist. Although a lot of areas seem to be covered already. Lol. Keep drumming alive wherever you are!!!
Only the top Jazz drummers can improvise in melodic rhythms, a development of small motives that evolve gradually but with the right timing of surprises that keeps you on your toes. Dylan is not only fast, agile and spectacular, he is also melodic 'sometime'. When he succeeded to create these kind of phrases, the audience went wild from understanding the subject (motives) thus becoming part of the rhythmic conversation. He is young & is getting there, the level where your drum sings poetry!
I swear to God that Dylan is superhuman! This guy is a prodigy and a musical genius. What he does is incredible. The technical difficulty of this latin solo is extremely impressive and his sense/taste of of the style is filled with tons of emotion and conviction that comes out of his drumming. I am looking forward to seeing more vids of his recent playing. Modern Drummer and DRUM magazine should do a piece on this guy and he should have a dvd or something. I want to see how he thinks.
@DylanElise You're welcome, thanks for your hard work on exercising so much!!! It obviously pays off and I'm enjoying it by watching RUclips movies on your drum solo's :-) Make some more!
Dylan: I salute you from Honduras, Central America. Man, your talent is simply extraordinary. What I most admire about your drumming is your creativity. You would do so well in a prog rock band. Do you have a band? If I could I'd mortgage my house to bring you here and start a band with you. I'm really impressed, congratulations.
lol love that bit at 1:20 were he chucks the sticks around and all of that spinning at 2:40 such a good drummer and only 16! keep up the good work this kid is so gunna be big later on
Hey Dylan man, you were at my school not too long ago. Western Springs College. Can't believe I actually got to have a go on your kit man haha its so wicked. You are by far one of the best drummer I know aye, up there with Virgil haha. Hey man you talked about being open to different styles of music aye... you should check out The Mars Volta, they have some real wicked drumming, they are a progressive band. Sweet keep up the brilliant work man.
im so sad cause i know ill never be as good as him(not even half as good.. i dont wanna down myself but its reality) wish u all the best man! u inspire me to be better!
Hey dude! I came to this whilst I was at school at bbi, I still have e your signed photo, you wished me luck! I hope we can play together now we are both pro musicians :) bless x
shit i tell you this guy,i've had ,lots of experience and know lots of drummers, and he is seriously one of the best.really-as in,top 5 in the whole world possibly
No kidding! i started playing 26 years ago and I can't do half the stuff this "kid" can do, and I'm not all that bad! I've recorded some pretty cool stuff, but he blows me away and I love it!
Hay Dylan. Wicked stuff man! Better in person of course but we cant have it all all the time can we? Keep up the good work and good luck in Auckland tomorrow. P.S. This is Ella form Tauranga by the way :D
Oh my josh! Dude, I'm going to be studying your vids. You are a new inspiration! You are one hell of a drummer man! You should be Ankla's drummer ahaha Again.. sick.
Yo "D" Its me Jay from Hamz... wicked solo'in boh... LOL but you know that... Nah man awesome... nice to see you reppin the kiwi drummers on youtube... Bro holla at me when you in town next... Ok man peace... Haha stop it with the feet work... remember my question at the clinic... haha JAY
@MikePostDrums As much as i hate to open up the possibility of being trolled, he's right. Have you even looked at some of his newer stuff? And before you ask, yes i do play drums.
Very cool! As Gene Krupa said, it's not about speed, but keeping a rhythm. Next question, what type of recording have you done with all that talent? Clearly a jazz flavor, but like Jimmy Gordon who played EVERY style before losing his mind, is there an album out or in the works?
Hey Dylan! For such a young age you play amazingly! How do you come up with such patience for practicing it all? You should apply for the MD contest. I'm now learning how to play a piano montuno with my right hand while rest of the limbs play songo on the drums. Annoyingly difficult, but I have around a month or so.
Wow if i saw this dude walking down the street in australia or new zealand i would have thought hes in some fob gang or something, but hes a pretty good drummer!
@MikePostDrums Except that's just it, he is one of the world's best drummer's. Maybe not at that level in this video, but in the more recent stuff he's legitimately amazing. Seriously, go listen to that stuff, and then tell me he's not one of the world's best drummer's.
@MikePostDrums No prob. Ditto to you. And question, do you play drums yourself? If not, it would explain. A lot of people don't realize that the hardest thing to do when playing drums is to come up with a good grove.
Hey Dylan, I'd really like to see you put out a training video of your hand rudiments. I'd love to see it up close and slowed down. Snare, toms, cowbells, no cymbals, no basses, just hands, no swirling. I just wanna see how you achieve that speed cause I can't do what U do, and I been playing drums since your parents were your age!!! Impressive bro
@MikePostDrums Im not sure if this will explain if you've seen the 2011 videos and don't understand /watch?v=U6Gl8HSZ4Tc His coordination is super human, and his fill speed is on par with Buddy Rich.
if he mastered the rumba clave in the left foot and be still be able to play salsa with that displaced clave, I would consider him to be the closest to what a perfect drummer could be for latin. Though, he's still quite amazing.
@MikePostDrums Yeah, I'm pretty sure Dylan can figure out how to play the Rosanna shuffle. Porcaro was a legendary session player with a great feel for a tune, but he wasn't all that and a bag of coke. I've seen him play up close and personal when I worked on a Toto video way back when. Tell you what...you find the most amazing Jeff Porcaro video and post it as a video response to any of Dylan's street festival vids and let viewers respond as to who is better. Go ahead critic, take the challenge.
He is with out a doubt, the best drummer in the world. I only wish Buddy could see him today. He would tell you himself. Absolutely amazing in every aspect of drumming. He has it all.
I have a only word, TERRIBLE!!!!!
i'm a drummer's son from turkey.
Thank you for all the wonderful comments people!!
:-)
Man ! Always watch your video both YT and FB ! And IG too amazing skills as always
This guy is unreal, The best of the best. I could watch and listen all day.

One of my favorite drummers of all time...
Haha hey man, unfortunately I wasn't born to play drums lol. This has all come from hard work! I had to be the most uncoordinated, most unrhythymical drummer when I started.

You are humble. I love watching your skills. ~ Professional Beginner here ……lol
Dylan Elise the greatest drummer alive today no doubt truly incredible nobody Beats him today no one
Incredible drummer. You are the best, Dylan!
Can you imagine being Dylan’s parents and hearing some of these sounds coming from their boy’s drum room when he first started getting his beats and style going?!?!?! Holy s*#!!!!!!!!!!!! Freakin amazing!
Hahaha unfortunately when I first started I was horrible haha but with practice and perseverance, things started to happen. Thanks Ryan!
DylanElise I was given a drum set by Mr. & Mrs. Clause 🎅🏻 when I was around 12 or so. I think shortly thereafter and for a few years later they were regretting my present lol 😂

I recall seeing this video a long while back and being in awe.

Hey, Dylan. I find it "so cool" the way you had your last name changed, from Rich, to Elise! Never Stop Playing! Buddy would be so Proud of you...
when dylan came to my school last year he got me hooked into drums, and now im in a band! thanks dylan =D
Ryan Simmons what is Dylan like in person?. If U don't mind me asking sorry?.....

One of the most diverse and Tight! drum solos I have ever heard!!! 5stars.

Amazing.. totally inspiring!
I think this is the best drum solo I've heard on my life! So fucking amazing!
@DylanElise i'm thinking of starting now. you have some of the most insane beats i've ever seen. as a performing pianist, i'm awe-inspired.
@DylanElise You're welcome, thanks for your hard work on exercising so much!!! It obviously pays off and I'm enjoying it by watching RUclips movies on your drum solo's :-)

@MikePostDrums As much as i hate to open up the possibility of being trolled, he's right. Have you even looked at some of his newer stuff? And before you ask, yes i do play drums.
i'm impressed by the one take nature of a festival performances but the huge natural reverb really makes it hard to hear the great technique on show
Very cool! As Gene Krupa said, it's not about speed, but keeping a rhythm. Next question, what type of recording have you done with all that talent? Clearly a jazz flavor, but like Jimmy Gordon who played EVERY style before losing his mind, is there an album out or in the works?
