I am from Sri Lanka. I am a fountain pen lover. But buying an ordinary pen like this or similar is a difficult dream for a poor Sri Lankan like me. It is hard to imagine a pen like this being bought in Sri Lanka, perhaps even in the city of Colombo for a hefty sum
Pens are luxury items at the end of the day, some people will unfortunately never see such things. I know from my perspective there are pens that I will also never be able to afford. But, you never know what the future holds :)
@@PenFriends You are right. But even though Sri Lanka imports everything, it has a high tax policy on all goods, especially goods imported from Europe. Sri Lankan politicians are being exploited and innocent citizens are suffering
Thanks again Andrew fir agreeing to review my Maiora Vesuvio. It was great hearing your opinions and I have to agree with your comments. There are a few minor details that need polishing off a bit better... and I also think an ebonite feed would be great addition. Many thanks for the review!
Great review, very informative and insightful. I've been eyeing it for some time but so far the images I had found on internet weren't quite enough to "understand" the pen... your review captures the pen both aesthetically and functionally, thanks.
It is a stunning pen and I may have a cure for the nib drying out :) a friend has 3D printed a part to act as an inner cap. If this works I’ll certainly be adding more of these to my collection I’m time.
@@PenFriends Good. While I figure out what direction I’d like to go with it, it’s slowly growing organically and that’s just fine by me. Meanwhile I enjoy all the many other more seasoned RUclipsrs like you and Alicia. 😁 Thank you for asking!
Did I hear limited edition of 888?? Hmmmm....Octogon ; Saturnists?! The work of the devil! But maybe I'm thinking too much into this. Excellent review. Nib to die for but the pen shape is off for me. Blessings.
Lovely pen. Seasonal colors. I like that “snowflake” on the nib. For my Christmas present to myself I just ordered this year’s special edition of the Platinum 3776 Century in the Shunkei series. One of my favorite retailers dropped the price almost $100, so I went for it.
It’s in the mail, and I’m not going to open it until Christmas, but I have last year’s Rokka in a fine nib. It’s smooth with a little bit of feedback. I have a story about the Rokka. There were only 2500 made and I got it for Christmas last year and took it along on a trip to New Zealand with a friend who was visiting her nephew’s family. To my surprise I discovered the 19-yr-old son is into fountain pens. I pulled out my Rokka to show him, and he pulled out his! What are the odds?! We bonded immedistely.
@@arlenealennox3136 What a beautiful story! Did he have a large collection? And I love writing with my Nakaya, it gives the perfect amount of feedback whilst also being smooth.

I love the pen overall and I feel if the points I address were fulfilled, this would make for one of the best pens ever.
@@PenFriends completely agree... im glad you liked it.

@@chrisbliss2034 I can see that the shape could deter sone people. Design elements are subjective, but the nib is fantastic!
@@PenFriends Indeedly, Mon Ami, I adore the classic cigar shape, but will tolerate flat ends if the pen is a vintage Onoto ! I know : I'm spoiled 😅.
Thank you for this review. I'm considering this pen...
Does it have a captured converter or can it be removed?
It can be removed :)
