Man this is the best video on how to change spark plugs PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS ON THIS CAR
My brother bought an Avenger brand new... think it was one of the last ones the dealer had right before the model was decommissioned, 'cos he got a hell of a deal on it. Anyway - he just hit 100,000 KM on it, and we were both trying to figure out if DIYing the spark plugs is worth it.
Bundy, your video proved our theory right - and earned you another subscriber. I'll be DIYing my brother's spark plugs side-by-side with the front brakes on my Honda Civic. Thanks for showing us how it's done. :)
+Dana Harripersad thanks for watching, glad it helped you out.
+BundysGarage - you're always welcome. I'll be watching further, for future vids of yours right beside EricTheCarGuy and ChrisFix's stuff. :)
I have a 09 Avenger still running great with over 230,000 miles on it!! Good luck with yours!
Old trick with rubber hose, very good advice.
Same with light coat of anti seize.
Always check gap on new plugs
I am here to tell you, this video is spot on, I used it to change the plugs in my 2008 Chrysler Sebring, his tips worked like a charm--the rubber hose trick was amazing--thanks a million, could not have done it without this video. I did make one small improvement: i believe, using the same rubber tube, i cut it to fit inside the spark plug socket, added an extension to the socket, stuck the plug into the tube in the socket--easy breezy--worked like a charm, straight in, no worry of cross thread.
+seth mabry an old timer mechanic showed me the hose trick and now I pass the torch onto you my young student 👨🎓😜
Took me forever to get the red part unlocked until I found your video. Thanks!
This video is awesome! The rubber hose trick is a life saver. It made it so easy to get the plugs out, and put the new ones in. I was worried about doing this myself because I have 160,000 miles on my original plugs. I got everything I needed for under $27, and have the socket, Dielectric grease, no-sieze, and magic rubber hose for next time.
Glad it helped you out!
Great tip using the plastic hose to thread the spark plug in. Very informative video
Thanks for the video it was . Accurate video .great job..six years later .but still yet thanks very helpful........
I keep a 3/8 hose on my tool box from now, thanks a million.
thanks for the info buddy it really helped...never thought about using a hose to start the plugs...👍👍
+Art Martinez you are welcome!
Thank you so much for this video. I needed this after 3 years with my car
You are welcome
Thank you for the great video. Allowed me to change plugs on my Compass with no hitches!! :-)
Wow, you made this seem so easy. I believe that I could do this myself. Thank you for all the great information. I recently bought a 14 Chrysler 200.
+Rickie Duerksen it's not hard at all. Just give yourself plenty of time and go slowly.
All Star video sir! I have a 2011 200 LX and this video was a gem! If you have magnetic sockets then you don't need the hose. Figuring ED3 or EDG was the only complication.
Seem like one of them more patient and well explaining videos I have seen yet thank you keep up the good work you're my first comment
Thanks for watching. Hope it helped you out.
Hey Great Video just what I needed to know about our 2013 Dodge Avenger Thank you
+MATT FASEL glad it helped you out
Nice and slow (great on how to) Thanks Hope to see more on Patriot
Even though I only tuned up my car once, I like to do a tune up every 40k miles to keep it running good.
I just want to say thank you we would make it look so easy I am pretty sure that I can do this too thank you guys
Great video! Thank you! Maybe add tools needed at the beginning of the videos. Would help a little
+FathomDrums good idea
Thanks BundysGarage, I appreciate this video.
You really don’t need anti seize on those shiny iridium plugs.
Neat tip with the rubber hose, I just use the socket.
Thanks, looks like a easy job now.
thanks, well done
+Byron Decuier thanks for watching

Now if I can just find a YT video for the muffler bearing replacement.
Thanks a lot for the video.
Hope it helped you out!
Thanks bc my child's father the mechanic won't change mine so ill do it myself and this looks super easy a shop wanted to charge me 70$ lol.. so what if there's oil can we still change the spark plug or do you have to change the O ring 1st?

I got a cyl 2 niss issue i replaced coil and plugs still no fix according to the computer i still have a cyl mis fire ay thoughts
My car just hit 140,000 my car is long over due. This is part of a tune up? Right? Including changing the air and cabin filter?
Correct.
Thank you !
Glad it helped you out!
Thanks for your insight you made it alit easier
I have a 2017dodge journey se 2.4 a/c in side makes soud like clicks
Why would you replace OEM NGK Laser (double platinums) with shorter life G-Power (single plat, nickel ground electrode)?
What brand of spark plugs are perfect in chrysler thank you in advance
How can you tell if the coil needs to be replaced?
Which one's the third coil I said the left for the right
Do you need the seelant & oil when doing this
Did you have to disconnect the battery first? Many vids I've watched say to disconnect it first , but as you know, the batteries in the 200s are a huge PITA to get too 😅
No you don’t need to disconnect the battery when doing the spark plugs. I only disconnect the battery when doing an alternator or a starter.
Thank you so much for your quick response!
How do I disconnect the negative battery connection without going behind the tire? Please respond asap I’m currently doing this.
You can’t. You have to go behind the tire. There is no hack to disconnect it. You don’t have to disconnect it to do the spark plugs.
@@bundysgarage thank you for responding so fast. Gotcha
Should I disconnect the negative battery first before changing coils and spark plugs?
You don't have too but if it gives you peace of mind, go for it.
Anti-seize can act as a lubricant, altering torque values up to 20 percent, increasing the risk of spark plug thread breakage and/or metal shell stretch. Thread breakage can sometimes involve removing the cylinder head for repair. Metal shell stretch changes the heat rating of the spark plug and can result in serious engine damage caused by pre-ignition. Do not use anti-seize or lubricant on NGK spark plugs. It is completely unnecessary and can be detrimental.
I’ve been doing this for over 35 years and have always put anti seize on NGK Denso AC Delco etc and have never had a problem. Where you run into problems is when someone does not know how to install them correctly.
@@bundysgarage ngksparkplugs.com/en/resources/5-things-you-should-know-about-spark-plugs
Yep don’t care. I’ve seen spark plugs stick in heads cause someone didn’t use anti-seize. Not to be a dick but if you want to take the risk go ahead and when it gets stuck you can pay someone like me to get it out for you.
great video thanks for sharing👍👍👏👏👏
Not really. If you cross tread it. You dont have to take the head off. They make a tool to retread the tread and comes with a insert so it will remain the same size for the spark plug to screw back on.
very good video
+Pgs Agency thank you
any other options to bring down the new spark plug without a black hose?
A long skinny magnetic
@@bundysgarage I'll give it a shot- appreciate it!
do you have a video how do the wires to spark plug?
Great help thank you
+Gary Ricketts Glad it helped you out.
Great video Thanks for posting. Do you also have to replace the coil when replacing the spark plugs?
No. Only replace the coil(s) if you are getting a misfire code.
and thats what you determine it to be
BundysGarage no it’s just my Avenger just hit 100k and im starting to feel a bit of rough idle. Plus I have to change the coolant and I have to change the transmission oil too. I bought the car at 64k miles and I’m not sure if the previous owner did any of this before i bought it. Other than that the car has been very loyal.
Do you know if a 2011 Chrysler 200 2.4 motor fit a 2014 Dodge Journey se
I have no idea. Call up a Chrysler dealership and talk to their service manager.
the ignition system is not designed for platnum plugs.
It is if it's a PZEV engine. I believe all of the 2.4L engines sold in CA were certified PZEV.
great video, thank you
+ty lawrence hope it helped you out. Subscribe if you can, it really helps me out.
I will, the tip about the 3/8 hose to hold the spark plugs was gold. Thanks again.
What's the firing order?
what would the gap be on ones that are not pregaped
Hey bud great video could you please tell me what side coil 1 is I assume left while facing the front of the car I just want to be sure! Thank you!
Coil 1 is on the left looking at the engine
Hello. I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger SE 2.4L AT and I need yo replace my transmission. What other car brands/models use the same trans? So I can go to a junk yard and get one. Thanks in advance.
Go to Rockauto.com look up trans for your year make and model. Once you find it go to the far left of the listing and click on the part number and it will show you all the vehicles that trans fits into. It works best if you are on a desktop.
BundysGarage thanks, will check it now... Quick question: What do you think about going to a junk yard and buy the transmission for a $200 ? Thanks
Thanks bro
You are welcome. Hope it helps you out!
Plug gap?
What do u do if the coil thing won’t go down
See what’s blocking it? Is the spark plug all the way down? Sometimes air gets caught in the boot and you have to push a little harder.
Great video!! Bundy, I got a problem if you can help me out please. Ignition coil 3 (from the left) burnt out a second time on me. Any ideas what might of caused it. Wiring maybe?
+Kekane Wells where are you buying the coil pack from?
Did this solve your customers idling issue?
What brand of spark plugs are recpmmended for 2013 chrysler 200?
+Alfonso Charles im not sure, you could akways call a Chrysler dealershio and ask parts.
Dodge uses mopar
Had to use a straw to pull the spark plugs out the socket it wouldn’t stick to the 3/8 lmao
The piece of hose you use to put in the spark plug is not 4 inches long, it is probably 8 inches.
Which one is cylinder 4??? Plz reply

+Cesar Graciano 👍
Great video.. appreciate the help!
Why is it none of you monkey jockeys know what the torque specs are for the spark plugs?
