Ben Belkin, founder/creator of Jack Wolf Knives, joins Bob "The Knife Junkie" DeMarco on Episode 444 of The Knife Junkie Podcast (theknifejunkie.com/444).
Ben got his first knife from his grandfather, after whom he’d later name his knife company, Jack Wolf Knives. Ben’s design philosophy is not to reinvent the wheel, rather deliver an awesome and enhanced wheel.
He showed off prototypes of the Jack Wolf Knives starting lineup at Blade Show 2021, less than a year later, he officially launched the wide sale of his knives. With the Gunslinger Jack, his first locking knife, Ben embarked on the second pass of the Jack Wolf Knives lineup, utilizing familiar profiles for reinterpretation.
Each Jack Wolf knife comes in elaborate packaging-Ben teamed up with an acclaimed comic book artist to create characters around each knife. Since his first release, the Sharpshooter Jack, Ben has expanded the roster of JWK authorized dealers to 33 and counting.

Great interview. Want to get at least one of his designs into my collection. I’m sure it won’t be just one 😂

Hey Bob, I am looking at one of your videos for the the first time in almost three years. I am done with nursinig school in December, and I have been able to maintain my discipline about not looking at knives in that time, but now that I am almost done I am salivating at the idea of purchasing a knife(s). How fortuitious that I am commenting on this Jack Wolf video, because this is exactly one knife(s) I want to purchase. I would like your opinion on what is the best way to obtain one. I do have preferences towards blade shapes, but honestly his website has many good designs I don't really care. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Now on a side note you cannot count my
Randall Made Knives order, because I have to wait 5 more years for that knife, another knife brand I am intently wanting to revisit is TKell Knives. Oh Bob, it feels good to be back viewing your video again!

1:00:25 auto?! Nah…. OTF for that one! Either way my state wouldn’t allow me to do much other than glance at it in my house 😢

Awesome episode! I will say that the Boker Kalashnikov is made in Tiawan... how is that imported? I'm genuinely asking! Love this content and Jack Wolf Knives!

Asian heat treatment protocols are not usually good be it Taiwan or China. USA heat treatment is usually fairly low in hardness but have better microstructure from their protocol's, depending on the factory. Overall very few companies focus on anything good for knives.

I love my Jack wolf knives but I would like to see more affordable prices. I’m not a collector, I’m a straight up user. Every time I buy a new Jack wolf I get rid of an older knife from a different maker but it’s not easy spending $300 for a knife I am definitely going to use. Give me something in s35v with g10 liners or handles and I’ll gladly pay $150 for Jack wolf quality knives with those materials all day.

I will only say that Reate uses secondary hardening for m390. Which has been proven in cut testing to be better than all mass production m390 other than Spyderco USA factory made knives. Were talking at least double or triple the performance of most m390.
He recently switched away from Reate, so be very careful if he uses m390 and prices being that high. It won't be worth it. Spyderco USA s90v is 62rc and the new jack wolfs are 59 to 61. But we dont know who makes them or how reliable they will be in hitting that target or the protocol they use. Spyderco Taiwan s90v maxes out at 59rc and it does better than most m390 on the market. So that's a plus if... Jack wolfs in s90v use a similar protocol.
S35vn is probably going to be under done by almost all of Asia. There are very few hitting 61 or using a good protocol for users.
      I would recommend 14c28n
