They use birth records, school enrollments and the census to get a sense of the population but only the US tracks race this diligently.
Race is not tracked in Canada and many other developed countries because it's decisive to focus on it so broadly.
The US is proof why you shouldn't track race, you only need to track age, gender and economic statue to be able to allocate resources and target poverty.
Race should only come into play in narrowed observations ie for policing and the number of prison inmates but only as a measure as to the success or failure of external social programs even then more toward geography to ID problem area's.

I think the white population is declining because of a desire to have careers first, and then a family later. By the time they are ready for a family, they are approaching old age, and only end up with 1 child. Then you have the intermarriages with asians, blacks, latins, indians, native americans, same sex marriages, abortions, birth control, that all help to reduce the white population. But not just whites, other races too have always been affected by it, its just now the awareness for whites has been pushed to the forfront, despite ignoring that its been happening to others races for much longer and no one said anything. @@jorelletaylor5408 You do realize that the US census has become more diverse as the years go by. 20 you have Hispanic, Arab, North African, Egyptian, Moroccan, Persian, South Asian, Slavic, and even Irish listed as "White" on the census going back 30-40 years. The 2020 census (most recent) was so diversified that Middle Eastern and North African were broken out as separate categories. Non-White Hispanic and Hispanic and Lation (of any race) was broken out. Asian is now its own category, where before South East Asian was listed under White.
So all this means is there are alot more diverse blocks to check instead of White which people are doing which makes it look like the White population in America is declining but it is not at all.
