My husband and I were sitting in our chairs watching the news and it was bogging down our mood. I told my husband I was going to watch something uplifting while I stitched and he read. And I pulled out my computer and went right to your video! I know that I will always feel more hopeful, lighter, and more inspired when I watch you. And now I do! And, bonus, I finished Gather Here by Liz Mathews while watching your video. I changed it from monochromatic to fall colors, and I love it. My thumbs up from this episode are that green yarn and those little wooden boxes Anna found! I have a spring jacket that color of green and it has navy trim. So cheery to wear after a long winter like we have in NE. Happy, relaxing stitching, knitting, crocheting and all the crafting. Thanks for being my "mood enhancers". :}
Great video, ladies, and I very much enjoyed seeing all the projects that you've been working on. Carolyn, your afghan is so pretty. Anna, your wips are looking magnificent.
Good morning ladies - I’m just finding time to catch up with you. I so enjoy seeing what you’re working on. I use the color catchers when I wash most of my quilts - especially if I have red fabrics in them. Red’s are notorious for running so I’m always really worried about my quilts turning pink. 😅. Also, IMHO, don’t forget when/if using spray starch like best press, they also contain water and therefore can leave water marks on any of the over-dyed fabrics. And steam from an iron too can cause water marks on over-dyed linens. 😊. I would write more but I’m off to my hair cut too! 😊
Anna, I have to say I love your top today. Oh yes Caroline I always have grand ideas about things and having them ready for "the occasion". Don't ask if I get them ready on time. 🤣
Thanks for your work on the 'bleeding' fabric. Reds and blues are particular culprits. NOTE: Vendors of such fabrics do their best to clear the dye from their fabrics, but with those 2 colours -- there's no guarantee. I've had an experience where I pre-washed a red quilt backing fabric before using it -- and it still bled into some of the whites on the front of the quilt! So...with reds and blues (especially deep blues) be aware and be cautious!
I am new to your fliss tube this is the second one I have watch zi love the conversation and the support that you show one and other and maybe because your both teachers I feel like I am learning things from you two. I want come and take classes, in knitting and cross. I am a crafter of both but I know I could learn lot from the both of you
Great video... Anna would loved to have been at that concert. I was in San Fran once and we crossed over the GG Bridge there was an over look there with a gentleman playing a piano which was on the back of a truck. It was the coolest thing. Carolyn you're going to rock in those green sneaks! See you in 14!
You two are a hoot! I always enjoy your videos and look forward to the next one. I appreciate you mentioning local events and places because I am local, in the Sacramento Valley.
Thank you for sharing everything! I love the green yarn you chose. I love knitting with that, I put it on with a DK yarn when I’m making fingerless mittens or mittens. Kees the hands very warm.
I think the green sneakers are great with that print. I am lucky…my brother does Habitat for Humanity work…when they put in oak railings, they trim off the extra and plan to throw it away. My brother nabs these ends because it is the correct wood for a clapper…I have varying lengths and flatter seams. I do think the crease from being on the original bolt is really hard to get rid of because fabric has memory like an elephant. 🦉🧵🪡🍁🍂🐦⬛
Such lovely company for my Friday afternoon. I worked on Away We Ride by Blackbird Designs. Loved all the stitching progress. Carolyn, I am a big fan of Attic 24 and have completed several of her afghans. Take care, my friends.
Knitting for Olive is hot hot hot right now. Gorgeous yarn in great colours. I've done a couple of sweaters knitted top down with a set in sleeve. Regina Moessmer's Waiting for Indian Summer was the first for me. It fits so well on my also rather broad shoulders. I finished it in 2020.
Great projects, ladies! Love the green sneakers! The afghan is beautiful! Don't feel bad about not stitching the whole sampler, Anna. I have abandoned quilts too, or changed the pattern. Also have changed things on my x-stitch. I think it's all part of the process. After all, the pattern is just a suggestion! 😊 We don't have oak trees in Montana, at least not where I live. I was an adult before I saw my first acorn! Caroline you must live in a mid century house, at least it appears that way from the wall behind you when you film. Love that architecture. Thanks ladies, it was a great visit!
I was pleased you mentioned my finger use of vinegar, I have found this works well. I do watch a lot of floss tube and just recently noticed that some crafters as we are, do change about what we like to stitch during our journey threw our crafts. Our tastes change. So this is what will be in my mind while choosing charts from now on. I just received two books you might be interested in Mosaic Crochet workshop by Esme Crick and Mosaic Chart Directory for Knitting + Crochet by Anna Nikipirowicz. This is how my first steps into colorwork that I'm doing for the first time. Color work scares me, so I'm trying mosaic charting.
Thanks for the new episode! Beautiful projects & inspiration. Anna, give yourself more credit, your not slow because it's 56 count. It is because there is x 1.5 as many stitches! Of course it's going to take longer. But OH how beautiful it is!!! Thanks for sharing
Great video, ladies! I totally understand Anna’s feelings about not needing to finish the Smith Sampler. That’s a lot os stitching for something you don’t feel excited about. I did the same with a Teresa Kogut piece Land That I Love. I will only stitch the top band and call it good. Carolyn, sorry to hear you are in a bit of a stitching slump; hope you get your stitching bug back. I love the green sneakers, but agree it’s not the right shade for the dress. If you can’t find the right green, would you consider a contrasting color like a beautiful pink?
I’m not a project bag girly…I’d rather spend alll my money on supplies and charts, so a simple Amazon bag for me! But I have lugged SO many times about that tiny project bag over the last few weeks!!!🤣🤣🤣. Love it!
Anna, instead of A Present For A Friend, you could simply put your last name and the year stitched. This would make it memorable for your children so that maybe they’ll keep it after you’re gone ❤
That'sOk- no better than OK.Just a note on Flatter - it actually relaxes the fibers, a completely different process than other products. Do you know a quilter you can borrow from? The crochet is lovely - a good change of pace for me too and I love Attic 24,made the Hydrangea blanket and yummy! Enjoy those acorns.hugs
Love the green wool ! You couldn’t get a more perfect match! I think the shoes will be fine Sometimes a different shade breaks the look Fruity knitting does an interview with the lady who does this wool Nit sure what number but if your interested I’m sure you can just put the name of the wool in About your hair just wondered if you can make an appoint before you leave As an ex hairdresser my customers used to book in advance We get used to the same stylist & it can be hard to find another I’m in that situation as my hairdresser gave up & im still looking Cutting it yourself is no fun As usual great projects & flosstube! Looking forward to seeing your wedding outfits
It was very fine and more than ok 😉🩵 I have found that i enjoy stitching on higher and lower counts, 32, 35, 40, 46. It just depends on the project and what size i want the final item to be. However, for reproduction samplers it is usually 40 or 46ct. I used to have stitching slumps, when life got really busy. But, haven’t had one in years, knock on wood. (Not since all 3 of my daughters left the nest and have left me fully to my own devices 😄) I agree with Anna that the green color of the sneakers is close enough. Will need a photo from the wedding of both of you!
I think I'm headed in the same direction in terms of enjoying many stitch counts, Tricia. I just purchased a piece of 46ct to give it a go! We'll do our best to get a Curious Crafters photo with Carolyn's green sneakers and my rust velvet booties - we're so excited! Happy Crafting! -Anna
It is always such a happy time when I watch your flosstube. It was a pleasure seeing you last week on zoom.

Yes to the vinegar. Vinegar also helps with blood stains. I enjoy learning about more than cross stitch. Sisters are fantastic, and I miss mine.

A great white pumpkin chart for Anna would be An Autumn wish by Cherry Hill Stitchery. Lovely to stitch along to your chatter today ladies.
Thanks for the chart idea! I like the way the pumpkin is sitting on a cluster of foliage. Happy Crafting, Sarah! -Anna

Thanks for the pep talk! I truly am slower on 56 count. It takes me longer to count over threads. Happy Crafting! -Anna
Betsey Fisk, aka Jolly Rancher, sampler. The bottom row looks like candy. Gorgeous yarn for your green cardigan Carolyn. Enjoy fall ladies.
Haha! Now I will think of you every time I look at the Jolly Ranchers! -Anna
Nice crafting!

Gosh, I know Ernie’s Liqueurs, I grew up in Barron Park, so funny to hear local areas! Great video! Your projects are always so beautiful.
Well that's hilarious! All the kids in a neighborhood know a liquor store because of the candy! Happy Crafting, Melinda! -Anna

I would make the piece you are not interested in anymore into a tall drum it would be lovely.
