A 24HR NUGGET | is a short trip worth it?

- Is going away for just 24 hours worth it? Absolutely. A few days before, a friend told us about a scenic Alpine narrow gauge train operating between Domodossola (Itay) and Locarno (Switzerland). We already knew of a place to park up for the night from a previous trip, so on the Friday morning Jo said “shall we go away tonight?”, “we could take the kids on the train ride…?”. “Let’s do it!”.
We are Jordan, Jo, Holly, Izzy and Poppy, the calicamperfamily. Our current van is a 2022 Ford Nugget Plus. It is a 5 seater and sleeps all 5 of us too. We are British and live and work permanently in Northern Italy alongside Lago Maggiore.

Hi all! Share 24hours with us as we take our campervan to a rainy Alps for the night and jump on a scenic railway. The Nugget performed well for the family, as usual and we enjoyed every minute of our 24hours away. Aren’t campervans great!? Thanks guys…! Yes, it is frightening how fast they are growing and changing…although it is a fantastic thing that we have the memories created and saved through our channel. As a family, we love seeing older episodes; it’s like a diary of their growing up/childhood. Certainly makes me feel old too! Thanks for watching 👍

Sometimes the really short trips are the best! Minimal prep, and a mini-adventure. Perfect. Plus often closer to home so less time driving and more exploring.

Glad you enjoy watching our channel! I’m shocked at how quickly she has changed over the last 6 months or so. From a child to a (sassy!) young lady in no time. Yes, an awkward silences is usually what follows after a dad joke too!

Campervans are brilliant! Most of our trips are pre planned (of which there are many) with the occasional spontaneous trip but work gets in the way sometimes!
…work definitely gets in the way! Fairly often, I use ours for sleeping in either just before or just after early/late shifts…makes antisocial hours much more enjoyable and I can get guaranteed rest too. Great to hear from you Richard 👍🏻

Hi Joanne. The fly screens on our Nugget Plus (the blue van) were ordered from new and are hence Westfalia items. On our previous Nugget (the grey one) I made my own fly screens from magnetic curtains bought from a DIY store…or you could adapt something off Amazon. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
