Disclaimer: This is the tier list after one playthrought of all campaigns. Obviously I played with some of the units more than with the others so the tiers for some of them might be different on my next playthrough, but generally this is how I feel right now after doing 49 campaign missions on titan.
Yeah, it's pretty hard to get them right after one playthrough. So many new mechanics though, that's so cool! But it turns out that when playing against people, Anubites and Serpents for example are what makes Set and Isis so strong (Set is easily at leasst top 2, if not top 1). They're extremely powerful, as Anubites level up through the ages and can attack backline / villagers and Serpents can win basically any fight, especially early or in water - and are repeatable.
I agree plus I always have too much wood so might as well use it up on collateral units. I usually use them in the front to die on purpose or I send them to counter villagers while the actual Army attacks.

I'm sure there are more but I noticed these ones so far. edit: Good luck on the new challenge

I think the chimaera is one of the most cost-efficient myth units in the game (the other one is the fire giant). No utility or smart tactics just raw strenght. Nice damage, nice damage, nice armors. I always considered it's similar to the avenger but even better.
Iirc, there even is an ability called "amphibious" in the game's code. Karkinos would be perfect to be amphibious, having the insane splash damage aswell. On this tangent, honestly surprised they didn't make the war turtle an actual sea turtle, cuz right now it's iirc a genus that goes both to land and water.
THANK YOU fo including gameplay of the units. There are SOOOOOOO many tierlists, not even specifically AoMr, just in general that do the tier lists, with a voice over. So lame, bland, and boring. THANK YOU for the quality!!!
Yeah will def try to build more Chimeras, didn't get to play around with them as much because I have an aversion towards them from the first game hahahah
With Roc you can just select units you want to transport and click on him to embark even when he is in the air and he will land automaticaly, then just move him and he will fly up on his own. same for dissembark, just click on that button and he will land on the landing site on his own. You dont have to manualy land him at all.
Ok fair, but it's still a lot more work than it used to be. Or rather it takes longer. It was much cooler when you could just click on a Roc like you would on a StarCraft medivac and people would just freely enter and exit.
Honestly it feels like you didn't understand some of the Units .. The Neidre (Sharkrider) is a water myth killer, she used to oneshot every water myth, but haven't tested her in retold. The Lampade is the unly one with insta kill since she can, after upgrade, turn enemys into chickens. The Dryade also recived an later noticeable buff, the more of the trees you have the more of these non pop myths u can have, wich makes it possible to attack the enemy with like 15-20 of these on one site while your main army is on an other side.
I have no idea which version that was which I played, but for sure it had to be paid for and for sure it really pissed me off hahahah The mummy might have gotten a buff, but it also lost its instakill :-(
Yeah the fenris pack buff isnt as meaty as it was before, but on the other hand they do move faster out of the box (maybe end up a roughly the same speed with a full pack, but means losing some doesnt handicap the survivors as much), and are more beefy indeed especially against pierce damage. They are still goddamn pirhanas once in a group against archers or villagers, and able to outrun anything they cant outfight. That, and now they cost food, which is far easier to procure than gold in the lategame they are a part of, meaning spamming/replacing them way easier and less costy, which may be their biggest buff. I think they could still use a SMALL buff somewhere (they are a myth age unit goddammit!), but I think they are in a much better place than they used to.
Agree with you, as a myth age unit they should get at least a little buff. I'll say that they are a bit more legit to play since they don't die this easily anymore.
@@AmonsChallenges i guess they gotta be cautious with it though since they are both so mobile and cheap to acquire (just a bit more food than an Anubite, who are the poster child of a spammable myth unit, and that food will be available easily since by the myth age you likely already have plenty of farms set up for infinite food). If they got a little too strong I could see them being impossible to deal with in a hands of a skilled player :p Still, I think I would really like them to not be completely out of place in a frontal attack with an army behind them Oh and for extra fun... Mix a group of 8 of them or so with 4 Valkyries if you play as Thor. Valkyries are almost as fast when fully upgraded, and allows the wolves to heal after every raid. That creates a small, nightmarish force for the enemy to deal with that can harass the enemy with very little downtime, and can delete caravans in the blink of an eye while being strong enough to safely deal with small response forces that lack strong heroes (priests are puppy chow) Overall though, Tyr as a whole needs some help. His god power is meh for the tier (kills a few villagers while other powers delete bases), his myth unit only fits in one niche, and his upgrades... Well the huskarl one is nice, the berserk one though is a pale shadow of its former self
As a gaia enjoyer i am gonna have to channel my inner 🤓 to say: Caladrias do in fact heal continuosly, they have the burst heal ability on a cooldown and the continuous heal which they can use at any other point without cooldown.
Hmmm... They have 2 heals? Interesting... Also didn't expect that one tbh. I'm still ok with her being in A tier tho, it's a support unit. A strong as heck support unit, but a support unit nonetheless
@@AmonsChallenges yeah, ive personally been loving using them, very powerful support, problem is that they do leave you fairly defenseless in the second age if you go for them but still, solid unit, A tier is good for em
There may have been multiple changes to the egg in the original then (maybe when titans or extended edition came out), but I am 100% sure that they had to be paid for at some point (and at full price) and it really pissed me off hahaha
Really? I genuinely didn't feel like the titan was that weak that it can lose to a group of those guys. Or that fire giants are that strong that they can take down a titan. Not even sure which one it is hahahah
He is a hero (literally says hero next to his portrait), but would definitely give him an S, I think he even got a buff from the base game and you can even recast the ability to make more of them. So OP tbh
I think automatons got over-nerfed between Extended edition and Retold- they lost 20% hack armor, so they just fold against decent melee units, and especially melee myth units. Back in the day, I'd often make automatons my frontline, backed up with Termas. That doesn't work now that they have less armor than an unupgraded Murmillo.
In the middle of my first play through on hard difficultybut still with the most things i agree here expect the manticore and the anubite. And some others wich i will soon add here when i remmber what units
True enough, but it does say hero in brackets next to his name so I didn't put him here. Would have definitely been an S tier, I kinda think he was even buffed. Not to mention that you can recast the ability to spawn him hahaha
The roc automatically lands when you click on it to garrison units, and takes off the second you tell it to go to a destination, feels misleading to act like it's this big micro nightmare
Bruh putting Walking Woods in B is crazy. Walking Woods is crazy when it comes to building damage. Watch any pro-play of Retold that use Norse Gods. They will all use Walking Woods to attack Town Centers and Fortresses because the numbers+damage does insane work against buildings.
Didn't check their building damage tbh, didn't expect them to have any hahahaha But this is a spawnable unit so I'm kinda hasitant to give it anything more than a B plus they got nerfed in the last patch so there's that
Haven't tried that strat but I will say something I didn't mention in the video and I think I should have - heals stack now... Which does make healers a whole lot more powerful now. And I didn't consider that one when I was ranking the healers
@@AmonsChallenges I give berserkers life leech and build them in bulks, I assign valkyries in big numbers too and put them only on healing duties, berserkers will never die, tank like crazy and destroy everything on their path, its insane and you barely lose units if u do.
I was with you until you put automatons at D tier. I personally don’t use them but if you put a bunch of them together, have the ability that allows your myth units to heal, and plant down the Hesperides tree they’re almost unkillable.
Medusas are more powerful than ever actually. They have 21 range, a powerful range attack, they one shot human units from 21 meters away with their special, and they destroy buildings faster than anything. Clearly the best archer of the game both in dps, range, speed. They destroy both armies and buildings. Just 10 of the is a free win
Hey! Medusa's are S Tier by far. Sniping Critical Myth Units is absolutely fantastic and you gave them an F grade? Haha. They actually are superb, Just 10 Medusa's is enough to cut the enemy forces in half.
Medusas WERE S tier by far. You can't snipe critical myth units anymore. You can damage them a little and turn them into stone for a few seconds, but her special ability doesn't deal more than like 100-200 damage :(
@@AmonsChallenges I just witnessed 5 Medusa's turn 5 Minotaurs into Stone. And those same Medusa's Wipes out an army with help from Manticores, Minotaurs, Hoplites, Toxotes and Heroes.
I would honestly swap Medusa and koloss. Especially since the Kolossus feels incredibly weak for some strange reason, can't even defeat 3 hoplites and a hippokon. At least the Medusa can 1 shot regular units and stun myth units, which is enough when you deal with multiple.
Yeah, but the colossus is a supertank who can heal mid combat. True that he does feel a bit weaker than in the original tho. But medusa is just too much of disappointment with the removed instakill on myth units that I just can't bring myself to give her more than a D hahaha
@@AmonsChallenges Even the healing is not that great, in the 2nd to last mission I lost a Gold Colossus to 3 hoplites and 1 hippokon, while he was trying to heal himself on a tree. I managed to start eating the 3rd tree before he just died because the damage of the regular units was faster than the healing rate. And my brother complained about how 3 gold colossi are not strong enough to deal with a handful of hoplites. The Medusa also has ranged attack, which makes her automatically much better against anything that isn't anti-range. But the balancing of the other units is also really weird, Herse heroes are weaker than I remember, 8 of them can't even beat 2 frost giants and 1 mountain giant.
@@XXLPIakat I'm pretty sure they will fix the balancing at some point for a bunch of these units. The game just came out, I'm sure the next patch is gonna make things at least a bit better
I just started Norse campaign.. I know they didn't change much with Valkyrie but my god, are they just squishy jokes now. I know the point was never to frontline them, but you figure you can get at least a couple fights out of 2-3 of them early enough in the age... aaaaand no, no you cant, like at all, lol. Have 3-4 of them turned on no attack and micro manage every 10 sec so they stay away. They feel way weaker to me in this game...
@@AmonsChallenges looking back, I guess some myth units always were weaker than the others, age and cost taken into account, but removing instakill ability just rubs me the wrong way. It's what offset the otherwise not so great lategame units (Medusa is so bad without its signature move)

On this tangent, honestly surprised they didn't make the war turtle an actual sea turtle, cuz right now it's iirc a genus that goes both to land and water.
Keep making the tierlist of all the dolls, it looks really good
Thx :-)
I did discover (the hard way) that Carcinos absolutely eats Scylla
To be fair, Scylla with 1 head
Great video!!! Very entertaining and useful (I haven't bought the game) hahaha Keep it up
Thanks, appreciate it!
THANK YOU fo including gameplay of the units. There are SOOOOOOO many tierlists, not even specifically AoMr, just in general that do the tier lists, with a voice over. So lame, bland, and boring. THANK YOU for the quality!!!
Really appreciate the compliment
nereids worth another point for coolness. shark riding is one of the coolest stupidities I've ever heard.
You are not wrong my friend
You are definitely not wrong hahaha
Great tier list, I'd suggest trying out a Chimera build tho, the aoe is kinda insane with a few of them, I expected them to be A tier
It was much cooler when you could just click on a Roc like you would on a StarCraft medivac and people would just freely enter and exit.
the Sphinx feel way less tankier than in the original. I was amazed everytime how quickly they die
Yeah I tried spamming sphinxes in the first few Egyptian missions and they just got wrecked, even with all their upgrades
Anubite in C, that much power for 100 food, in C
Mummy in C, a unit that basically disables human units from fighting you or they'll convert them
Yeah anubite is 100 food, but the favor cost man... That one gets me
I did make a mistake with the mummy, should have put her higher
Best nice to see a tier list of everything from s
I agree automatons are kind of underwhelming but you should of factored in their death sound, its awesome
You know what... You might be onto something :D
Cyclops now area damages with his base attack. That's a change :)
You know what... I haven't noticed that, but I guess it does make sense since it has such a huge club hahaha
Sorry to double comment but if you multicast the dryad tree you get an additional five dryads per cast
22:18 do you know that 3 Automatons can easily kill a Collosus? Sleep with that info now
Lol
I don't think I will ever be able to sleep again with that info lmao
@@AmonsChallenges 🤣🤣🤣
Medusa is op can transform almost everything in stone.
Yeah, unfortunately, units with more than like 100 HP can transform back :(
The turn to stone is stackable so while it is heavily nerf a group of 3 Medusa can stun large armies
In regards to the Phoenix egg thing I've never once had to pay to hatch my Phoenix egg in the Legacy game as well as the Titans DLC
Also the mummy got a huge buff compared to Legacy
I have no idea which version that was which I played, but for sure it had to be paid for and for sure it really pissed me off hahahah
The mummy might have gotten a buff, but it also lost its instakill :-(
26:40 A FLYING CTHULU GUY USING A SHIV IS MAD.
Yeah, I have no idea what they were thinking with that one tbh :-)
I mean Nidhogg always sucked. I hope that in this he does not suck even more :(
its better, the Dive does divine damage now!
If they got a little too strong I could see them being impossible to deal with in a hands of a skilled player :p
Still, I think I would really like them to not be completely out of place in a frontal attack with an army behind them
Oh and for extra fun... Mix a group of 8 of them or so with 4 Valkyries if you play as Thor. Valkyries are almost as fast when fully upgraded, and allows the wolves to heal after every raid. That creates a small, nightmarish force for the enemy to deal with that can harass the enemy with very little downtime, and can delete caravans in the blink of an eye while being strong enough to safely deal with small response forces that lack strong heroes (priests are puppy chow)
Overall though, Tyr as a whole needs some help. His god power is meh for the tier (kills a few villagers while other powers delete bases), his myth unit only fits in one niche, and his upgrades... Well the huskarl one is nice, the berserk one though is a pale shadow of its former self
This guy isn't even joking 😂🤣😎.
This game looks interesting
As a gaia enjoyer i am gonna have to channel my inner 🤓 to say:
Caladrias do in fact heal continuosly, they have the burst heal ability on a cooldown and the continuous heal which they can use at any other point without cooldown.
In the original game phoenix drops an egg upon death every time and you dont have to pay for it. So he is nerfed in retold.
There may have been multiple changes to the egg in the original then (maybe when titans or extended edition came out), but I am 100% sure that they had to be paid for at some point (and at full price) and it really pissed me off hahaha
@@AmonsChallenges I thing in titans they chaneged it.
Well..if colossus appear it's pretty much game over for me
Ok i really have to say this a group of fire giants are able to take down a titan
Really? I genuinely didn't feel like the titan was that weak that it can lose to a group of those guys. Or that fire giants are that strong that they can take down a titan. Not even sure which one it is hahahah
Maybe I missed it but I don't see Son of Osiris in the tier list. I wonder where he would rank?
He is a hero (literally says hero next to his portrait), but would definitely give him an S, I think he even got a buff from the base game and you can even recast the ability to make more of them. So OP tbh
I think automatons got over-nerfed between Extended edition and Retold- they lost 20% hack armor, so they just fold against decent melee units, and especially melee myth units. Back in the day, I'd often make automatons my frontline, backed up with Termas. That doesn't work now that they have less armor than an unupgraded Murmillo.
Yeah, the Chimera is underwhelming, but it comes with one of the best god powers and more archer upgrades for your Hades build.
True true
A decent compensation ineed :D
sounds like kael thas (blood mage) from warcraft 3 ult abilty tbh
Ahh yes the wood person ….*cough* dryad.
In the middle of my first play through on hard difficultybut still with the most things i agree here expect the manticore and the anubite. And some others wich i will soon add here when i remmber what units
sphinx shouldve been d tier now, changing to gold really suck especially for ch18
Yeah, the change sux, but it's still cool to have a relatively tanky guy with area of effect damage on tier 2
I defiently disagree with alot of this list, mostly because i think all units have some sort of niche they fill (Expect Carcinos that guy is just bad)
interesting! I always perceived the Son of Osiris as a mythological unit
I mean sure, but I really liked how it previously played like. Yeah, this one is more balanced but still...
Didn't check their building damage tbh, didn't expect them to have any hahahaha
But this is a spawnable unit so I'm kinda hasitant to give it anything more than a B plus they got nerfed in the last patch so there's that
Valkyrie on b tier is criminal, u build berserkers with valkyries and the berserkers are pretty much immortal
@@zerohour980 Interesting strat tbh
Sounds really cool hahah
Zeus Minotaur with worshipping Hera is OP af not gonna lie lol
Def man, had a few really cool multiplayer games that just ended at the 10 min mark with me having a bunch of minotaurs that crushed the enemy
Hypocampus S tier❤😊
♥
I was with you until you put automatons at D tier. I personally don’t use them but if you put a bunch of them together, have the ability that allows your myth units to heal, and plant down the Hesperides tree they’re almost unkillable.
Lampades look worse than unupgraded infantry unit
Heka gigantes unit is overpowered
So so overpowered man
Me and Laser crocs army in OG verison win everything or the firepohenix
The good old days lmao
@@simounobrien9096 I'm a simple man, I just wanna turn a hydra or colossus into stone in one shot... I'm not asking for much :D
100% agree!
it would be better if you showed the stats of the units first.
They really fucked up with the mummies and medusae..
Buff Medusas, Crab boys, and Chimeras
Nerf Nemean lions when theyre in groups 😅
So do the opposite of the Norse wolves power hahaha
Whoa minotaurs better than cyclops now? I never need pick ares again then
Basically hahaha
Very, very strange list. :D
I'm a very strange guy so it works with my theme :D
Medusa Can turn into stone myth units
Yeah, but they break free after a while, in the original they instantly died :-(
I think mancikor deserve a a place there special platters arms much better then in the old game
The Roc is so clunky. I hope they fix it
a Meusa can kill a colossus xD
Just not instantly... I saw somebody say that a group of 3 hoplites can kill a colossus so that wouldn't surprise me tho hahahaha
Why are age 2 Greek units so much better then age 4 Greek units??? Like, HELLO???
Weren't they supposed to balance the game?
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt since the game did just come out, so I really wanna see if they change some things up in the next patch
@@AmonsChallenges looking back, I guess some myth units always were weaker than the others, age and cost taken into account, but removing instakill ability just rubs me the wrong way. It's what offset the otherwise not so great lategame units (Medusa is so bad without its signature move)
@@Vario69 You are 100% right, some myth units really are better than others and taking the Medusa instakill away really make me feel like she is is send to the field to fight naked (and not in a good way btw :D)
Mis pobres egipcios 😢 . Que injusto
« for some reason they removed a lot of insta killed in this game » Tell me you don’t play competitive multiplayer without telling me
Hahahaha yeah, I know it makes sense balancewise, but would have loved still having them in the campaign :)

RETOLD DEATHLESS LET'S GOOO
Great list! The nerfs sure suck (Medusa and Argus), but I am happy with how the game overall rebalanced things. If I may give an idea... God Power tierlist. Would love that.
Yeah, balancewise the changes are definitely awesome, but would have loved the instakills to be available at least in the campaign. Would have loved to really go rampant there xD
God power tierlists have been done several times already so I'm not going to do that, but currently I'm doing a cheats tier list and I'm also thinking about doing a giant heroes tier list (half of which is probably going to be Atlantean units hahaha)
@@AmonsChallenges I'll definitely watch it! Hope Polyphemus will be S tier
@@Rws4Life Probably, that guy is super busted xD

I really should be getting this game!
Definitely!
scorpion man C-tier ?? cmon man.
Not a fan of the unit man, but it's great that he is so spawnable since he costs wood
So this is a non competitive tier list ? Aren't tier lists supposed to rank things based on how good they are on the competitive landscape ? This is just you ranking units on how much you like them without much knowledge on how to use them.
This one is more of a list to just feel the units and compare them to their counterparts in the original.
Tier lists can be based on whatever the person making them wants, if I wanted to make a tier list based on how many arms the myth units have, I could, as long as it's clear to whoever is watching.
So u r judging base on looks. Not unit powers or abilities or strength. Pls do better
No they're not, they are basing it on stats and effectiveness in the campaign.
Where'd you get that?
@@PandoraKin564 u sure man, i didnt hear stats or comparisions just whether he likes the look or not.
@@Jimmyni-kk4em Ah I get it now. Cheers. Fair enough
