After reading your comment i thought that it would be really nice a god power that slows down the game. Like a caladria special but for the game time itself. It could be nice to micro and get hold of what to do when you're been harrased from everywhere
1. Lure in old AoM was great, especially when I lured some hippos and they massacred my whole population :D 2. Did you notice that in old AoM, Forest fire had much more spread (AoE) if you had vision on the forest?
I'd just like to express that I feel you are massively underrating Dwarven Goldmine at the moment and I feel it's at least an A-tier, if not an S-tier power. Thor is dominating the high ELO at the moment because of that power coupled with easy Favour gain from herdables and seems basically immune to being gold-starved which every other civ is suffering from atm.
25:50 They buffed the spider eggs in the last patch, its not 2 minutes to recast. It’s 90 seconds now. I agree its a sh1tty god power still, but forest fire is worse in my opinion. I’d put both in D tier
Hesperides Tree has got a new effect that I am not sure a lot of people have noticed as of now : the default cap for Dryads you can have at any time (which is 5) increases with each new tree you spawn. So if you spawn a second tree, you can spawn 5 more Dryads, and so on... The cap can be maximized up to 25, so the 6th tree will not increase the cap - unless, of course, an ally or an enemy takes hold of one of your trees. It really increases the power's value even more : the fact that you can get an army of 25 Dryads (instand of just 5 max), and with no pop cost, nor favor (besides the cost of the tree), and only a handful of gold... Yeah, it really bumps the power up a tier or two.
Nobody in a competitive game is going to cast this beyond the first two free uses. 125 favour can be spent in much better places. The dryads themselves aren't particularly strong, the god power is ok now you get the 2 units for free but no way its A tier or higher, the powers above it can all end games on use.
Agree with most, things I would put slightly different: Sentinels, lower just not very versatile. Doesn't protect your hunt and doesn't protect much against raids in general. The economic powers are much more versatile that they also benefit aggression. Dwarven mine, this has to be higher. It has a higher collection rate making it really good in Heroic age and can save you in a clutch in Classic too. The first reuse is 60 favor which is quite low and in mythic age you get 6000g with +50% collection rate just giving Thor great endgame by itself. Gaia forest, not the great god power but definitely should be higher. Basically you have +5% wood collection rate for the majority of the game. Also has other small benefits like securing your gold, putting wood next to gold so you can swap instantly and just having another cast available to create a wall. Ceasefire, counters too many good god powers to not be higher: ancestors-eclipse, bronze, flaming weapons, chaos, fimbulwinter.. then very useful vs underground passage, vortex, frost, ragnarok etc.. And besides all those godpowers it can also just save you vs being caught out of position with a raid. Or doing a raid and then using it to get back to defend a push. Dropping a forward fortress, etc. Too many options. And with a reuse cost of 75 there is a case to be made if you use it early to reuse it for say fimbulwinter. Curse, I just dont think it's S tier anymore. It's solid, always good. But that feels like it's it. Just doesn't get all that many units. Sure it's super easy to use but in big battles it's effect is somewhat minimal. Traitor, at the same time this must be a little higher I think even though it isn't that good. Just compare to curse, there you instantly kill 800 resources. Every heroic myth creature is at least 200 resources 20 favor. So taking that one unit if you counter favor as 10 resources is also a 800 resource swing (they down 400 you up 400). Against Greek or Norse the targets always seem juicy. Then recasting is not so expensive even though the timer is long so for 15 favor or 30 favor this is still a great deal. Heck at 45 it's still decent value against the strong lategame myth units, i think it just straight up invalidates some picks like fafnir.
I personally like how you split the tier lists by age. Your strategy can vary wildly depending on what age you're in, so it makes sense to compare things that way.
Great Tier List, really enjoyed it I came from playing Aoe4 a lot to AOM and it is crazy to see how much impact those God powers actually have in terms of passing and tactic A bit difficult to get used to
I think some of this vastly changes if you get a wonder out. My man was saying you’ll only really have 1 son of Osiris and meanwhile my last 2v2 ranked game that went on for 2 hours I had 4 of them out at the same time lol
Heard so many other tier lists shit on Shifting Sands so nice to see a different opinion. Think it’s a bit too gimmicky to guarantee that S rank though since you need to plan its usage carefully.
Could Frost also be used to freeze _half_ your enemy's army, to allow you to kill the other half, and then after freeze ends kill the remaining half, taking advantage of Lanchester's Law?
Yes if he doesn't retreat. Or freeze his entire army while attacking his base with siege. And while his army is frozen, destroy his entire base. Easily S+ tier
it is worth considering getting two sons of Osiris they just go so hard counter myth units so hard just keep them protected, also getting two means even stronger eco buffs and upgrades at bases and even faster unit spawning two sons of Osiris is almost broken and so much fun easily one of the best God powers in the game I think it's very underrated and its affordable for when you spawn for the second time and have one on the offensive and one at base helping getting even faster stuff of whatever it is you need or both of them on the offensive so scary to deal with
Ceasefire is S tier imo. The 25 seconds is enough to get out 1-2 batches of units and reposition. Time to repair/Build too. And you can build buildings to trap the enemy army in XD.
I think with powers being able to be reuse able alot of the powers in the late game like plenty vault are going to be super strong in team games, team games are going to be a lot different in retold, like citadel give you extra pop space so you can think of it as an eco thing you can help your allys with at the end of the game plus make them harder to raid, its kinda like the win more button
Plenty Vault is underrated. Once you have that god power, send all your villager to favor generation. After making several Vaults, you can basically ignore economy and create an endless army and grind your opponent in a war of attrition.
Undermine was reworked, but I almost feel like you were thinking of the original when talking about it (sorry if not the case). It's now a click-and-drag AoE like Locust or Inferno, IMO it feels very underwhelming against buildings now, but it instanly destroy walls and towers, so it can be useful to bust open a turtling enemy early but doesn’t feel as strong vs TCs and Forts
From the initial testing I've done so far, towers are actually w net negative. Their dps is so low, that if one player makes units, and the second player makes the same units, but less by the amount of cost of the towers, and they fight under the arrow fire - the player that didn't waste their money on tower wins. And I only balanced the cost of units vs cost of building the tower, I didn't even factor in the cost of the tower upgrades, heck in some match ups, I even only factored in the gold cost to give towers the biggest advantage possible, but they are simply a net negative in tests I did so far
Bolt definitely fits B tier. It's great in its niche but it's kind of expensive on a recast and feels way less useful outside its niche Also clearly Citadel is S tier because of the drip it gives you Joking aside, I wonder if a good way to buff locust swarm could be to kind of rework it a bit? Put it between the current version and the new version; have it start in a set area, then either move in a direction or just kind of disperse outwards, lowering damage but hitting a wider area. A brief period of serious damage, followed by more of an annoyance
I think with 70-80% of the games ending in classical right now, not to mention the abundance of hunt and extra food Rain is D tier. If you gave me the option between rain and literally any other archais age god power I would pick the other option, yes including gaia forest. The only "bad" ones would be the ones that actually require scouting, so spy and deconstruct, but even so they offer at least some potential value without having to build farms, which even with ptah barely feels on par with just getting some extra hunt. Like dont get me wrong rrain is really powerful, but right now it just doesnt come up
With farms usually only going down in heroic age rain comes in so late for Ra as a first age godpower, i wish it would affect gathering from berries to help out Ra early
I didn't realise fever no longer had limits so I was sitting there thinking that 100 favour that's your entire stockpile. 125 how do you even cast that
The vision power should be A or S. Vision is the kind of thing in RTS that gets way better as your skill and game knowlegde goes up. Also you forgot all the new Freyr powers(Edit: Just got to the point were you mention Freyr. I should be more careful about commenting before I finish watching).
I don't know, the more experience and game knowledge you have the better you can use your game sense to figure out what's going on and the less you need vision. I feel like vision is more important for newer players to see what the enemy is doing
@@LordBenji1287 Most newer players won't know what to do with the information vision gives them. A more experienced player can do a lot more with it. For example a player gets vision of an army with Sets power, a newer player will just see an army while an experienced player will be able to tell whether it is an offensive or defensive army and what units to build to counter them. Though I am not very experienced in the Age games, my RTS experience comes mostly form Starcraft 1 and 2 so maybe vision is less important in the Age games.
Then it's useless by your logic, like the far sight from WC3, skilled players don't need it because they already know what people do in which timings and newbies can't use that info correctly. F tier it is then.
I would personally put Tartarian Gate a tier or two higher as, while on it's own it is nothing special, it can be an excellent annoyance with a push into the enemy base and a well positioned Oracle. If you manage to drop it near the enemy Eco while attacking from another angle, it can force the enemy army to split up or otherwise risk valuable buildings
Ive found it to be near worthless, and I know others like Iammagic agree. Maybe it attacks some villagers, but even if places closed to a TC the spawns just refuse to attack the tc. Which means oftentimes the gp is worth killing some house + like 6 villagers.
I disagree that it's even an annoyance honestly, if anything I feel relieved in my opponent picks Hekate because I know I don't have to worry about an actually threatening God Power.
This strat definitely works at a low enough level (first time I used it in ranked my opponent left it unchecked and lost cuz he was 1TC down as a result) but then people quickly learn to hunt hidden oracles down and to dispatch just enough troops to deal with the gate, which means the opportunity cost of not having one of the other two powers becomes to great to even try.
Wait, does not the great hunt multiply targeted wild animals? It is best used on elephants, bait more of them by attacking then use great hunt and out of two elephant you get four. That is 4000 food unless they have been changed.
