Sorry to hear about Troopy.
It was good to hear. Sadly very common here in africa with the extremely corrugated roads. One of our RUclipsrs even had the bonnet hinge break and short the battery on the bonnet lid.
Would be good to see video on how you fixed the wiring.
Enjoy Australia 🇦🇺 reach out to Jack & Megan (ex Troopy travellers) they super nice and Jack is very hands on like you.
We have some footage of the wiring harness replacement, maybe’s we’ll make a video! And yes, meeting Jack and Megan would be fantastic!
Crazy story, glad you guys are ok though. Congrats on going to Australia I can't wait to see the adventures.
34:31 I laughed at this
Hey, I'm from the Netherlands, just did a year of travelling Australia in our "budget " troopy. Pretty much did all the mayor 4wd destinations cap York, Victoria High country, simpson dessert. Wouldn't mind sharing experiences and information!
Sounds like an amazing trip! What is a good way to get in contact with you?
Listening to the storey, hoping she is emptying the truck as fast as possible
Queensland has the rainforest, Great Barrier Reef and the outback. Fly to Cairns and drive to Perth, from there. If you want see the real Australia, that's the way to do it. Sydney is just another big city. When you go to sell it, you will need to get a roadworthy certificate if the vehicle is registered in your name and the buyer wants it transferred into there name. Each state has their own DMV's.
Thank you for the info!
Glad you’re heading to Oz… to get most of the info you require about buying a vehicle in Oz, just google “ how to buy a vehicle in Australia as a tourist “. If you want, depending how adventurous you feel, you can drive Sydney to Perth without driving on bitumen for most of the 4000+ klms. Just remember that when you arrive Oz will be in Spring and the temperatures will be rising. I know you live in Calgary and the temperatures you will experience crossing Oz might be something you have never experienced…don’t forget about the incessant flies. Oz is a great place and I have travelled most of the Outback over the last 50 years. Never be afraid to ask people for assistance. I hope that the two of you have a great experience in Oz. Don’t have too high expectations and you will have a great time….safe travels.
Thank you so much for the advice! Sounds like you know the county very well with 50 years or experience 😄
bring me back a dingo
Sounds like after the 🔥 the knock stops. I was thinking possibly exhaust or intake valve being hit, or a bent rod
See if Shaun Whale still has his rig in America, maybe the container going back to Australia will have room for your truck
Actually Graham on 4WD247 runs a AUS long tours, but he is base in SW AUS opposite side of continent from Sydney
Oh. Your going to Perth, that “near” where he is
Hi guys great to hear your coming to Australia 👍 I’m a 75 series owner myself living just south of Sydney I’d love to help you out in anyway I can with information regarding licensing, insurance and ownership if your interested. I’m also always looking at good second hand 4wds so I could pass on any potentially good rigs to you guys. Let me know if your interested in chatting further
That would be great! What is a good way to contact you?
It may be a good idea to contact Patriot Games RUclips channel, in Australia. They make their living on 4x4 builds and are well connected so would be a chance to find a used vehicle and endless knowledge of off road adventures. Have a great time I look forward to your videos.
Congratulations on the move!
Thank you but we are not moving! It will be a 3 month trip, then return to Canada 👍🏼
1. Registration, when you buy a vehicle it needs to be transferred to your name and you automatically get current leftover rego, it normally expires anually, so if expires in december 2024, you have that. to start with. The vehicle will need a "blue slip" in NSW that proves it is roadworthy ( ie legally safe on road ) do not buy a car without blue slip because it may need $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to repair, some people sell cheap because of known repairs. When you sell it in Perth, the new buyer will need to register it in perth and you get refund of NSW rego. Each state has its own registration rules. Each state requires the equivalent of a blue slip to be registered, you might get lucky and someone buys it off you without one, then it is their responsibilty but you will get less money for the car. 2. Insurance, you normally need an address for insurance, 4wd insurance in australia is very expensive, easilly $1500-$2500 depending on value of 4wd and driver, especially if you cannot prove no previous claim history, you can get a 12 mth insurance policy and pay insurance by the month, cancel at any time and only pay up to due month. Note some 4wd modifications make them uninsurable, be careful with mods. Contact any australian insurance company online to enquire before you come over. 3. Youll need an international drivers licence in Australia.
4. I live at the start of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, if heading this way reach out. reply with your email.
Sounds like buying the pump from ANYWHERE in the world would have been quicker and cheaper
Haha legally drive on “the wrong side” of the road. Opposite to North America
Buying a “budget” 4wd in Australia? Have a look at prices…..
you’d be better off renting a 4wd if you only be here for 3 month.
Your license will be fine.
Selling a car with interstate rego on the quick, you’ll loose a lot of money. Happens to travelers here all the time.
Checking prices all the time! It appears to be a better deal to buy instead of rent. Plus if I buy, I can get a little bit of money back at the end when I sell it.
