  • This is a technical job with got on an effigy mound that we’ve done a lot of previous work on. The nature of Effie moans is quite sensitive in many ways, but regarding tree work, zero impact is the rule. we set up two remote rigging points and a remote tying point to be able to climb in a rig this very dead and sketchy white oak. We utilize several protective mats to catch all of the loose bark and various pieces of shrapnel that would fall during the operation. I hope you enjoy the video. It was an honor to once again utilize our skills to protect the historical sites please remember to visit www.gameoftrees.com where all purchases help support our Guatemala project

    its really cool to see a veteran tree guy that's not so set in their ways of getting the tree down as easiest as possible for the tree guy vs being able to change your way of thinking on how to do the job for what is best for the customer in this case not touching the mounds or ground near the mounds with any wood. All to often the veteran tree guy is so set in there ways that they would rather walk away from a job like that rather than rig it out just because it goes against what they think is the best way to cut the tree down even if they do have the know how to rig it out. I can tell you have the same enthusiasm as i would about rigging out a tree job like this even knowing the tree could be cut another way an probably not affect the mounds.

      @@GameofTrees I grew up on a dairy farm up here in Northern Vermont I've never worked indoors I could never work indoors. Where I grew up in Northern Vermont I started in the industry with a gentleman who was a phenomenal arborist by the name of Ned he taught me a lot of really good skill sets that I'll use for the remainder of my life it's just a pre-existing people that are in my area of chittenden county Vermont are all greedy, they'll be a job that requires maybe a climber a chipper and a box truck and they'll get it for a crane palfinger and all unnecessary just ripping people off and I can't work for people like that. So it's nice to see somebody like you doing it like I was taught how to do it

    the orange slings you use, what are they rated for? I have seen Jake only use them for small pieces,
    while you use them for everything. great video, love how you explain as you go! so educational.
    yes you definitely have to protect the tools in south america, or you will come back to broken saws and such.

      600 lb working load. I double them up on larger stuff. But 600lbs is a pretty big limb

      thank you Mr . Hamm for the reply, yes 600 pounds working is probably twice the majority
      of the limbs / branches that you drop to the ground. how was your trip? it has to be just
      amazing seeing the rain forest trees their size and canopy all around you. I have not
      been at heights , do not know how I would feel. I just am so happy you did not have major
      health issues after your fall! you work in a very dangerous profession, I just think of what
      happened to Jed with the hanger in the tree! so often you can not even see them!
      god bless, stay safe and take care!

    What do you mean Kevin when you say climbing a dead tree excavate the root flares thank you buddy God bless

    • @GameofTrees
      @GameofTrees  Месяц назад

      You can check the integrity of the root system with some subtle excavations of the root flares and even drill some holes in the flares to see if there is integrity. Obviously, I couldn’t do that on an effigy mound😃
